The sun rose on the town known as Appleloosa, Starburst sats behind the counter of what she called "A dinky little establishment in the middle of nowhere." The tables were polished, the floor was as clean as possible for it being a dusty desert town, and the glasses were so clean you could see your reflection in them. Even now Starburst could be heard behind the counter, polishing the boards on the countertop to a mirror shine. There wasn't much to do today, she'd already finished her regiment of cleaning, and it was a slow day. She smoothed out the ruffles in her dress, and re-adjusted her stockings. What is early morning for some ponies, it's already the middle of a working day for others. Some even just went to sleep, those who had night shifts and some are up and working with the first beam of Celestia's sun shining upon them.
Morrow Rose, a short grown, mahogany Pegasus was among the later, pulling a red painted tin wagon through the air, her pet-bird Singasong always right behind or otherwise next to her.
Every now and then she landed, the wagon's wheels clattering as they touched down and a little bell rang. It was just the same as Morrow landed in front of The Salt Block.
The Pegasus got out of her harness, and with a swift movement she grabed a box with milk bottles, some eggs and the local news-paper from her wagon, carrying it with a handle between her teeth.
With one hoof she pushed open the saloon door.

Starburst removed her hoof from the cleaning rag on the counter, when the door to the saloon opened. She quickly put on the best smile she could, despite her lack of enthusiasm, and waited for the delivery, sneaking the rag below the counter.
Starburst's stomach churned when the pony walked in. Her perfectly polished planks have been sullied with dust, dirt, and other contaminants. A nearly visible shudder of revulsion could be seen as the pony walked over to the counter.
Through false smile she greeted the newcomer, a waver in the pitch of her voice. A thread of willpower kept her from bounding from behind the counter and vigorously scrubbing the hooves of the mahogany pony. "How.. can I help... you?"

Skipping a few steps into the saloon, Morrow Rose placed the box in front of her, looking up from the milk, eggs and news with a honest and proud smile, "Ah, I'm fine, thankyou! But, how can I help you, why, with this here - Ms ...?"
The Pegasus tapped one hoof against her chin, in thoughts. She swore to herself in thoughts to start learning more names instead of just going by addresses and what the ponies in which house had ordered from her.
She meant to have noticed a twitch in the purple-maned Pegasus' eyes, but wasn't sure, nor could she explain to herself why. Probably, she thought to herself, it is about how small she is, again.

"Starburst." She replies, blurting it out.
"S..So. Could I interest you in a beverage, Something to drink for your trip perhaps? Anypony would be thirsty after such a long trip." Starburst said with a less than excited expression on her face. Her teeth slowly ground against each other with each hoofbeat she heard on her magnificently clean floor.
If she was going to clean up this mess she was at least going to get some money out of it.

"A pleasure to meet you, Ms Starburst. I'm Morrow Rose, morning delivery, and that", she pointed at the female blackbird that meanwhile rested on her paperpony hat, "is my pet bird, Singasong."
She gave the other Pegasus a long curious look, to see if she can narrow down the reason for her nervousity, then shrugged in thoughts and trotted to a place at the counter, "Why, thank you, yes I could need a drink. Do you have coffee, perhaps, I'm up since a while now."

Starburst picked up a Coffee pot with her mouth and poured a fresh apple cinnamon roast into an insulated glass. The coffee itself steamed as it came into contact with the cool glass.
The outside of the glass was sparkling clean. Just looking into it produced a reflection. No scratches or scuffs marred the surface of the glass. It was perfectly maintained. Shortly after the coffee was poured in, the outside of the glass glossed over with foggy condensation.

Morrow Rose just had to smile amused, looking at her own reflection in the glass, looking back at her, distorted from the glass' bend, but then it was already gone and replaced by condensate.
The smell of the fresh brewed coffee tickled in her nose, in a most pleasant way as she thought. "Oh, apple cinnamon! I just love that blend. Thank you so much."
She looked up from her coffee and at the other pegasus again, a question on her mind, "Shall I carry the delivery someplace else, or is it okay if I leave the box there?"

Starburst imagined all the dirty hoofprints she would have to clean off the floor if Morrow moved more than necessary, and politely replied, "No you can leave the box there. I'll take care of the contents."
Starburst grabbed the pot and topped off Morrow's coffee before she grabbed a clean cloth in her mouth, and walked from behind the counter, dropping the rag onto the floor over a footprint. She ground her hoof into the cloth, scrubbing the footprint away while she polished away the grime and restored the shine.

"Okay then", Morrow Rose replied just as politely. She had learned that while most ponies would not want her to carry delivered goods into their homes, they still would appreciate it being offered.
The delivery Pegasus took a sip from the glass of coffee, then another, enjoying the stimulating brew, much, as a content smile on her muzzle showed.
Eventually she felt strenghtened enough to bring up the topic she assumed caused the other Pegasus' nervousity. "Ms Starburst, listen, I know ponies can feel a bit uncomfortable around me, 'cause I'm unusual short and-"
Her facial expressions pretty much derailed as she then looked at Starburst and realized what dirt she brought into the saloon.
"-oups! So that's why you were looking at me like that. I'm terrible sorry!", she said sincerely.

"I'm sure it wasn't intentional. But in the future please wipe your feet before you come inside. The rest of this town might like thick layers of dust and grime all over their hooves but that doesn't mean I do."
Starburst retreated back behind the counter, topping off Morrow's coffee. "Cream? Sugar cube?"

"I'll be keeping that in mind", Morrow smiled relieved at Starburst.
She let her look wander over the saloon, this time appreciating it more, noticing even more sparkly clean glasses, all reflecting her face, and the shiny floor. "You definitely do a great work keeping the Block as clean as that, I bet it's not easy in a town dusty like this."
She looks up from stating her findings, as she hears the other pegasus asking her a question. "Oh, yes, one sugar cube, please, that would be kind."

Starburst laid a saucer with a single sugar cube on it near the cup of coffee. "I do hate things being dirty, my motivation to clean is based on that."
"I wish somepony would clean up this town. The dust is unbearable. I can barely even go outside."

Carefully Morrow Rose picked up the sugar cube from the saucer, with her mouth, to plunge it into her glass of coffee.
"Thanks a lot", she said before taking another long sip of the brew. Her pet-bird was still resting on her hat, giving the whole scene a slight surreal cute touch.
"I know", she then answered to the other Pegasus' complaint, "I don't mind dust as much as you, but it sure needs to get used to. It ain't the good parts of Manehattan alright, why, I could see a whole brigade of road sweepers come by each morning."

Starburst pouted.
"What I wouldn't give for a carriage to whisk me away from this place off to Cloudsdale." Starburst fantasizes, her eyes drifting towards the sky.
"Then again.. I'm sure a brigade of streetsweepers would at least be an improvement upon this place as is."
