In the midst of the Red Mages compound, a certain tattooed unicorn was waiting. The leader of the Red Mages was not impatient at the moment, but it was likely to change, should his current student be late.
As Trixie had managed to successfully complete the experiment he had assigned her to do yesterday, he gave her the rest of the day off to relax with her new counterpart.
Watermark wasn't sure when Percheron got in the dating game, but he sure pulled it off rather well. To the displeasure of Frostbite. Funny how he had never interacted with Trixie, yet still had designs for her.
In either case, this was not the Hydromancer's problem, today he would personally train and coach Trixie to improve her magical potency. He hoped she would not be late, he hated delays.

Trixie quickly exited her small bunkhouse, having enjoyed her small amount of free time. She headed off to the training grounds, found Watermark in one of the rooms, and trotted up to him happily.
"Alright." She said with a contented grin. "I'm ready and rested. What shall we do today?" Trixie, surprisingly, was more than enthusiastic about essentially going back to school than she should have been, but she was happy to learn new tricks of the trade.

"Alright then, I don't assume you've memorized any new spells, you've had a busy day, so instead we will focus today on increasing your magical potency! I want you to make me a storm cloud, like you did with Percheron yesterday." Watermark instructed, slowly pacing to stand behind Trixie.
"Make it as large as possible, there's ample room here, but if you feel you can make it even bigger outside, we can go there as well." He gestured at the door, before returning to focus his attention on Trixie again.

"I'd rather do it outside." She began walking outside and stopped at a clearing just outside of the building, making sure that there were at least some trees and it was humid enough.
Trixie then did as instructed, focusing on a storm cloud while her horn began to glow with magical energy.
Same as before, the ambient humidity dropped to bone dry and she tore the water out of a few more trees nearby, blasting them to splinters by the flash-dehydration. Trixie didn't need the water they held, but she did it for show, just to impress Watermark.
All the water vapor condensed a few feet above ground, first forming a light mist, then solidifying and darkening into an adequately sized, angry dark grey, almost black cloud, flashing periodically from the inside with harnessed electrical energy and rumbling with thunder. Every so often a bolt would spring out of the cloud and wrap around the surface, only to enter the cloud again. Trixie's horn was glowing brightly, she was expending a lot of effort keeping the cloud together and all of the electricity inside.
After failing her first cloud test, she had really tried to outdo herself this time, and hopefully Watermark would approve.

Watermark stared at Trixie in disbelief. "I liked that tree... its name was Herbert." He looked sadly over at the tree Trixie just smashed.
"Why'd you have to do that? You have bog water all around!" He asked, mourning, before looking up at Trixie with a big grin.
"I'm just kidding," He said, walking up to her, and whispering in her ear, "His name was Bob."
After doing that, he moved on to inspect her cloud. "Unimpressive, I want it bigger, I want more lightning, chop, chop."

Trixie grumbled at Watermark's joke about the tree. And she sighed at his disapproval of the cloud she had conjured up.
Accepting that Watermark was right, and that there was a lot of bog water around, Trixie levitated a steady stream of it into the cloud, tinging it a sickly green from the algae and making it grow even darker and larger.
The added friction from more molecules created a jump in static electricity, and bolts were criss-crossing the surface at a higher rate, and they were larger. The periodic thunder became sinister and low, continuous rumbles. Trixie's horn was sparking now, holding all the energy and pressure inside, lest it be released and create a massive electrical bomb that would probably fry her and watermark.

"Hmm, nice, very nice. Now I want you to make eight of those." Watermark instructed simply, walking along the edges of the cloud to inspect it.
Impressive work for an amateur, but not all too impressive, she was nowhere near the level he wanted her to be.

"Eight?!" She managed, still fighting to hold the cloud. "That's Ridiculous!!" Her concentration broke, and so did the cloud.
A large bolt of lightning struck the ground very near to Trixie, fusing the sediment into glass and creating a large, deep gash, laced with carbon and burning grass.
The overpressure toppled Trixie over. She got up with a huff, but then calmed down, keeping a cool head. "I-I'll work on it, Watermark.." She squeezed out in the calmest tone she could muster after almost being struck by lightning. She tapped her ears a few times, ringing still present in them.

"Good morning Trixie!" The red coated cult leader approached in a jovial trot, "Oh, I haven't missed your training session, I am glad." Red Charge stated, taking his place next to watermark and sitting down. How he kept his armor shining and clean while dwelling in such a filthy swamp was beyond anyone.
"So Watermark, what were you doing just now?" He asked the tattooed unicorn.

"Ah, good morning master. Yes, The Great and Powerful Trixie was just about to make us eight large storm clouds, for an exercise. Go ahead Trixie." The unicorn waved at her with a hoof, taking a seat next to the red stallion.
His grin was triumphant, as though saying, This is for Bob

Trixie groggily got up and was about to yell at Watermark, but her words stopped before she even thought about them when she saw Red sitting next to him.
She calmed herself down and once again, did as Watermark instructed, ignoring the mischievous grin he had on.
Trixie thought of a cloud- correction, eight clouds, and her horn began to glow. A stream of water from the bog formed a large floating sphere of water, which then split in half, then split in half again, and then again, forming eight small balls of water floating above the ground in a line.
'Now for the show.' Trixie thought to herself. her horn glowed brighter, magical energy coursing through it for the effect. The eight spheres of water shook and exploded outwards in a mist simultaneously, forming eight puffy white, medium sized clouds.
The easy part of her assignment as complete. "Now to add the storm." She said under her breath, straining against the will of the clouds to disperse.

"Oh, and Master, I would really need to order a new cauldron or two... it seems Trixie and Percheron have uh... dirtied a couple of them, you know fooling around in there." Again, as Watermark said this, his presence changed entirely, no longer the Hydromancer, but the Joker, something which never failed to amaze, as though he was an entirely different person.
"I'm not against a lovebird's tussle, but I'm afraid I need the cauldrons... and I need to be able to drink the potions I concoct within them." The unicorn then flashed a grin at Trixie again.

Trixie began levitating another stream of bogwater to darken each of the clouds when she overheard Watermark. The stream of water fell about three feet, but was caught by Trixie's magic again in the nick of time. She squeezed open to find a smug looking Watermark staring at her. She just scowled at him angrily. He was trying to mess her up.
'Just ignore them, Trix. Focus on your job.' She thought to herself again as she tried to drown out their conversation. She ran the water through each cloud, darkening each one to the same gray she had before, her horn glowing even brighter with the added pressure. The electricity started up again, small flashes within each cloud to start, but then prolonged strobes of light and rumbles of thunder.
Trixie focused all her concentration on holding the clouds. Without it, they would all collapse like the first one earlier.

Red Charge laughed heartily, "Oh yes, I heard about our newest couple." He said warmly, "I think it's wonderful that these two ponies found each other here. Congratulations Trixie." The stallion bowed his head at her.
"And don't worry about your cauldrons Watermark, there should be more coming in within a couple of days." The stallion nodded at the tattooed unicorn, giving him a wink before laughing a bit again.
Looking up at the storm clouds Trixie was making he frowned a bit. "Trixie, when making those clouds you should consider, instead of making them separately, to try and create one very large cloud, and split it up. When your focus is in one place, it becomes easier. Later on, Watermark will help you with exercises that serve to focus on more than one spell, or object at a time."

Watermark's grin soon fell into a flat expression, this did not work as he planned. But then again, it was Red Charge. At least he'll be getting new cauldrons soon, not that he really minded using his old ones anyway.
His attempt at embarrassing Trixie and Percheron may have failed, but regardless, Red Charge gave Trixie solid advice. One that he should have given her. His focus was out, he had to go back in character.
Once again the presence of the unicorn changed into that of the wise teacher, and he smiled warmly at Trixie, before nodding at his master's words. "Yes, I was actually only testing her to find out where we start from, and how to increase her magical potency. She has not been through any training yet. To be fair, her magic capabilities are fairly advanced." He nodded.
