Trixie barely heard a word they said, and she only heard Red say something about 'splitting a big cloud', and 'easier' She had drowned out their voices to keep herself from being distracted by Watermark.
Trixie still had her eyes squeezed shut and her teeth bared. Not a single one of her shows had pushed her ability this far, and she knew the clouds were almost too much to handle. The lightning hit a peak and Trixie felt her grip on the clouds slipping, but she clung back on, realizing it was time to stop.
Unlike last time, Trixie was intent on letting these clouds down easy, and not ending the show with a bang. She slowly diffused the electrical energy into the air, her hair standing on end with the extra static, then she released control and let the clouds puff away on their own.
She laid down on the ground to take a small break, breathing heavily from the mental and magical exertion. She never knew using magic could take so much out of her. "Got it." She managed to say between breaths.

"Not bad, not bad at all, but there is still much more for you to learn. It will get easier with practice. This spell in particular could be useful for the Barons." Red Charge commented, "Either way, I will leave you two to continue your training."
"I have also heard you've already managed to isolate the Poison Joke effects I asked you. Very impressive Trixie. You're doing very well." The armored stallion smiled and nodded at Watermark and the up and coming sorceress, before turning away and moving off, quickly being joined by one of his architects to discuss more buildings.
Several water golems were clearing quickly out of their way, but Trixie noticed there was always one around, in case the Cult Leader needed Watermark for some reason. She also noticed that the water golems have been growing in numbers and in size. Perhaps this would mean Watermark's focus has been turned from something he was doing?

Trixie got up with a slight groan. She felt incredibly heavy, like her legs couldn't hold her up. She quickly laid back down on the ground to give her legs a rest and she closed her eyes to rest her mind as well.
Trixie had never heard of the Red Barons. They were a flight team, no doubt, but she had no idea who they were of who led them. Her train of thought stopped and rewound a bit. Percheron. Of course he would be the one to lead a flight team for the cult.
Trixie wanted to do a facehoof at her own stupidity, but since she already had a slight headache, she decided against it. She opened her eyes and didn't see Watermark, but figuring he was still in the vicinity, she called out to him "What shall Trixie do next?"

Watermark lied down next to her. "Well, I think we could just rest and talk for a bit. I hardly even know you besides the initial briefings." He turned on his back and looked up into the thick canopy blocking the sunlight from the bog.
"So I'm Watermark, I lead the Red Mages, the magical branch of the cult, I am also in charge of all of the little water golems you see around the camps. They're nifty little helpers. Really make it easier to do things." He turned around to face her, "So let's hear about you a bit."

She looked up at Watermark with a very puzzled face. She couldn't understand in the slightest his quick changes of personality. He wasn't the demanding teacher, but now a socializing friend, and Trixie felt a whole heck of a lot calmer with him like this.
"Well, you probably already know who The Great and Powerful Trixie is, but if I must know firsthoof, I shall tell you." She managed to turn around to face Watermark. "I am the Great and Powerful Trixie, most recently the most magnificent magician in Equestria." She smiled, happily announcing her old title.
"I have many magical talents, most suited for magic tricks and the like, but I do have more useful ones, like those clouds we saw earlier." She stopped abruptly, searching through her memories for some more interesting stuff about her life.

"Okay seriously?" Watermark scratched his head, "I'm WATERMARK, remember? Hello? I already KNOW all that jazz. Tell me something more ABOUT YOU, rather than this Trixie persona who can barely keep several clouds in the air."
The unicorn laughed heartily, "I can't believe you keep forgetting who I am. And I thought I was scatterbrained!"

"Oh come on, you have to give me some credit, it's just how I am." She gave a huff of frustration. "If you really want to know why I act this way, It's because of my family. All of them are master magicians, especially my great grandfather."
She sighed at mentioning her family, she hadn't seen them in years. "He was the greatest battlemage in Equestrian history. I never knew his name, he died long before I was born, but I've heard the stories and read the history about him." She looked away at the canopy and the sky.
"Since he was so magnificent, as well as the rest of my family, I decided to try and follow in their footsteps, but I wanted so show off my magic, so thats why I became a traveling magician, going from town to town and doing shows." She looked back at Watermark. "Thats the majority of my story, aside from the incident at Ponyville, and now I'm here."

"Sounds like you got in a bit over your head. Why not just register for the Mages' Circle? You could have learned a lot there!" He asked, then pondered, "Greatest battlemage in Equestria, huh? Is that why Red Charge picked you, you think? Or maybe he saw something else? Some potential?"
The pony rolled so his entire body was facing her now, "I actually have no idea myself, you seem to be moderately gifted for a unicorn your age. But I have yet to see anything special. Any Pazzaz, so to speak. How did you get your Cutie Mark?"
The unicorn stared at Trixie, attentive, a Cutie Mark story is always one to which you must have your full attention, it would be considered the gravest of insults in his eyes not to do so. A cutie mark is that special something that makes a pony a pony, and it was always a very touching story to tell and hear.

"Oh, my cutie mark?" She looked down at her flank to see a sparkling blue cloud with a magic wand in it. "I never really went to interpret it fully, as I just liked the way it looked, but from what I know, the wand represents my magical abilities, at least my show tricks, because ponies never use wands like that, they're just the typical thing that performers use to enhance acts and whatnot."
She turned her attention to the cloud of pixie dust surrounding the wand. "And the cloud? That represents, I guess, my power, at least potentially, or my ego, showing that it can be spread around Equestria like a cloud of dust." She sighed at her realization and recalled to when she got it.
"It first appeared when I did my first magic show for my school. I had done other shows, but this one was different because I tried a few new and magnificent tricks, and called myself 'The Great and Powerful Trixie' at the end, and got thunderous applause. After the show, my mom was so excited and happy. I had no idea why, but she pointed to my flank, and there it was. That was a great day, and I won the best magic act in the competition." She sighed happily.
"Then again, the cloud could represent how I amaze ponies with beauty and magnificence, as a flashy entrance with sparkling dust and fog is quite impressive."

Watermark pondered again for a moment, turning to his back again and thinking, eyes closed. Before he opened them again, slowly, still in thought. He wondered what he could do with Trixie, what would Trixie do best? How to best integrate her and develop her potential, beyond that of the standard spells.
He needed something that WAS Trixie, something she would be amazing at, something...
"Have you ever tried illusion spells?" He asked, "They're very hard to pull off, but they can leave quite an impact. Like the Displacement spell? Named after the famous Displacer Beast, of course." He explained, turning back to the pony, "I think it fits your area of expertise perfectly. Pixies ARE known for deceiving ponies with illusions after all."

"Illusion spells..." Trixie tapped her hoof to her chin. "Yes! Some famous performers, especially Mavolino the Magician use them. Great tricks, they leave everyone confused and awed."
She turned to Watermark and frowned. "I've tried some, and they didn't work very well. Are you sure these will fit with me?" She crossed her front legs to be more comfortable.
But Trixie quickly realized the potential for success, as she had a good trainer and adequate time to work on them. "Y'know, I'm done doubting here. I'm willing to learn new tricks for my book and expending the effort to master them." She got up, ready for action. "When do we start, Watermark?"

"Mhhmmmm... I dunno, give me a few, I'm reading something interesting." He said, still grinning at her. Funny thing was that he was still LOOKING at her as well. "Yep, these are some nice spells, not too big, but very good for crowds... Oooh, that one too! And EW, oh dear, why would someone want THAT spell? Some ponies are SO weird..."
Getting up slowly after a few minutes, he said, "Alrighty, ready Trixie?"

"Ready as I'll ever be." Trixie was still very confused as to how Watermark could read without actually looking at any text or book for that matter. She figured it had something to do with his water golems, and after what she had seen, she just decided anything was possible with magic.
"What'll it be first?" Trixie asked eagerly, her mind and magic ready to tackle any new spell or challenge that Watermark could throw at her. Given she wouldn't be able to ace anything on the first go, but she was willing to try anything now.

"Alright! So here's what I need you to do. Make me those clouds. And do it RIGHT this time!" Watermark said, grinning, as though the earlier conversation had never taken place at all.

Trixie quickly whipped up two large clouds using the bog water around them. She puffed them out and made them very dense to handle whatever Watermark would have in mind. She wondered what the clouds would be used for, other than as a smokescreen to conceal movements or changes behind the clouds.
"Should I electrify them and make them storm clouds?" Trixie asked midway in, still curious as to how these clouds will help in an illusion spell.
