He laughed quietly to himself as she went on about a character based off of her. Wouldn't *that* be something. And "snooping" felt like it had too many negative connotations to take on as a liking. "I'm not sure, maybe research? I guess researching fits."
it would be a shame if Diamond were to leave. Sure Quill just met her, but her company was fantastic. She could talk forever if she need, and Quillson didn't mind listening. He nodded in agreement with her comment over worrying about it later. " You're right, better to get all the details first before making any big decisions." Though the arrow reminder got him smiling again.
She'd asked him what he wrote. Well, that's a normal enough question. He'd said he was a writer after all. "I write all sorts of things. I started out as a journalist, and still go about writing news and what not around Equestria." Quill just realized that he had never taken off his pack, He turned his head back towards his saddlebags, letting them slide down to the floor beside him. Facing Diamond again, he continued speaking. "But I really enjoy writing fiction. All kinds of stories about different characters, make believe places. Grand adventures, that sort of stuff. I just use my experiences here to help create ideas!"
He looked back at his bag, which held his various writing materials. "If you ever wanted me to go into any in detail, or read them for yourself, I wouldn't mind sharing." After waiting for her responses, Quillson looked over at Diamond once more, deciding to bring the questions back.
"Do you mind if I ask you some more questions about yourself? Like for instance, what's the most exciting place that you've ever been to?"

"Snooping... Research... Same difference. In the end you always end up in some pony's sock drawer looking for secret files on the monster in Ponyville Lake." Diamond said, once again giving her signature chuckle, obviously getting some fun out of poking at the Writer.
She waved a hoof dismissively, "Inn or home, either way I'll probably be in town for a while anyway, I mean, I still got a whole town to accidentally shoot at. All thought, maybe not at Aestella. She might just keel over from fright... or at my new boss, that could get me in trouble. You know, we should probably just drop the whole 'shooting at the townsponies' thing."
Diamond thought about Quillson's offer for a moment, "Yeah... I guess I could read some of your stuff in my downtime. I do enjoy a good fictional story from time to time."
"I really haven't been to that many exciting places. Equestria normally is quite calm. But lately creatures have been getting more restless, so I've been into Everfree once or twice, but not much else besides that. Because of my weapon of choice, I'm normally placed on sentry duty and placed in a tower or on a wall or second story window or something of the like."
She subconsciously gestured to the window in the room, since they were, indeed, on the second floor. A voice in her head now wondered if her room would make a good sniping spot should the need arise.

Quillson had a hard time keeping a laugh down as he imagined Diamond sifting through somepony's dresser drawer in the dark of night. He managed to keep it tucked behind a grin.
"No, I agree. I doubt many others would look kindly on any further unexpected arrow attacks."
He thought about how being a guard pony must be relatively dull, not being able to move from place to place at your own heart's desire. There was no way somepony could bog down Quill like that, at least not without good reason. "Well, maybe someday you'll get to do some more travelling, see the sites of the world! That is, if you wanted to. I'm not trying to force down ideas or anything... Heh."
"And don't worry over my stuff, it's nothing great anyway. There are much better things for somepony to read." He kept the grin up, despite continually looking like a fool. Quillson was tempted facehoof himself. He needed to stop talking like an idiot...
He followed her gaze out towards the window, catching site of the falling snow once more. "I've always liked winter. There's just something so peaceful about watching the snow fall and cover the earth. Sitting inside around a warm fire, hot chocolate, things like that. It's really great..."

Diamond nodded in agreement, "I wouldn't mind being able to get out more and see more of the world sometime. Maybe I'll put in for some time off after things calm down and follow you around for a while." she said and, again laughed, making it hard to tell if she joking again or not.
She looked out at the snow covered window, "Winter is alright, I suppose. It's too cold for me. Personally, I prefer Spring. It's a much happier, warmer time with all the animals coming back out and butterflies fluttering about and you can sit in a tree for hours without freezing your horn off."
"Oh, and horseapples. I'm sure your work is fantastic! In fact..." her horn lit up once more with its soft blue aura as Quillson's bags lifted off the floor with a similar aura around them. His bags would float over him and land next to Diamond, where she would open them with a smirk, "Let's take a look a few of your pieces!"

What to make of this filly... was she...? No way. Nopony would be that forward. Right? He wanted to shake his head and clear his thoughts, but Quillson managed to remain his composure. Obviously she was just kidding. Would it be so bad if she wasn't? Quillson blinked a few times, eventually laying the mental conversation to rest.
He kept the smile up as Diamond continued to speak, trying to keep himself from focusing on that topic any further. Spring was nice, after all. It was the best time to travel, and to see everypony out and about. "Oh yes, Spring is wonderful. It's when I travel around the most. The weather's always so nice at that time of year."
Here she goes again about the work too. Maybe she's not as against as originally thought... However, Quill was suddenly a bit frightened when she scooped up his bag, carrying it over towards herself with magic. Nothing in that bag had been edited! Nothing had been rewritten, it was all first hoof accounts and first drafts.
"I uh... are you sure Diamond?" He got up, walked over and sat down parallel to the filly. "All of that is just my rough drafts since the last time I stopped at home. Nothing in it's.... well, done yet.... If you want to read it you can, I guess. But... I just thought I'd warn you."
She was going to read his writings in there, and think he was a complete idiot! Oh why did he have to bring it up before! So stupid... Quillson wouldn't be able to stand it if Diamond Point here found him to be a mockery.
But why should he care? Why DID he care? The buck looked down at his front hooves, waiting for her to respond.

Diamond, of course, ignored Quillson's protests and warnings. "Now, let's see what we got in here..." she flipped open Quillson's pack and started floating out the contents with her magic. Quickly filling the air around her with the stallion's works, or works-in-progress.
The Unicorn would float one up to her snout and skim over it quickly before moving onto another just to do the same thing. She would linger on a few longer then others, but didn't really read any of them fully. She just wanted to get an idea of his work, not proof read them.
"Hmm... interesting stuff, Quill. Can I call you 'Quill'? Good. Well, I'm no expert on writing, so I'm not going to even try to offer criticism, especially since I only skimmed over your work. But I think I still wouldn't mind having a copy or two of your finished stuff for slow days." Diamond said, actually managing to be calm, Quillson's workings still hovering around her.

Quillson watched in semi-fear as Diamond floated his various works up and out of the bag, floating them in the air around them. The pieces themselves contained various bits of stories, experiences and thoughts that Quillson had written down in the past month or so. There were a few on his accounts of travelling to Hoofington, of meeting various ponies along the way (Diamond and the others in Hoofington included). They entailed his accounts of them, as well as the various conversations they had all shared.
Other pieces went on to describe environments, news worthy events around Equestria, and general things like that. The longer works were bits of stories involving various fictional ponies. One about a young filly going through school while secretly hiding from her abusive adoptive family, another about some sort of Dragon Hunting adventurer in search of great treasure. All the stories were in bits and looked more like thought processes and timelines than a book.
But near the bottom in a stack of folded and crisped papers was a full fledged novel, entailing the events in a fictional realm of creatures extremely different from Ponies. Entitled "The People", it went on for pages and pages describing various characters and their experiences in a world filled with despair and troubles.
Nopony had called Quillson by his nickname in a long while, not since he was a young foal. His mind jumped back to his old friend... but Quillson quickly dismissed the idea. Too many emotions better not reaching into. "I'm fine with Quill..." he managed to say quietly, before returning his gaze to the floor with a solemn frown. Too long, better not to go back to it.
He finally looked back up at her, regaining his normal composure to address Diamond. I would be happy to get you copies of anything in there. You name it and it's yours." he looked around at the various writings floating about them in the air, wondering which of them (if any) had sparked her interest.

"Fantastic!" Diamond beamed happily and quickly looked back to the papers. This time, though, she placed them back into Quillson's bag after checking them until only two pieces remained in the air.
"I think these two... when they're done and you have spare copies. The one about the Dragon Hunter, because everything is better with a dragon, and this weird one called the... 'People'? It seems a little dark, but interesting."
She gave these two another quick look over before returning them to the bag as well. Diamond smiled back at Quillson, "I hardly expect you to just give me a copy, so I'll even pay for them, like a proper fan!"

He figure'd she might be drawn to "Emerald Knight", considering the unicorn's affection towards exciting and adventurous tales. But "The People" wasn't one he expected her (or anypony for that matter) to be drawn to.
"Oh! I'm so excited that you'd want to read them! Of course, I'll be sure to give you a copy once I've gotten through them the rest of the way." Quillson perked up at Diamond's interest in his writings. He hadn't expected to switch like that so fast. Why had he been so unsettled before anywho?
He watched as Diamond slid the different papers back into his bag, leaning in to see if they'd been mixed around, or bent at all. When he looked up to notice her smiling, he made sure to back up a bit as to give her more space.
Wait, she'd offered to pay for them? "Oh no, I could never ask of that! I offered for you to see them for yourself! I wouldn't ask for your money, not at all." He looked back down at the stacks and rolls of paper in his bag. Well, it would make sense. He sells his books to the various shops, where ponies buy them. Why wouldn't she? Unless of course there was another reason.
Looking back to her he said, "I would never ask a friend to pay. That's just not right." He finished off with a smile, hoping for the best.

Diamond had placed all the papers back as best she could. All straight and nice, but there was a chance a few might be out of order since she did take them out and put them back at random.
She shot Quillson a look of defiance when he insisted that she didn't have to pay, "And you're a traveling author. Oh, you'll get your bits for those books. One way for another." and with that she threw her back and let out a mischievous cackle with her front hooves raised in at the air and everything.
Then all of a sudden she stopped and smiled like nothing had happened, "Are you hungry? It should be about breakfast time by now, shouldn't it? Is there any place to eat around here? Or is this one of those Inns that serve food? Oh! We should go back and visit Aestella! I'm sure she's calmed down by now. Do you think she has any muffins? Ones with blueberries and some butter? Oh, that sounds good..."

Quillson sat and stared while Diamond... did.... her laugh. Or whatever that just was. He shook his head and blinked a few times, trying to understand if he's really just seen her do that. Yeah, she did.
By the time she'd turned back to "normal" Quillson had dismissed her outburst. "Well, I am a bit hungry to be honest." And uh oh. There was no way Aestella could take another visit. In the same day, same morning for that matter... Hoping to spare the nerves of the poor unicorn across town, Quillson directed Diamond's hunger elsewhere.
"They actually have some complimentary meals here at the inn. It's nothing spectacular, but it's still food. And if you'd prefer, I'm sure we could find somewhere in town. Assuming you're willing to bare the cold."

"Here in the Inn, you say?" Diamond contemplated this for a moment, "Yeah... Yeah, I guess that will do. Then later on, after it warms up a little, I can go out and get a good look at the rest of the town." she planned out loud and nodded, content with the idea.
She then got up and trotted over to her quiver, "Do you think they're open now?" She asked Quillson as she slung her arrows over her back, and turned to face him once the bundle was secure. "Or should we wait longer?"
Diamond gasped lightly, "Oh! I'm such a silly pony. Sorry, I shouldn't just assume I'm dragging you along. You said you're only a little hungry, I don't want to force you to eat before you want to. You probably have work and whatnot to do anyway..."

Quillson hadn't even second guessed being included in Diamond's plans. They had just met today after all, but things seemed to be moving along well. Well enough anyway... he'd only been shot at a while ago. But hey, accident's happen. He had been about to answer her question when she spoke out about Quill opting out.
He didn't have any other plans for the day. If anything he'd probably just spend most of it typing away in his inn room. Having already spent such an exciting morning out and about in town, he didn't really feel like turning in just yet. And to be honest, he was really enjoying his time with Diamond. Even if he didn't know what to make of her comedic outbursts, or accidental attempts on his life.
"Oh, well... I'm really not that busy. I can write whenever I get the feel to, it's no big deal. I wouldn't mind accompanying you at all. He thought through that again, deciding to add on. "That is, as long as I'm not intruding. I can leave you to your day if you'd like." Finishing with his usual grin, Quill hoped that Diamond would allow him to stick around. For at least a while longer.

"Of course you're welcome to join me! I just wanted to make sure you wanted too. I like said, I don't want to force you to join me if you had plans. But if you don't..." Diamond said with yet another smirk, bouncing a little on the spot, "Let's go before it all gets cold! Or warm or soggy or moist or whatever we're going to eat does when you let it sit for too long!"
She looked around the room quickly, her eyes hanging on the window for a moment to watch the continuing morning snow fall through the snow caked glass. Then turned for the door, opening it ahead of them with her magic before walking out and waiting in the hall.
"Do you need anything from your room?"

His mind relieved from the fear of abandonment (If it could be called that), Quillson began to relax once again. He really had gotten worked up there for a moment. This sense of attachment seemed to be coming from nowhere. Maybe it was because she was so different and exciting. That had to be it. With his writing mind at ease, Quillson rose from the floor. As he collected his things once again, he turned back to Diamond.
With a laugh and a smile he responded to her extensive question. "I think the food will be just fine by the time we get to it. I can't tell how many other guests are here, but it doesn't look like many. At least we'll have plenty to eat."
He followed her gaze to the window, looking out at the falling snow once more. As his mind wandered Quillson didn't notice the Unicorn prepare for their departure. "Do you need anything from your room?
Snapping back to reality, Quillson turned to face the filly. "Oh, just let me drop off my things real quick. No sense in carrying them around for the rest of the day, right?"
He walked out of her room, stopping to nod and thank Diamond as he passed through the open door. Quickly, he pulled the key from his bags and opened his own door. Leaving it propped open, Quill stepped inside to drop off his bag of writing materials.
The room was a mirrored version of Diamonds, though there were quite a large number of books and stacks of papers covering nearly every flat surface in the room (save for the floor). After relinquishing his bags onto the bed, Quillson turned back to the hallway. "All right, good to go!"
