Quillson walked through the falling snow down the road of Hoofington, making his way towards the Inn with Diamond Point. After that little excursion in Like Clockwork, Quill was happy to finally be out and about and away from the chaos.
They had left a few moments earlier, with the intent of Quill showing Diamond where the inn was. he was just thankful that he finally had the chance to be helpful for somepony. Ever since leaving Manehattan the last time, he'd been awfully isolated and without ponies for normal conversation.
"Well that was... certainly something back there. Huh..."
He looked over at Diamond, giving off his signature half grin. Things certainly hadn't gone as he'd planned. So far he'd gotten no information from anypony regarding the events in the woods, and due to random occurrences was completely unable to get to know anypony better. Maybe now would be his chance.
"And sorry if I seemed.... a bit off earlier. I generally try not to get that way. Things were just so chaotic."

Diamond walked a few paces behind Quillson and rapidly looking around at the town as they walked through it, trying to remember where everything was the best she could, and taking notes on things she wanted to get a closer look at later, now that she could actually see everything. Except for what the snow had already covered.
"Hmm?" She looked back at Quillson, "Oh, yeah. Personally I didn't really mind it, chaotic or not. I found it really interesting and, actually, would have like to learn a bit more, but I felt bad for Aestella, the poor dear. Hey, do you think we could go visit her again after she calms down later? I like her and I never did get a good look at those scrolls of hers. Well, assuming my presence doesn't cause her to run and hide again. And I'll even promise not to touch anything, or, at least, I'll do my best not too." She finally paused to breath properly, taking the chance to look around again.
"This is a really pretty town. Really quaint. Quiet. Not like Canterlot. It's hard to believe it was under attack not too long ago."

The snow began to settle atop Quillson's head as they went, causing the pony to knock it away with a shake of his neck. He looked back at Diamond every few moments while she talked, just so she'd be sure that he was listening to her. But holy smokes that Unicorn had a set of lungs on her! She certainly was the excited one, and she wasn't about to stop herself.
Quill was about ready to respond to her remarks about Aestella. He was sure Aestella would be up for another visit in time. Assuming that visit was a little more controlled than the last. But he stopped himself once she brought up that last part. She'd just mentioned the attack... But she's new. How would she know about it?
Quillson stopped in the snow a few steps ahead of Diamond, turning back to her. He claimed eye contact with the her, tilting his head a little to the side in an inquisitive gesture.
"The attack you just mentioned... what do you know about it? I'm sorry for asking in a manner so forward like this, but I've been trying to learn about that topic for the past couple days. It seems like everypony here knows little to nothing on it."

Diamond almost didn't stop in time to avoid walking right into Quillson. She took a step or two back to put room between them again and tilted her head back, mimicking him.
"Of course I know about it." she laughed, "It's why I'm here. These arrows aren't for show, you know." she gestured to the quiver on her back. "Because you guys have a small to nonexistent defense, I was sent over to help assist you guys and--You got a new Militia captain, right? Right. And to assist her. I know, I know. Just a couple ponies won't make a huge difference, but I think the idea is we'll be able to get the word out faster and to hold back what ever comes out until reinforcements arrive."
Diamond paused again and did one big shake to free herself from the growing layer of snow across her head and back.

Quill saw the snow fly from Diamond's head and neck, watching it trail slowly down to the layers that have formed across the road of Hoofington. Maybe this conversation would be better placed inside at the inn, where it wasn't freezing...
"Sorry again. I didn't mean to halt us out here in the snow. Let's keep on moving then. The Inn's just right up ahead."
He turned back down the path, making his way through the freshly fallen snow that covered their way. Quillson wondered just how much more then filly knew about the event in the forest. It would make sense that after something like that, more ponies would be sent to defend the little hamlet. Quill decided to continue talking as they went, surely Diamond would be more than happy to go on some more.
"Do you happen to know any of the details of what happened? Like I said before I've only hit dead end after dead end trying to find anything out. I heard it involved some sort of... monster. But that it had ponies fighting along side it..."

Diamond caught up and walked along side Quillson, thinking for a moment. "I wasn't told anything about another group, but I there were spider-like creatures I was told to look out for. The group from Ponyville took out the leader or mother or whatever it was, but it not impossible for the youngsters to wander back into town."
She tilted her head back in thought, "Ponies fighting with it...? That doesn't sound right. Are you sure? How would they even ally with something like that." she looked down at the ground with a frown, "Well, I guess we can't really ask now. Unless... do you know how to speak Spider?" she looked back at Quillson.

Spiders. Of course it was something awful like that. At least Diamond said the others managed to take down the Leader. Or nest mother. either way that was a good sign. He wondered as to just what could have led to something like that coming out of the forest. If these other ponies had been involved with the creature, surely they had something to do with it...
"Well, here's the place!"
Quillson turned through the snow up towards the large building he knew as the Inn. It would have been easier to just walk straight across the town, he thought in hindsight. But having the road for security was good enough for him.
He walked on up to the door, brushing away at a little of the snow that had gathered along its edge with his hooves. He then opened the door for Diamond, standing off to the side to let her in.
"We should get inside before the cold gets to either of us. "

Diamond nodded her thanks as passed by Quillson and entered the Inn. Once inside she glanced around and it seemed to be a pretty normal Inn. Two floors, a row of doors on each floor that curved around the back and side walls with stairs on each side leading up to the next floor. She noticed the front desk was straight ahead, which she walked right up to.
There was a bell sitting on the desk which she imminently rang a few times, even though the Innkeeper was already staring her in the face. Diamond gave a light laugh when the bell was taken away from her. She withdrew a few bits from a pocket on her quiver and dropped it on the desk, which the Innkeeper took and gave her a room key with quick directions to her room. Diamond took it happily, hanging it on her horn, and returned to the awaiting Quillson.
"Ready!"

Quillson waited for Diamond to head on inside the inn, following her into the main lobby. Clearing the snow from his hooves Quill glanced about the room, watching the Unicorn ring the desk bell repeatedly. As he chuckled to himself, Diamond exchanged the bell (amusingly enough) and some currency for a key to her room.
As she approached him with the metal key slung over her horn, Quillson couldn't help but smile once more. He stepped forward, squinting at the writing on the key to get a better idea of just where her room was.
"Oh, well you're right upstairs. Across from me if I remember correctly."
He started over towards the staircase across from them, turning back to address Diamond once more.
"Let's see about getting you all situated up there. And if it hasn't been said before, Welcome to Hoofington!"

"Fantastic! And thank you!" Diamond grinned and followed the Earth Pony up the stairs. At the top, she picked up her pace and passed Quillson and lead him to her room, following the directions the Innkeeper gave her. Once in front of her door, she wrapped the key in the pale blue aura of her magic and lifted it off her horn. Double checking the number on it and comparing it to the door. Satisfied it was, indeed, the same number, she unlocked the door and stepped in. Then immediately stuck her head back down, "Come on in!"
Diamond left the door open for Quillson and disappeared back into the room. She b-lined right for the bed, dropping her quiver haphazardly in the middle of the floor before leaping into the air and landing on her back on the mattress, bouncing twice before sitting up with a giggle.

Quill stepped up to the second floor, just as the Unicorn hurried past him. She made her way down the hall with a steady pace, forcing Quill to hurry a bit to keep up with the excited filly. By the time he walked up behind her, Diamond had already moved the key to unlock the door. Sure enough, he'd been right about her room's placement.
As she flung the door open inviting Quillson inside, he turned back from his door to see her dart inside. At a normal pace Quillson stepped into her chambers, those of which were a perfectly mirrored replica of his own room across the hall.
He turned to comment on their rooms' likeness of each other, almost walking into the Unicorn's quiver as it landed on the floor before him. This was directly followed by Diamond flinging herself onto the bed in a bouncing fit. She sat up looking at him, giggling out loud. He stood there for a moment before laughing too. Her excitement never ceased to surprise and amuse him.
Once he had stopped chuckling himself, he returned conversation to the filly with a generous smile.
"Well, I take it you like the bed then?"

Diamond giggles once more and nodded, "Sorry. Just a little test I like doing. You got to make sure the beds are comfy. Although I suppose I should have checked to make sure it was soft before jumping on it, but where's the fun in that?" she shifted a little to sit more comfortably on the bed and glanced around the room. Very quaint. Just like the rest of the town. It was nice.
"So!" she started to say while picking up her quiver with her magic and floating it across the room, standing it up and leaning it against the nightstand. She nodded at its placement and looked back to Quillson, "You seemed to have questions, right?"

Quillson watched as the quiver moved its way from the floor to across the room at its resting place against the night stand. He looked back to Diamond as she addressed him, thinking to himself. He'd actually forgotten about the whole incident in the woods for a moment. That... never happens. He'd been so distracted by the filly's silliness.... Oh well, no matter now.
"Oh, I definitely do! That is, if you don't mind answering them. I'm having a perfectly good time without the research at the moment, if that means anything to you."
He walked around the edge of the room as he talked, eventually deciding to plop down and take a seat in one of the corners, still facing where Diamond laid on the bed.

Diamond shrugged,
"Questions or idle chit-chat, doesn't matter to me! I already told you most about what I know about the attack, anyway. The only other bit was vague locations of the members of the teams that came over. Those mainly being Ponyville and its surrounding areas, and Canterlot."
She slid off the bed and stretched out, even though she was only laying for a moment or two and started to explore the room,
"As for chit-chat, we can talk about where we came from. Like I'm from Canterlot and came here for reasons I told you already."
she stopped by the window and peered out at the snow covered town, white flakes still falling.
"Or about things we like, like pudding! Or about what we think Pegasi do up there all day in the sky. Do they have sky plants?"
she turned away from the window and made her way over to a small dresser, busying herself with going through all the empty drawers, just to make sure they're actually empty.
"Or we can share cutiemark stories! Or just talk about our talents. Or hobbies. Or our families."
she left the drawers and stood in the middle of the room now,
"Are you hungry? No, never mind. It's still a tad too early for breakfast, isn't it?"

Quillson sat and watched, listening intently all the while Diamond made her way around the room. Looked like she had a hard time staying in one place for too long. That made him smile. She certainly came out with a lot of info for such a short amount of time talking. He didn't remember seeing plants in Cloudsdale before... but that doesn't mean there weren't any...
His mind raced through different topics, all of which the Filly had proposed to him seconds ago. Where to start, there's so much information to give and retain! This was going to be absolutely wonderful.
"Well, I'd love to learn as much about you as possible!" ...That was probably too forward. Why didn't he think a little more before saying something like that!? "Uh, just as a starter, I came from Manehattan originally. But to be honest, I haven't been back in a long while." She'd said where she came from, it only made sense to return that info with his own.
"I'm really intrigued as to how and where you got your cutie mark from. Would you mind telling me? I'm sure it's a wonderful story..." Don't be too forward, but don't be too shy. No sense in becoming off-putting to her. This usually came so easy to him, why is it difficult NOW?
