"I'm still not hungry." Shroud emphasized -- He was fairly sure, at this point, that if he ate anything, it'd just come right back up again. And if he had to insult Ranger's sister at all, he'd rather it be by ignoring her cooking rather than throwing it up because he wasn't feeling his greatest.
"But I will stay. Just until morning.. And then I'm out." Shroud murmured, sitting himself down beside the couch, on the floor, with a soft sigh.
"I don't remember what happened, but something tells me it was bad."

"Well, you lost." Ranger said, taking off his mask and sipping from his stew, "Knocked you out with a couple of tricks and tranquilized you." The woods pony explained, "You weren't bad, but you need some more control and preparation before fights like that."
"Though I figure I can help you on that part If there's something a ranger like me is good for, is for being prepared. After a few weeks with me you'll know the forest like the back of your hoof. Heck, we might even get lucky and find some new places while we're at it." Ranger grinned at him from the table. His face was not hideous, deformed or even exceptionally handsome. He was just a regular pony. Why he would bother wearing that wooden mask was anypony's guess.
"You and I are going to work great together, I can already tell."

"That wasn't it." Shroud stated abruptly, eyes keeping to the ground, "I didn't lose. Something else happened.. It doesn't feel right. I remember my promise, after your sister interfered, at least, even if I don't remember the rest."
...At least, that's what he would've said.
"As you wish, Sir." This was Storm Shroud's actual statement. Quiet, calm, and submissive. It were almost as if he were still tired, though that wasn't the case, since he'd just slept for hours. It was a few hours short of morning, in fact.
"If you say so." He murmured.

The next morning came on them much slower than either of them thought, Ranger was asleep on a sofa opposite of Storm Shroud, obviously not wanting to leave the pony alone. It was early in the morning when he stretched and got out of the chair, gesturing for Storm Shroud to follow him outside.
"Fresh air will do us both good, and I still need to give you the antidote to that venom." He explained, taking a large bucket in his mouth and heading a fair distance outside to wear a large tub full of hot water was waiting for them. "Sprite filled it up, she woke up an hour ago or so. So productive that filly." Ranger mentioned, pouring the extract into the water. "Alright, hop in, the water's good."

Storm Shroud had managed to fall back asleep again for a short while, though was awake again by the time Ranger had woken up, he had been able to watch a bit of Sprite's work in the early morning. He dragged his hooves as he rose himself up and followed Ranger outside, quirking a brow as Ranger poured the extract into the bath.
"You're curing me?" He asked, glancing to Ranger with suspicion in his eyes, "I thought you'd want my flying disabled as long as possible." He stepped toward the bath, eying the water now.

"Don't be stupid, why would I want that?" Ranger asked, yawning widely behind his mask, "Come on now, we haven't got all day." He urged, gesturing at the tub lazily. Soon Kuruka will be up, and they won't be able to converse at all.
Honestly Ranger did not know what to do with Storm Shroud at the moment, his behavior the previous night took him off guard. He really captured him for his own safety more than for some stupid dinner. A forced hospitalization for the night. The poor colt was confused and angry, with him already flying once into the forest, he couldn't give him a chance to do it again. He was going to take care of this pony. He was going to be friends with him and teach him all he could.

"Because.. Then you could ensure I don't fly away again, and drill whatever tactics you want into my head." Storm Shroud replied, stepping over the lip of the tub before sinking down into the water, closing his eyes and holding his breath as he dunked his head under briefly, since that's where the bomb had hit him.
Lifting his head above the water again, his mane poof was gone. He almost looked like an entirely different pony without his trademark poof, pulling the curtain of black aside to wipe his eyes before opening them.
"Or force me into more social situations. Breakfast? Lunch? Birthday party?" He peered up at Ranger.

"Speaking of which Sprite's birthday is next week, if you want to be nice bring her a gardening book. She loves her plants." Ranger said seriously, "But if you want the truth? I was worried about you. You were emotional, we're on the edge of the forest. We... we already had a pegasus run off into the forest in an emotional state. We thought she was eaten alive at first, but apparently she lost a wing and a leg and joined those guys who have been causing all the mess around Equestria recently." Ranger explained.
"Either way, I was afraid you might do something stupid...er to try and prove yourself to me. So I figured it would be best if you were around where I could keep an eye on you."

"Well.." Shroud muttered, flipping his mane back and out of the way, scrubbing his face with his hooves, "You won't have to worry about that anymore. You said I lost, and I can't remember what happened. I have no choice but to believe and obey you. My skills are worthless and need training." He responded, rising from the tub, going to step out to dry himself out.
"What's on the agenda, Sir?"

"Fun." Ranger said, "You're new and all, and I need to get to know you, so I arranged a day of fun for us today. A whole bunch of fun activities in which we can get to know each other and bond as a team. Including a visit to the carnival opening up at the edge of town today. Just you and me, no Kuruka." Ranger grinned at him behind his mask, "What do you think?"

Stepping a good ten feet or so away from the tub, Storm Shroud shook himself out, shaking the excess water out of his mane, wings, and tail. And once that was done, he lifted his wings, concentrating on trying to bring down a warm draft of wind to quick-dry his mane and wings - Assuming, of course, the extract had worked and he was back to normal.
"That seems unnecessary, Sir. But if it's what you wish. What's first on the list?"

"First on the list is stopping you from calling me sir and getting you to call me Ranger. How long do you think it's going to take?" Ranger asked, poking the pegasus colt with a hoof. He wasn't comfortable being called 'sir' he didn't think he earned it, and he didn't like the formality of it to begin with. Either way, if he was going to bound with Shroud, he needed to get him to call him by name.

"As you wish, Ranger." Shroud stepped back as he was poked, quirking a brow at the masked pony. There was little to be said - It was easy as that.
"Now what?" He asked, wings flapping at his sides. He noted how the extract had worked, and while he wasn't going to risk flying just yet, he was at least able to get enough of a warm draft going to dry his mane and tail into the trademark poofs he knew them to be.

"Now to stop you from saying, 'as you wish' all the time, just be yourself Shroudy. I know we got off to a bumpy start. But does it really have to be like this?" The masked pony asked with exasperation. If it wouldn't work out, Ranger figured he might as well just give him a recommendation and dish him out to the army. Though he wished it hadn't gotten this way. He still hoped to have some chance of making this relationship work.
"So let's just be chums, alright? That's what this day is all about. Just because I'm your commanding officer it doesn't mean we can't be friends, and it doesn't mean I don't want us to be friends either. So please? Go back to being like you were when we met?"

"You saw what happened when I tried to be myself." Storm Shroud replied, wings flapping promptly before snapping at his sides, "Whatever happened, I refuse to do that again. All I'm doing, anyway, is following orders, keeping my promise. There's nothing wrong with that, is there?" Shroud looked over his shoulder, staring intently at Ranger on this note.
"Besides. The moment I do get settled in and friendly, that's the moment I have to leave one way or another. Shipped out, recalled, moved up, moved down. Do you think I want that to happen again? Of course not. The military is the only place where making friends is the worst thing you can do." He stated firmly.
