Anypony could notice the absence of others in such huge rooms, halls and locations. But the feeling itself suddenly intensified. The echoes of their hoofsteps, the sound of them breathing. No noise, nothing at all. Lost Star paused, trying to feel whether there was a change in magical energies to go with the suddenly muffled closeness. She began to charge her horn once more, tasting the patterns with it. Lost realized that she was frustrated and thoroughly creeped out shortly after the third return to this seemingly endless corridor. "Oh, come on! I know I didn't pass through a hallway this long on the way in here!" She sighed, leaning against the wall. "I'll bet all those other guests have vanished, too. Stupid ghost house! If this magic barrier weren't here, I'd've probably already figured out the layout." While leaning against the wall, she flicked a hoof against it in irritation. Then something clicked mentally, and she pressed her ear to the wall while tapping at it, listening for signs of a hollow space. She did this every few paces down the hall, turning only if the hallway itself turned. As she walked, she kept her eyes and ears open, trying not to talk to herself. She paused to scratch an itch beneath her dress. Well... more like check on her prank supplies. String. I'd love some string right now.She walked on. I hope there's no minotaur in this maze. I'm not sure if they speak the same language as us. Wish I'd studied more on monstrous communication.

The inhabitants of this particular area were more often in cages now, and their appearances became stranger as Fluttershy and Ranger made their way deeper into the room. And what a large room it was, Fluttershy didn't think she had seen any walls since she had first entered. Just how big was this place anyway?
Well, I'm glad that there is so much space for the animals to explore, but how does anypony find their way back?
There were more dangerous looking plants in this area too. Fluttershy found herself crowding in closer to Ranger out of nervousness. For his part, Ranger seemed more excited than anything else as he checked out the plants. Fluttershy's interest in the animals had waned slightly as their interest in her started to seem more menacing. Yes, some of these caged creatures looked at Fluttershy as though she might be quite delicious. She gave up going closer to the cages after one creature tried to swipe her with long claws. At first she had felt upset at seeing such magnificent creatures held behind bars, now she saw the necessity of it.
But still, I may try to talk to this Rainlock pony and see if I can't get him to release some of these poor creatures. Even after being attacked, Fluttershy was very sensitive to the needs of animals.
Ranger, completely absorbed and fascinated by his surroundings seemed determined to push on.
"Oh, Ranger I don't think-" Fluttershy began hesitantly, but she stopped and gasped as she saw something slink by. She hadn't gotten a clear image of it, but it seemed sinister. At a tap from Ranger, she gulped nervously and continued on with him, all desire to speak dying in her throat.

"What in the hay?" Trace groaned as yet another 'map' turned out to be blank. She could have sworn this was the very same one that the other mare explained to her just few moments ago. "Is there some magic goin' on?" she asked aloud as she turned the old paper over, as if the ink could somehow move to the other side. "Or disappearin' ink, maybe?" She groaned again and brushed the blank map aside, causing it to fall from the table and onto a building pile of other blank pages.
Trace's respect for the maps had faded just as quickly as the ink, leaving her feeling cheated. She tapped a hoof on the table top as she glanced around the room. All the maps. How could all of them be blank?
She frozen as the sudden emptiness of the room sunk in, the tapping of her hoof echoing back to her as the sound bounced around the room. She quickly felt very uncomfortable and wanted to be far away from the cheating pages. She backed away from the table, gulping as a shiver ran down her spin.
"Treasures!" Trace nodded, "That's an idea. Ayup. Ah'll go look at his treasury..." She cleared her throat and quickly moved to leave, glancing back over her shoulder at the shelves quickly before slipping away.

Heartstring hadn’t even really noticed the music from the Banquet hall was still playing until it was silenced.
“They must be making some sort of announcement or something.” The stallion thought aloud as the room suddenly felt empty. For the first time since leaving the group, Heartstring felt alone. His loneliness intensified as he tried on another outfit from some far-off land. He looked divine in this apparel, but with nopony around to enjoy it with him it seemed futile.
“Odd, it was warm in here a moment ago.” Heartstring stated rather flatly with a shiver, the temperature in the room had dropped at least 5 degrees. Heartstring's thoughts were sidetracked by movement behind him. Finally somepony to talk to! He spun around gracefully, straightening his posture and donning a grin to greet his audience.
“Good-,” Heartstring stopped midsentence and his expression sagged when he realized that there was nopony there, ”-...evening.” Perhaps it was all in his head?
When Heartstring’s attention returned to the mirror, he nearly jumped out of his skin. The movement was now in front of him. The stallion laughed nervously “That’s impossible, unless there’s something in the mirror, and that’s equally impossible…..right?”
Every instinct Heartstring had told him to bolt and put as much distance between himself and that mirror. Unfortunately the only command his legs would take was to back away slowly.

Wildfire bumped into the wall, waking herself up and rolling over quickly. She had seemingly dozed off in mid flight, enjoying the light drizzle with the thunder and lightning singing her a lullaby. She hovered over to the weather machine and turned it off, shaking herself dry. She took a quick glance over the edge, noticing a glint of something shiny on the ground far below. "What do we have here?" She said to nopony in particular as she leaped over the railing and free-fell half way down, stopping herself above the treetops and gliding down to the object. "Somepony must of dropped it earlier."

Lost sighed, sitting against the wall. Nevermind the dress, if this place was filthy or not didn't matter now. She was tired and thirsty, and the effort of disentangling a spell she could barely sense was draining. And since she seemed to be trapped in a dimensional loop in this purgatory of a hallway, she was just going to have to focus her efforts on preserving her energy.
Lost realized she was getting sleepy. That didn't bode well.

As Wildfire approached the object, she heard a sudden sound, she could see what it was, just a small valve, something that must have fallen from the machine at some point. But far more worrying was the strange sounds coming from all around her, the entire room became covered in mist, so much so that she could barely see her hoof in front of her face. Much less the ceiling or the walkway above. Suddenly it became terribly quiet, so much so that Wildfire could hear herself breath. This eerie silence stood heavily in the massive room around her.
Whatever it was that Heartstring saw seemed to have vanished, before a sudden screech was heard from one of the mirrors near the exit, it started abruptly climaxed and then stopped just as suddenly, and when inspected, he saw the mirror was scratched, as though something scraped at it forcefully. His reflection on it however, remained intact. Whatever that scratch was, it was from within the mirror.
When Lost leaned against the wall she noticed again the turn to the mysterious long hallway, the one she kept getting to but never crossed. Somehow she knew it was the wrong way, the door at the end of it looked nothing like any of the doors she had passed before. But at this point everything was worth a try.
The Treasury was full of strange and bizarre artifacts, from the most small jewel or trinket to the largest glowing statues. Rainlock sure has been around, there were artifacts from all over the world, and all were unique. But she had heard so much about his real treasures, the ones hidden in the vault, which was now conspicuously open. She wouldn't have known it was a vault otherwise, it was hidden beneath the rug, but the rug seemed to have been folded aside haphazardly, with the vault remaining open. Someone must be in there now. A burglar, or one of the security guards? Maybe a guest. or even Gale herself. Either way, something wasn't entirely right.

Entirely OOC post: Just to clarify a point, is Lost in a hallway or a great hall? Because after getting lost and ending up in the same place three times, she has been walking down the same hallway she supposedly isn't able to cross and can't see the end of, testing its walls with her hoof, looking for open spaces and hidden passages. "Hallway" refers to a corridor such as one might find in a castle or home, which leads to various halls and other rooms, and which itself might have displays of things along its length; it is rarely counted as a room in its own right, but it is typically an indoor space. A "hall" refers to a spacious room inside a building (and sometimes the building itself), where gatherings may be held; a ballroom is a hall with a dance floor and often a musical instrument or orchestral space in it. A "great hall" is a particularly large hall, typically central or important in nature, such as a throne room or communal feast hall.
Also, nothing was mentioned earlier of Lost knowing that this hallway was the wrong direction; she's disoriented and believes she's being deliberately misdirected, and has been searching for hidden things in the "obvious" wrong direction for a while now, since the hallway wasn't going to leave her alone and the mansion surely wasn't that badly disorganized.
