'Fluttershy'. So that was the mare's name. Trace found herself watching Ranger and Fluttershy again, and pulled her gaze off them to look at the hall they had entered. More dancing ponies, some food and a band. How lovely it all was, and Trace didn't care for any of it. Gale started listing off other areas they were going to visit, which were the areas listened in the invitation. Again, Trace had little interest in most of it, but the last two said got her perk up a little. The Treasure Room and the Doctors den. She couldn't wait to get a look at those maps.

Candle followed along in relative silence, not wanting to disturb their escort "Gale". It was a nice sight having finally come across the sophisticated event she had expected, the evening had been quite troublesome up until this point. She noted Fluttershy's name in case she would need it later, listening to the tour as Gale told them about the different places they would be visiting later. There may have been a few she wasn't interested in in the slightest, but to be polite she made sure to listen to everything. It was unfortunate that they'd not be able to meet the Doctor yet, although she was now looking forward to the rest of the night.

Lost looked closer, deciding that with all the activity she could see from this new vantage, maybe this wasn't all illusions and lies. But she headed along with the rest of the tour group, wondering what each room really had in it. Her voice was quiet, and every now and then she tried building up some energy through her horn, gently testing the suppression.
I thought we weren't supposed to know who anypony is until after the reveal. But I don't know who that is anyway!

At having her name mentioned, Fluttershy felt ready to sink through the floor. Many of the other ponies glanced her way, appraising her through their masks. She made a small, squeaky noise in the back of her throat and blushed. Dropping her eyes to the floor, she tried to imagine that she was somewhere else. This party was definitely not fun for her anymore.
Why, oh why did I have to be singled out? Fluttershy thought sadly, I just wanted to float through this place anonymously, I was so happy to have this mask to hide behind. She wanted to run home to her friends. They would hug her, tell her everything was all right and that she was being silly. Most of all, she missed Rarity at this moment. Brave, sociable Rarity would know how to handle this crowd. She should be here... not me.
Ranger was still a comfort, but Fluttershy wanted to get to where the animals were soon, she didn't know how much more of this she could handle.

Ranger could see how uncomfortable Fluttershy was. He couldn't bear to watch a friend like that, he was a hero after all. And heroes never let their friends down. EVER. He would make Fluttershy comfortable, her evening would be the best!
"Hold on, got an itch." He said, winking at the pink maned Pegasus, before removing his mask entirely to scratch at his snout, winking again to her before putting his mask back on.
Though it seemed like a simple act, it left a great impact, Fluttershy has known Ranger for a long time, in fact, she knew him ever since she was in Ponyville. But no one in Ponyville had ever seen Ranger without his mask on. He never took it off, ever. And just now, he did that, only to make her more comfortable with her name being said.
Ranger smiled behind his mask, utterly aware he breached etiquette by removing his mask, and even more aware that now a Ponyvillian knows what he looks like, even if she doesn't know who he really is. But he couldn't let her feel bad, this was her night, she invited him, and he would be the best company, ever.

Gale raised an eyebrow at Ranger's lack of ettiquette, but the sweetness of this act brought a smile to her lips. How cute, he was doing it to make his girlfriend feel more comofrtable. Turning back around she led them all through a maze of corridors, until they finally reached a massive, thick wooden door. Gale seemed to have no problem pushing it open, despite its massive size, however.
Inside it was like a whole new world. Shelves atop shelves of books, literally thousands of books, in a maze of aisles, reaching up to the ceiling, which was unbelievably high, as the room was at least two or three stories large, busts of unicorns, ponies and pegasi decorated all of the shelves at random intervals, and the small amounts of light coming from the torches around gave the room a rather warm appearance.
"This, is the great Rainlock Library, complete literary works regarding every subject imaginable. Spellbooks, history books, art books and science books are just the start. This collection can help any research from start to finish. Some of these books can only be found right here, especially in the spellbook section. Exclusive knowledge, reserved for hundreds of years, yours for only one night. Who would like to remain here?" Gale finally asked, finishing her speech about the library.
Incredibly enough, the library seemed to stretch on forever, in fact, none of the ponies could even see the edge of it throughout the labyrinth of bookshelves. So much knowledge, all concentrated in one place. If Dr. Rainlock has indeed read all of these books, he would be the most intellectually masterful pony in Equestria. Perhaps rivaling even the Princesses themselves! This was an opprotunity not to pass by! A once in a lifetime chance to be exposed to all of this information!
Gale smiled sweetly at the group of ponies, sitting down patiently and waiting for them to decide who wants to stay there.

Selenia took no notice of Ranger's action. She was too busy listening to Gale explain more of the mansion, when they came upon the massive gateway to the Library. The instant they entered, Selenia caught herself staring at the hundreds of thousands of books stacked up to the ceiling. This is what she had been waiting for.
'The ceiling must be at least 70 feet up... This room can't have been built outside, so we must be in a massive underground cavern.' She thought to herself, still fixated on the ceiling and towering shelves. When the group stopped and Gale started her speech, Selenia nearly fell to her knees.
"It's...Beautiful." She wiped a small tear that was forming under her eyes. So much nowledge, and so unique. Such rare tomes buried away in these ancient shelves, she could learn so much more. Perhaps there were even a few books on dark magic and other unique, ancient forms of the magical arts, long forgotten and unused.
Gale finished her speech and Selenia stepped forward, not allowing the fellow members of her party to decide who was to stay. "I would like to stay." She stood boldly in front of everyone else, facing Gale with a solid smile. "I have waited years for this opportunity."

Lost quiets, and stops pushing at the magic suppression. There's something hiding in there, she thinks. I know I'm not paranoid, I get this feeling when someone's waiting to play a prank on me. Then she thinks about the weather. Well... hm. Oh, wait!
"Ms. Gale, what if we decide to look at one thing and then come back to another?"

Trace let out a low whistle. It was an impressive collection, but it had to be far more then any pony could ever read in a lifetime. She tiled her head back as she looked around at the room. Books were everywhere. Books on every topic, according to Gale. Trace didn't bother with books too often, she preferred to learn things firsthoof, and she wouldn't be staying. But all the same... that was a lot of books.

Wildfire let out a light yawn and landed, figuring they would be there for a few moments as everypony decided whether or not they would stay or continue. The only thing on the list that caught her attention, and the only reason she had not thrown the invitation in the trash, was the weather room. She flicked her hood back and tossed her mane about, careful not to knock her mask off as she got comfy.

Heartstring was initially taken aback. He didn’t know who Fluttershy was, but he was certainly getting tired of her guest stealing his thunder. Who did this pony think he was? Well, from his actions, a far more gallant stallion than Heartstring. One was a chivalrous knight; one was a self-centered peacock, it was obvious who they would choose. He couldn’t honestly say he’d choose himself in this situation.
Engrossed in his own thoughts, he barely registered the magnificence of the library until their hostess posed her question. A quick glance at his surroundings left Heartstring awestruck, and why wouldn’t he be in the presence of the vastest library the earth pony had ever seen. If his mind wasn’t set on more important things he would have stayed, for it reminded him of his days as a colt in the Ponyville library, except that this collection rivaled Celestia’s. This Dr. Rainlock was turning out to be more impressive by the minute.

Fluttershy felt her breath catch in her throat as Ranger removed his mask. It was far too brief for her to catch perfectly all of his facial features in her memory, but she got a general impression. It was odd, she had always wondered if he hid his face perhaps because he felt unattractive- but honestly, he was a very ordinary looking pony. Not strikingly handsome perhaps, but definitely not displeasing to look upon.
He must wear a mask for other reasons then... Fluttershy thought. Perhaps, like me, he feels uncomfortable when ponies look too closely at him?
But that didn't make any sense. He displayed much more poise and confidence than she did, and the mask only made some ponies even more interested in looking at Ranger. All the same, Fluttershy both appreciated and was in awe of her guest at this simple act of kindness. Now they were both revealed to the party, and she felt less scrutinized. Fluttershy flashed Ranger a grateful smile. Really, she could have hugged him for doing such a nice thing, but she was much too shy for such an open display of gratitude. Instead, as they followed Gale, Fluttershy whispered "thank you!" to Ranger. It was as much as she could manage.
Gale took them into the very impressive library. Fluttershy couldn't help but feel small with all those books towering above her. It was rather gloomy to her eyes, yet she had to smile thinking about how excited Twilight Sparkle would have been if she were here.
One of the other ponies, the mare in the fox mask seemed very emotional about the display. Although Fluttershy couldn't really sympathize with her, she filed the information away in the back of her mind to possibly tell Twilight later. Fluttershy herself rarely came across anypony as passionate as Twilight about books.

Ranger bumped into Fluttershy gently and winked at her gratitude, "Always." Ranger himself wasn't too impressed with the library. He wondered if there would be any books about Dragon Crown plants, but he doubted he'd have the time to find one before the party ended. Either way, he wasn't a fan of reading, and much preferred to see the Greenhouse Gale mentioned.
He wasn't regretting showing his face, yet, but he couldn't help himself, Fluttershy needed him and he answered the call proudly.

"You are perfectly allowed!" Gale said with a pleasant smile, "Very well then, Selenia, you may stay here, enjoy your reading! The Dr. has collected these rare books over many a year, and having them finally read is nothing less than his greatest wish for this lirbary."
At that, the female pegasus turned, leading the rest of the group outside, "Next up is the Weather Room, an original invention by Dr. Rainlock himself! An ingenious one if I do say so myself." She commented, continuing to lead through the vast corridors of the mansion effortlessly. Peeking into rooms they passed over, the ponies could see even more dancing pairs in more private areas, dancing with each other. The music from the banquet hall has not been heard at all even before they reached the library, an odd fact considering that in the entrance hall it was heard easily.
And sooner, rather than later, they reached a long staircase leading down to a metal door, opening to a catwalk suspended in the air, at least several stories high over an entire room. Before the vast hall with the catwalk, was a simple looking machine, the controls for the weather room, while the massive hall itself was the weather room proper.
Leading them to the center of the catwalk, a sort of observation deck, Gale stopped, allowing the other ponies to take in the magnitude of this gigantic area. It could arguably be as big as the banquet hall itself,
"This, is the weather room. With an automated weather control machine, invented by the Doctor, Pegasi can freely train here to deal with any possible weather situation. From simple clouds to raging typhoons and tornadoes."

Wildfires eyes lit up at the sight of the weather room. It wasn't much to look at, but it was huge! And unless Gale was a liar, she could create hurricanes, tornados and all sorts ofother storms to train, or in her case, relax in. She let out a little Squee as she went to run forward towards the controls but caught herself, blushing. She turned to Gale and smiled, "I'll admit, i'm impressed. I think i'll hang here."
