So here's the little game, no prizes but, something to consider. I also completely stole the idea from a Reddit thread. It is simple, pick four music artists with an example of what you'd call their definitive work (or you really like) which fall into one of the following categories: 1. An artist you figure we've all heard before. 2. An artist we maybe have heard. 3. An artist we've unlikely heard of. 4. An artist we've almost certainly have never heard before. You can either just link their name/band or to some multimedia source, such as youtube. Please keep it around PG-13, so nothing raunchy or overtly violent. I'm just curious to see what all you ponies, griffons, and kelpie's listen too. For you younger ones, this is the type of thing through which I've found my favorite artists, so let's see what you younger generations are listening too that isn't Justin Bieber and vise-versa (And no, not just pony music/remixes). Here's my example: 1. Bad Religion: (Sorrow: www.youtube.com/watch?v=31eMO9TlKT4)2. The Decemberists: (16 Military Wives - Was a HS Model UN member/founder, so this is extra awesome, as well at a private school no less: www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7fzUGR8ZH4)3. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds: {Saint Huck: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Af275kF9DQM&list=RDAf275kF9DQM)4. Stan Rogers:{Barret's Privateers: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIwzRkjn86w}Consider those 4 definitive artists from the last decade and a half of my life. Also, to add, some others for consideration (mostly because these were alternative considerations for several slots): Opeth: {The Drapery Falls: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIkTFGySF3w} VAST: {Here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HNSViwZjQo}The Mars Volta: {Roulette Dares: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7Z99cGSfzs}The Tossers: {The Parting Glass: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUJRRozx7Ic}

I'm gonna say we should go even further than that. For each of your artists, link one of their really well known (or at least most popular) songs and one of their more obscure ones. 1. Frank Sinatra (Well Known - Come Fly With Me: www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmQq6yLe2ww) (Obscure - The Coffee Song: www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3MqmV47Lq8) 2. Creedence Clearwater Revival (Well Known - Fortunate Son: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ec0XKhAHR5I) (Obscure - Lookin' Out My Back Door: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aae_RHRptRg) 3. The Aquabats (Well Known - Super Rad: www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JJKfjiw1SE) (Obscure - Adventure Today: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ME3AToph4Hs) 4. Fingers: (Well Known - Video Games: www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkD64FWrkrE) (Obscure - This band is so obscure that I honestly don't think they have another song up on YouTube.) My tastes when it comes to music is really a potpourri of stuff, so long as it wasn't made using a computer. Got a bazillion albums in my iTunes, but usually only one song from each of 'em. If an artist does manage to get more than one song in there, however, then they're pretty highly regarded by my standards.
And by the way Retort, you must be either an old fart or a hipster, because I didn't recognize any of your artists. Though I really liked that last one. Makes me want to look into more of his stuff.

I'd like to think of myself as a little bit of both, thank you very much. Though not even Bad Religion? They are like the best selling punk-rock act of all time, surpassing even the Ramones. As for "that last one", are you referring to The Tossers or Stan Rogers? Any of our great white north fellows I'd hope know Stan Roger as he's essentially a national treasure up there, perhaps like John Denver or Pete Seeger in the US; as for the Tossers, I have a soft spot for Irish Rebel music thanks to my mother and Catholic upbringing during the Troubles. We were hardcore supporters of the IRA back in the day. Anyway, the Tosser's possibly do it best (with all due respect to The Dubliners and Wolfe Tones).

Update: Found a new group from down south where the crazy fuzzy fruit come from (heard there's some sort of bird actually) that does some nice celtic folk music. Ceol Manwatu (ANZAC COVE: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogf-pjrJpLk ) Any pony else have something to add? Or just me and Klepto. Red!? Something Middle Eastern/Jewish maybe? Or anyone, really. Tartarus, if you have a band/group I like, i may just find something special for your character in RP. So, all hear that!? If you think you can find a group I haven't heard who I'd like, there's a prize in it for you! So, all you posters, try and one-up the "hipster".

Oh Disturbed and Evanescence, it's like High School all over again. Ah, Bring me to Life; I spent a time in Asia in '07, went to a dozen different countries and every club, etc... always had a karaoke or local band doing a terrible cover of that song. Of course, by 07 it was already an old song, then made worse with terrible engrish singing. Now, I'll always associate that song with unknowlingly drinking cut formaldehyde in the Philippines.

That sounds fun. I grew up listening to Evanescence and Disturbed. My mother can sing evanescence pretty well, and I've been able to sing like David Draiman since I was 15. Though, that's only about two years now. Eh. Did you check out Wardruna?

Yeah, interesting but not my thing. Might try a few other songs of theirs later though.
