Ace couldn't help but chuckle at the two individuals beside him.
"Why, yes Sylvia, I can use anything around me. I was merely remarking that I am more accustomed to preparing beforehoof..."
He picked up a loose pebble off of the ground, inspecting it in earnest.
"Golden Light, I can't actually do magic. However, by telling others that I can do tricks, it catches their attention. Like the Griffons and their airships, it serves a purpose that most wouldn't think of. Case in point, it pays for my necessities, such as food."
He tossed the pebble to the side, before smiling as his eyes found a discarded newspaper.
"Allow me to demonstrate!"
He swiped the paper up, flattening out the creases, and shaking out loose debris.
"I want you both to each take a part of this, and tear it up."
He sat back, tearing the yellowed piece along the seam, handing a page to each of them.

Sylvia watched him curiously and looked at Golden Light with a shrug. She took her paper and began to slice quickly through it with quick motions of her claws, the pieces scattered on the ground before Ace. She watched him curiously, wondering what he was going to do with it.

"Huh?" Golden Light replied.
If he couldn't do real magic then why was it called magic? A trick? Wasn't tricking others bad? A demonstration was soon decided and all the colt did was wait and see just what Ace meant. Course when the newspaper was held out to him, accepting it, he started to tear it. It was a bit harder since he didn't have claws like Sylvia but he got the task down and glanced at the pieces of paper on the ground before looking up.
"Okay." Golden Light said.

Ace chuckled, his ears quivering in his excitement.
"Now watch closely..." He swept up both piles of paper with a flourish, picking them up carefully as he stowed them in his jacket.
"Now, for the real fun..." He winked at the colt, before reaching in the same pocket he had placed the shreds. He removed not torn paper, as one would be apt to believe, but, instead, brought out the entire newspaper page.
"Good as new, eh?" He shook it out, offering it to Golden Light and Sylvia to confirm that the parchment had, indeed, been restored to its previous condition.

The dragon watched curiously as he stuffed the pieces in his jacket. As the paper appeared, she plucked it gingerly from the pony with her claws, peering at it curiously, "It indeed looks like the same paper. Very impressive." She lowered it for Golden Light to see, "I've never seen a trick like that before. Good work." She sat on her haunches and gave an awkward clap of her claws before falling back on all fours with a large 'thump' that shook the ground beneath the odd group.

Golden Light's ears twitched as his ruby gaze remained on the pieces of paper as Ace took them back. Though it soon disappeared into the pocket it had originally come from and Golden Light leaned a bit forward, trying to look in the pocket from where he was at but was unable to. When Ace winked at him, the young colt tilted his head confused. However the young colt pushed that confusion aside to try and get a look at the paper as it was brought back out, though Sylvia was first to react and she took it from Ace. Though Golden Light tried to see it despite the obvious height difference. So when it was lowered, it was clear the colt was very interested.
It was whole, no sign of tearing. But...but how? It was the same paper and it was repaired but still...how? Knowing he wouldn't figure it out, he turned his gaze to Ace and nodded.
"It is back to normal." Golden Light replied.

Ace smiled to the younger colt.
"As it would seem... However, appearances are quite deceiving... I fell your curiosity burning within you, for you desire to know how I accomplished such a trick. Well, you are in luck." Ace took a step towards the smaller figure, craning his head down to make himself level with Golden Light.
"I will tell you how I did it..." Ace straightened back up, addressing Sylvia as his voice returned to a normal volume.
"Both of you..." he let the words hang in the air, adding what he hoped was a touch of suspense, before reaching back into his pocket.
"You see, you only believe that the paper was restored... However, that's not even the same paper." Ace emptied the torn shreds of newsprint onto the ground.
"I always grab a spare paper when I make my way into a new town, solely for that very trick there. I had the paper you're now holding folded up inside my pocket..."

Sylvia listened intently, and a smirk came to her face, "Ahh, I see. So you used trickery." She poked his snout playfully with her claw, making sure not to cut the smaller creature. The dragon was fascinated. She didn't even notice him take out the new paper. Of course, she also didn't expect to be tricked so easily.
"That's a very interesting thing, and it's neat to know that 'magic' can be used by anyone. Even without magical capabilities. Though my fire is all the magic I need." She said proudly, lifting her head up and sending a small stream of fire into the air to show off.

Well it wasn't like he was trying to hide his curiosity. So it was obvious he was wanting to know, made even more so obvious by his questioning. Though he hadn't expected Ace to get eye level with him for a moment and actually say that he'd tell em how he did it, both of em. A confused expression came to his young face upon being told it wasn't the same paper and the original one was still in shreds, now dumped out of the Pegasus's pocket onto the ground. Oh....well that actually made sense.
"I get it." Golden Light spoke up after a moment, though his attention soon went to Slyvia as she poked Ace's snout carefully.
Seeing the fire be released, Golden Light was honestly a bit spooked by it but not too badly. After all, he hadn't seen anything breathe fire even though he read that dragons could do that. Seeing it was a whole different thing, mainly because you could tell it was very real. Sure he knew dragons were real but as the old saying went, seeing is believing.
"You can fly as well, doesn't that count?" Golden Light asked with a tilted head.

Ace went slightly cross-eyed when Sylvia poked his snout, shaking his head before watching her spit a small blast of flame.
"Hah, that's cool!" He laughed. Golden Light then asked about Sylvia being able to fly.
"Oh yeah... Looks like we both have a little natural magic in us, eh Sylvia? You have fire, and I can walk on clouds."

Sylvia's chest puffed up proudly at Golden Light's question, "Of course I can fly. These wings aren't just for looks, you know?" She chuckled and glanced at the Pegasus, "I know you can fly as well. I've never heard of a being that's able to walk on clouds, before. I've met other Pegasi before, but didn't know of that skill." She folded her wings against her back and motioned for them to continue their walk through the city streets.

It was neat sounding to be able to fly, sure he could watch Pegasuses fly if he wanted. Course he'd never fly. To his knowledge he had no magic, just a thing for reading. Oh well.
"I know, what I meant was....don't they count as magic? Being able to fly as magic?" Golden Light spoke.
With the gesture to keep moving, the young colt complied. Just walking along at the same pace was before. Not really having anything to contribute to the conversation.

Ace nodded, keeping up with his two counterparts.
"Yes, it does count as magic Golden Light." He smiled, before looking back at Sylvia.
"Cloudsdale is built up in the clouds, actually."

Sylvia looked to Ace with a raised brow, "I don't know if flying counts as magic. To me it seems like a biological ability. Though, perhaps it is different for you ponies." She pointed to the feathery wings that seemed very incapable of carrying the pony in the air. She wasn't quite sure how pony magic worked.
"And a city built into the clouds? It sounds fascinating." The dragon looked up at the sky. "Well, it was a pleasure speaking to you two, but I think I must head out on my own way. There's a lot I'd like to explore, and I don't like staying in one place for too long." A melodic chuckle escaped her scaly lips as she spread her wings, "It was wonderful to meet you, Golden and Ace." She bowed her head to the both of them.
