The air was brisk and thin, yet the clouds were translucent and in hiding. Could clouds be startled by Clockworks new machine that he was setting up in the middle of Canterlot square, or was the loud crowd of ponies scaring them away? who knows. The time was high noon, ponies were going for lunch or brunch, and others who worked the night were heading home. No pony seemed troubled by the machine that Clockwork was building, in fact some were intrigued but others were hateful and cruel due to the "Un-prim and proper piece of machinery that held no value to their day." Clockwork didn't care though.
The time was nigh, two full hours passed in the day. Clockwork cleared his throat and spoke to the public "Gentle-colts! Gentle-mares! Gaze your illustrious eyes upon my creation! For those who dare witness it's shear beauty will be petrified in awe!" the ponies didn't care, notice, or even pay the slightest of attention to his voice. "Mares? Gentle-colts?" He sighed a bit and sat down Bloody Hay... he thought to himself.
His machine was a large clockwork waterwheel with light bulbs surrounding it. It was attached to the fountain, but he hasn't connected the pump to it yet, but he will...once someone notices, whether that be a lone stallion, or a couple, he will wait.

Next to one of the ports the airship gently bumped the dock as large stallions and royal gaurds stood awaiting the shipment. One day of shore leave the captain had said then it was down to the southern continent to see what else they scrounge up while picking up their "normal" shipments. Windsail knew the captain had been crooked from the beginning but all he needed was just a few hours to go over his plan to see how long it would take to have his own ship.
He ruffled his fuschia feathers as he glided down to the dock. The illegal cargo the captain would send down when most ponies were rightfully sleeping in their beds. Either way he had enough to buy some real food after the long voyage and possibly see a few sights of Canterlot. A rare stop for the crew, for being so near to the Royal armies.
He circled the air his money bag jingling slightly against his rapier. Bellow he saw a strangely dressed pony desperately calling the masses next to a strange device. His head seemed to drop as he turned his back to the crowd.
Curiosity got the better of this pegasus as he landed proudly amongst the crows. Hey there mate, what is all this then? Could hear you hollerin' a good hundred feet in the air. he spoke looking at the large contraption with more interest as the glass caught the light from the afternoon sun.

His head shot up like a bolt firing from a crossbow. He smiled a devilish and joyous smile "Ahhh Good day sir..." he said tipping a hat with his wing "I am glad you asked about my works..." He smiled a bit more, now some of the ponies in the crowd looking a tiny bit curious but not much. "This, good sir, is a clockwork water based light show mechanism that works off the water of this 'ere fountain." He smiled more and attached a tube to one of the fountains sides in which it sprouted water from, but the machine didn't turn on. "Do you wish to see the marvels in which this basic contraption holds?" he asked, his smile still devilish and joyous.
The crowds still didn't three bits about his work, nor would they even take money to see it. They just passed by, doing what they do best, and that is being prim, proper, fancy, elegant, and a small dash of ego.

Windsail ruffled his feathers feeling a bit uncomfortable with the over exuberant pegasus. His dark blue eyes trailed the complicated looking machine. Yes mate, but what is it exactly does do? He had his doubts. It looked like a normally waterwheel with bits and bobs attached. Either way it was intriguing, especially when involving the intriguing gears.

Clock grins greatly and his flips the switch. Water begins to flow through it and the only a few lights light up, but as those lights went lit up, they projected sounds of a piano. The red light was the lowest, and the normal light was the highest. As the water wheel turned, so did the gears. The lights hit off at different intervals to produce a strange melodic song. The song was mainly on the low scale range with a few high notes that broke it's tune.
He turns to the pegasus and smiles to him "So good chap, What do you think about this?" he turned off the switch and the music stopped along with the lights and the waterwheel. He sat back on the fountains edge and waited for his response.

Windsail blinked a couple times, then scratched his ear. That be certainly somethin'...It's like a music box but thar be alot more o' it To be honest the Pegasus had never seen anything like it. He had traveled the world of known Equestria. What made an elaborate pony such as yourself think o' it? The fuschia pony slowly walked around the fountain examining the mechanism. Curious as to how the music was created.
