Heart looked out of her bedroom window at the sleet falling gently form the sky covering the ground in a beautiful blanket of white snow, the occasional pony going past had left tracks in their wake giving a quiet but not deserted feel to the morning.
The weather Pegasi had obviously been hard at work setting this years weather cycle. The fire in her room was giving a lovely glow to her surroundings making her feel lazy and a bit toasty.
She watched a couple of ponies go about their business opening their shops, getting to where they needed to be. All with their heads low trying to protect themselves from the cold with saddles and scarves done up tightly.
After a few minutes an idea dawned on her; "I know! Everypony loves a warm bowl of soup on a cold winters day and I have a ton of vegetables left over in store that need to be used up, I'll use them all up and make some soup I can sell at a reduced price to help warm up some of these ponies"
She smiled to herself with some motivation for the day and set about making some of the best soup she had ever made, full of nice chunks of the last remaining fresh vegetables in her store room. It smelt divine to her and when she tasted it she grinned with pride.
"Perfect!" She declared a little louder then a pony on her own should.
Hastily she penned a sign to hang in her café window, it read:
Special today! Fresh home made vegetable soup. Warm and tasty Only 2 Bits including bread!
She returned behind the counter putting the soup on the hob with the temperature turned down so it would stay warm and cut a few slices of bread.

Apple Cider walked slowly down the street, more like trudging as there were several inches of snow on the ground. She had her head down, hoping her hat would shield her from the onslaught of white snowflakes. "This snow isn't lettin up! Why I haven't seen it like this in forever."
Apple Cider then saw a new store called The Welcome Hearts Cafe. "Well it seems new businesses are poppin' up like corn stalks here in Hoffington." She then noticed the sign for the hot soup, and her stomach replied in agreement with a low growl. "Oh mah! It seems my stomach is lookin fer something ta eat. I guess I should check this new cafe place out."
Apple Cider then stepped into the cafe and removed her hat before addressing the pony at the counter. "Howdy. I saw yer sign about havin some soup. I sure could use somethin' hot to warm me up after that storm out there."

Heart looked up at the noise of the door opening and smiled warmly. "Good morning! Welcome to the Welcome Heart Café! That storm does look a bit mean out there so I made up some lovely soup, please take a seat ill bring your soup right over." Heart smiled and walked over to the large saucepan of steaming soup and used her telekinesis to ladle out a generous sized bowl of soup. "Would you like some bread with that?"

"Thank you kindly," Apple Cider said as she took a seat. Upon being asked about bread Apple Cider replied, "I think some bread will be nice. By the way, my name's Apple Cider. What's yer name?"

"OH! I'm sorry I'm being rude." Heart rpelied blushing slightly. "My name is Heart Warmer, It's a pleasure to meet you."
Heart trotted up to Apple with a steaming bowl of soup being levitated in front of her before setting it down in front of Apple Cider followed by a few slices of frshly cut bread. "I hope this helps take away those Winter chills" She smiled warmly pausing for a moment.
"Sorry to ask hon but im rather new to town, are you from around here?

"I'm sure it will," Apple Cider said as she tried some. "Mmm... this soup is might fine there Heart Warmer, an' it certainly is warmin' me up. I was actually born and raised here in Hoofington. When I got older I moved to Appleoosa to work at a cider mill, yet every so often I come back to my hometown especially to see my parents. And it looks like you were interested in this place too. Well let me be the first ta welcome ya to Hoofington, unless of course you've met some other ponies before me. Everypony here is mighty friendly an' helpful."

Heart smiled and blushed at the compliment. "awww thanks for the compliment hon"
Heart looked out the window briefly watching the ponies walk past. "Well im rather new to town and have spent most of my time setting up the café so not really had a chance to meet anypony other then delivery ponies." Heart laughed a little nervously realising she really hadn't had a chance to meet anypony. She smiled again though. "But it is a real pleasure to meet you miss, do you know many ponies about the town?"

"Well, welcome to Hoofington then! Alot of the ponies I knew when I was a filly growin' up here had moved on, but there are still a few who are still here. Ah know a few ponies like the mayor an' the owner of the inn down the street. An' of course ah know mah parents who live at the farm at the edge of the town. Ya probably saw that place as it it has a big ol' barn with a mural of a basket of apple on it. Are ya lookin' fer anypony in particular?"

Traveling. Day after day. Only to stop for a couple of days...from town to town. All over Equestria, I am the one who see it all and learn everything I can. The world is beautiful and everypony is also beautiful. The Cult of the Eclipse has made things really difficult and I just hope I don't get on their bad side. Just be yourself, how hard is that?
Constantly thinking to himself, thoughts always wandered his mind, a caterpillar on a leaf, familiarizing itself with its surroundings. Nebula was in new in town. He trotted passed the other citizens of Hoofington, as they were minding their business, not ogling at him. Usually ponies would stare at his unusual features, as he was a hodgepodge of what looked to be different colors of ponies altogether.
"This is a welcome change," Nebula said under his breath. He had been walking for four days now. The last of his rations gone and he only had a pouch of bits around his neck to replenish his supplies, but even that he was running low on. He gave a long-winded sigh and as he trotted along the street he noticed a cafe with a sign depicting soup at an inexpensive cost. Suddenly he noticed his stomach had growled.
"Hmm, well, I am a bit hungry, and soup sounds wonderful. I am getting a bit cold." Who could blame him? Nebula was wearing nothing. No scarf, no saddle, no coat. He was used to the climate of Equestria changes thanks to his travels. I could probably get a temporary job too.
Nebula went into the shop and closed the door quickly, making sure no hot air would get out. He saw two ponies talking to one another and decided to approach them.
"Excuse me ladies, who can I talk to so that I could fill out a job application here?" he asked in a warm, friendly manner.

Heart smiled politely responding to Apple Cider a bit shyly "Well hon, I must be honest. No pony in particular but im rather new to town and some friends would be nice" she blushed deeply not noticing the ever so slight cold draft from the door opening.
"If you could umm... introduce me to anypony it would be....." she trailed off unsurely mumbling "...nice" just loud enough to be heard.
Heart jumped a little from the sudden voice coming from behind her and spun round just a little startled and tried to gain her normal friendly Café owner ways.
"Hi! Welcome to the welcome heart Café, can I get you..." she stopped mid sentence realising what the pony had said and blushed again... this was starting to become a regular occurrence in this town.
"Oh sorry, listen to me go on. Well im just setting up so ummm... im not sure how much I can pay anypony but perhaps some help would be good" she thought for a moment and broke in to a wide smile. "But first! How about some lovely soup?"

"Well Heart, ah might not be in Hoofington fer long, but ah can be yer friend, an I'm sure you'll find some others here." Then the door opened and a unicorn approached asking about a job. "Howdy! If yer lookin fer a job here, I'd talk to this pony over here," Apple Cider said pointing to Heart Warmer. "I just came in from the cold an ta have a bowl of soup. By the way, mah name's Apple Cider, what's yer name?"

Nebula noticed that the one of the ponies had Southern accent. How intriguing, something you don't hear every day. I guess I have so much more to learn, ah well. He smiled at both of the mares and looked responded to Heart Warmer first:
"Well, I am open helping anypony who needs it. I am usually a traveler, but if I'm in no hurry. Thinking it back over, I have enough money for a bit longer. Ah yes, I'd love some soup. 2 bits, was it? That's fine with me. Its also nice to meet you...Heart. Your name...its quaint. I am Nebula. I, too, am new in town." His kept his upbeat tone and rolled with it to the next pony:
"Howdy, indeed. It's very nice to meet your acquaintance Miss Apple Cider. I hope to get to know other friendly faces such as yourself. You're quite the cheerful one, I like that in a pony." Nebula smiled and glanced to the window outside.
Still so much to learn, I've got a long way to go. He turned back to face Apple Cider and spoke with a swift quip:
"Do you mind if I sit with you Miss Cider?"

When she decided to move from Cloudsdale to Hoofington in the dead of Winter, Sugar Breeze hadn't expected so much snow. Perhaps it was because she was so used to how controlled and manufactured the weather was there... Hmm... Ah well, she'd just have to invest in some warm cloth- THUD.
"Oof!" In her distracted thoughts, Sugar Breeze seemed to have trotted right into the side of a building she could have sworn wasn't there a minute ago. Out of curiosity, she trotted around to the front of the building and stared at the sign on the door. Soup? It sounds so good!, she thought, opening the door and peering in. Only three ponies inside... She could handle three ponies... even if she were new and didn't know her.
"S-sorry about the noise. I kind of walked into the soup. I'd like some building." It took a second for her to realize her jumbled words, but as soon as she did, she dropped her head down, ears folding back apologetically. "I-I mean... walked into the building... and I'd like... soup. Please."
So much for making good first impressions around here!
