There was still time to turn back. Angel Grace knew she had to be insane to try what she was trying. But she simply had to. The ruins that the Pegasus had termed "Moon Castle" was where, according to her sources, Nightmare Moon had fallen, and Luna had been reawakened. She knew that such an important spot in Lunar History would soon be overrun with Lunar Ponies. She chuckled a bit to herself, thinking about all the words she was making up for her plan. She highly doubted anypony was interested in going back to that castle, which is why she had to go. Still, just to give everypony a chance, she had posted a bulletin every night for the past week, pulling it down again before the sun rose. She didn't want to attract treasure hunters, just ponies interested in the history of Princess Luna.
The hardest part had been to determine the time of the trip. For maximum authenticity, she would have preferred a night trip, under the moon. Angel knew that would be suicide, though; she had heard too many stories of ponies being hurt even in the best of conditions. She was going to go during the day, and pack lots of supplies. She couldn't be prepared for every eventuality, but she could bring along some basic first aid supplies, as well as various tools for navigating the forest and the best map her bits could buy. She finally tucked a bag of chocolate covered raisins into her saddlebags; she had grown quite fond of Sweet Surprises treats.
Everything prepared, she set out for the forest. She had included a time to meet her on the path a little ways into the forest on her bulletin. If somepony decided to join her, all the better. Either way, she was going to those castle ruins.

The day was hot, the clouds occasionally obscured the sun for a while giving a momentary escape from the heat. But upon entering the Everfree forest that problem has gone. Dense massive trees gave almost complete protection against the sun. But the pleasant coolness was little comforting, due to the forest itself which circulates too many uninteresting gossip and stories. You never know whether the next encountered roadside bushes have a some kind of creature in it. Uneven path gave its toll. As long as it was day, you not need to worry about any problems. Unfortunately, problems do not like to sit quietly. You heard a few crackles from the left side of the path. You stopped nervously, turning your eyes toward the noise. Group of bushes located a few yards away began to shake. The situation was not pleasant. But then a stone fell from your heart, you heard voice that doesn't fit to a monster, or?
- ...upid branch... - said the voice - you got what you wanted Bright. First you got lost, then some creatures were chasing you through almost the whole night, you want to guide others but you cant guide yourself... the irony...
Having finished this sentence an individual's face came out of the bushes. Leaves and branches was sticking out of his mane. He saw you immediatily. His eyes widened and his mouth maked a wide smile. He immediately jumped out of the bushes and ran up to you.
- Oh finally, how good to see someone else, you see, I was lost, but thanks to you I am no longer ... hehe... you going to the city? Tfuu ... where are my manners, my name is Bright Soul, and you? - he asked, while shaking of the leafs and branches out of his mane.

Angel looked quite perturbed by the arrival of this new pony. What kind of pony lived in the bushes of Everfree forest? She knew that a zebra lived here, but as far as Angel knew, the zebra lived in a hut, mixing up evil brews or something. She wasn't really sure, having never really made it into the forest before. She tilted her head curiously as the pony spoke.
"Ponyville?" she asked, nodding her head back the way she came. "Just that way. You're almost out." she assured the bush-pony. Perhaps he didn't live here after all, but was merely lost. "Oh, um...my name is Angel Grace. And no, I'm going deeper into the forest. I'm...exploring." she explained to Bright Soul. Not really a lie, she was exploring. She was just exploring in one direction. Despite the danger of the forest, she hoped he didn't decide to try and...guide her like he had been muttering. He made her kind of nervous...

- Oh That's good, finally i. .. moment, you say that you are going deeper into the forest? - Smile vanished from his face - i dont know if That is good idea ... - He looked at your saddlebags - Eee ... you serious?
He left his sight. On the one hand, he was happy that finally he managed to find a path leading to civilization. On the other hand he could not leave the forest yet. Not until he regain his property. Again he looked at you. "It looks like she is not joking, and on top of that, she knows whats she's doing" - Bright though - "Maybe she can help me?"
- I am happy that finally my problem of being lost is over. Unfortunately, another problem will not allow me to leave this forest. You see, last night, wandering aimlessly through the woods, something began to chase me, then surely my saddlebag detached. I managed to lose the "creature", but my sadlebag too. This is my problem, it is important for me to retrieve it. I have no idea where it may now be, the last that I remember is I saw something in the distance. It was huge but it was not a tree, rather, an enormous rock, it was hard to say, that night there was a dense fog. You said that you are going into the forest, "to explore" and unlike me, you know this forest better for sure. So my question is: Can I accompany you? It is known that it is better to travel in pairs than alone. Especially perhaps in this forest. - Bright shivered - I promise that I will not create any problems. Please? I do not want to go searching for it alone. - His eyes widened

Angel looked a bit nervous as the pony seemed to examine her. What was he doing out here, and what did he want from her now. She shrank back a little bit as he peered in her saddlebags. She was getting increasingly nervous around this pony, but if he needed her help, she'd have to do her best.
"I don't live too far from the edge of the forest, so I know the outskirts. Once we get a little deeper, I won't be much of a guide." she confessed softly, looking at the trees. Every moment spent here was a precious moment of daylight. She finally nodded to him. "I suppose we'll have better luck if we're together, won't we?" she offered, turning to head down the path again. She was doing pretty good concealing her nervousness around him...or so she thought. Her legs were kinda wobbly as she started trotting again, her eyes scanning for any sign of those saddlebags. She wasn't going to be deterred today, though. She'd find the castle, and perhaps learn something about what occurred there.
Despite her supposed inner confidence, as they approached a small river, she began to worry. The saddlebag surely was more important than her quest, was it not? She could come back any day, but what if there was medicine in that bag? Or something else important to somepony? "D-do you, ah...remember the path you took?" she asked.

- Well... i don't remember any path, that's for sure... but i got an idea. - he came closer to the river. "What's is this strange feeling i am getting. As if something was wrong here. But what?" - I remember crossing the river - he looked into it - but certainly not here, its to deep. Hmmm... when i met you, i came to the path you were walking from the left side... so if we go left from here we should find a shallow place to cross the river. I know this beacuse i accidentally ran into the river that night. Certainly, when i was breaking through the forest I left behind so many traces that even a blind pony could follow me. - "No... its not about this place... this place seems just fine.". He turned to you. His face assumed a serious expression as if he wanted to pierce you with His gaze. "I'm exploring huh? Something's wrong in this. She's not lying... but it's like this sentence has another end. Let's see if can find out why i'm getting this strange feeling." - His expression changed immediately to a smile. - Ekhem... shall we try this idea of mine? I assure you that I am like a furious bull in a porcelain shop when it comes to leaving behind traces.
He approached and stood beside you. In contrast to his piercing glare earlier, now he had a very friendly expression on his face.
- OH... now i get it! You see, when you said that you are exploring, it did not make to much sense for me, i mean, why explore this spooky forest, i dont think there is anything interesting in here. But now i get it. You are a cartographer, right? You are exploring to do a map of this forest? Right??? Or are you a trouble seeking adventurer like me? - He laughed out loud.

Angel Grace examined the river mildly as she listed to him, turning her head to the left. On the one hand, as best as she could guess, the castle was straight ahead. If she deviated from that path, she wouldn't make it to the castle in time. But she had already decided; she couldn't leave this other pony hanging. Even if it meant that she wouldn't find the castle today, it was the right thing to do.
She jumped a little bit; while she had been lost in thought, he had come up right next to her and asked her something. Shaking herself a bit, she replied; "What? Oh, oh no...I'm...looking for something, too." she confessed. She didn't want to say what she was looking for, in case he thought that she was strange. After all, what kind of pony loved the night as much as she did? "But your bags are more important." she finished, turning and following the river left. "We have to hurry...don't want to be here after dark..." she trailed off nervously.

- That's true, spending another night here is not what i really want - he responded to you while walking along the river. "Looking for something huh? That sounds way better from what you said earlier... but..." - he stopped walking - "Oh no... i think i did something wrong here. Don't make any problems? I became one of them! I need to fix things up" - W... Wait! - he ran in front of you - About my bag, its hard to say if its more important than your task. I didn't noticed earlier but You look.... a little nervous. I promised that I will nor create any problems, but I feel that i became one of them. Time is chasing us, and you to dont want to be here when the night comes, right? I think it is you who needs some help, not me. We cant say for sure... is my bag is still in one piece? Even if it is, i just wanted to retrieve a certain picture from it. Well, its... - he left his head - ...kinda important to me... - but then he raised it - but i can live without it, i just cant stand the feeling that my request will not let you finish your own mission. We can search for my bag another day. Now... it is I who want to help you... umm... t-that is... i- if... if you let me... .
"Now you done it Bright, the word "strange" has been assigned to you..."
He awaited her answer while standing nervously. He hoped that his strange behavior will not scare her or anything. That's the last thing he wanted. Be an obstacle for someone else's path ... he wants to help others get through their obstacles, not became a one!
