"Mmm hmm," Klepto said, too busy looking at the moon to notice Sea flexing. "I understand what you're saying. I guess that's one of the benefits I have from not having a permanent residence. Don't have to worry about that sort of thing. Travelling from place to place and within towns and what not keeps me from being holed up in one spot. With you I guess it's a little bit harder since you actually stay in one place all the time."

After noticing that Klepto wasn't looking, Sea stopped her showing off. "I guess so," Sea said with a mild shrug. "I didn't used to feel this way though. I grew up in Filly. It was a lot less crowded there. A lot quieter too. Well, unless me and my friends felt like stirring things up." Sea fondly recalled the numerous times she and her friends would cause trouble for the adults when they were younger - spray painting graffiti on public walls, breaking into classrooms, even committing a few petty thefts. There was a part of her that missed that carefree recklessness.
"I only moved here a few weeks ago. All the crowds and the noise and the lights are taking some getting used to. Been so busy getting used to all this, I haven't had as much time as I'd like to really get back into stretching, exercising, or just letting loose and having some stupid fun," Sea continued. "But, like you said, you don't have to worry about that, huh?" The pegasus pony grinned. "If you travel as much as you say you do, not being cooped up in one place, I bet you can have some reckless, fun adventures."

"You don't know the half of it," Klepto said, unable to keep from smiling. "Oh if only you did. I've probably made your acts of teen angst look like charity work." Klepto crossed his legs, now looking over at Sea. "But it's probably for the better that you've given up your life of hanging around behind school buildings or setting off bottle rockets or whatever it is you kids do. Yep, probably better to give it up to focus on your music career, especially for stuff so amateur."

"'Kid'? Haha, Klepto, ya can't be that much older than me," Sea said, looking at the earth pony with a smirk, snickering a bit at his patronizing words.
"And please, shooting bottle rockets? You don't give me enough credit. Once, we broke into the school's art closet, stole some spray paint, and then we graffiti'd parts of the body (I'll give you two guesses what parts) all over the water tower. Bet that did wonders for Filly's tourism board. The school and police didn't think it was very funny, but those old morons needed to learn how to lighten up," Sea joked. She looked at the earth pony with a confident grin. "'Amateur' enough for you? Or do ya think ya can top that?"

"Vandalism?" Klepto asked, trying to sound as unimpressed as possible. "Excuse me while a stifle a yawn." Klepto actually did find himself yawning shortly afterwards, though from new-found fatigue rather than false boredom. "Plus, your little acts of vandalism have no grace, let alone any motivation other than some childish sense of rebellion. You didn't break into that art closet because it was your passion, because it was what you were meant to do. Because it was part of who you were. You did it because you were mad at the world, because you had a chip on your shoulder or something."
Klepto closed his eyes, smiling as he laid his head on the hard roof. "I'm not even sure it deserves to be called 'amateur'."

"Pfeh," scoffed Sea dismissively. "Call it childish rebellion if ya want, but I did it because it was plain ol' fun. Sure, I was angry a lot back then, but those old farts running the place were always a lot angrier than I was, especially while I was still in school," said the pegasus pony, snickering slightly to herself.
She noticed the earth pony had closed his eyes. Now that she thought about it, she was getting a bit tired as well. So much for brainstorming new lyrics. Still, it was a lot better than spending the night talking to herself, or her neighbors. Then she thought of something. "Hey Klepto, how long ya staying in Manehattan anyway?"

"Not sure," Klepto said, keeping his eyes closed. "It depends I guess, but I'll leave when I feel I should." He yawned again, opening his eyes and looking up at the moon. "Why do you ask?"

"Well, however long you're staying, you can crash at my place if ya want," said Sea. "Better than sleeping out here on the roof, right?" She knocked a hoof on the hard surface of the building to emphasize her point.

Klepto looked over at Sea Swell, thinking carefully for a several seconds. "I'll stay at your place tonight," he said pensively, "But I'm not too sure it's a good idea if I stay with you for too long." Klepto knew that sticking in one spot made it easier for him to be found if someone ever came looking for him. Plus, Sea Swell would be likely to eventually find out what he did, and he wasn't entirely sure if that was a good idea. At least for the time being. "Maybe I could come back after a few days," he said, sitting up and brushing the dirt off of his jacket. "I don't know. We'll see."

"Sure," Sea said, shrugging. "Whatever fits into your schedule of eating canned beans 'til hopping on the next train outta town." Smirking, the pegasus trotted over to the door leading back into the flat. She didn't know why Klepto would pass up an offer to sleep under a roof for longer than a single night, but that was his business, and she was too tired to let her curiosity get to her. And, if he ever wanted her to know, she was sure he'd tell her. Eventually.
She opened the door and motioned Klepto to follow. "Just one thing," Sea said in a softer tone. "Try not to make too much noise while we're inside. The walls are paper-thin, and the neighbors get grumpy."

"I'm good at being quiet," Klepto said, following Sea Swell to the door. "When I choose to be." He paused to look back at the full moon one last time, giving it one last, peaceful look before following the pegasus inside."I'll probably be gone in the morning, before you wake up. Just thought I'd let you know." Klepto thought for a moment about Sea's generosity, or naivety. Whatever it was, she had let a complete stranger spend the night under her roof, rather than on it. Maybe if all the ponies in Manehattan were this nice, he could get used to staying here for a while.
He thought about the idea to for a moment before chuckling to himself. Then again, that wasn't really why he came here.
