Construction noise rattled throughout Manehatten, it seemed, and jarred what little peace existed in the bustling city. A gray unicorn mare sat in a cluttered, makeshift office, trying not to doze off as yet another group of ponies entered with their arguments in tow, ushered by a forepony too exasperated to deal with the dispute himself. Whisper felt certain ponies were just handing her whoever sniffed at others in a contrary way. Her horn had been glowing nonstop today, permeating the room with a calm peace that encouraged contrary ponies to settle down enough to settle their differences. Most today had simply walked into the room, calmed down, realized how ridiculous their fight had been, and left. Others stood in the room, stubbornly fighting the calming vapor before finally giving in and semi-admitting fault. Still others had come in that Whisper couldn't affect. They were simply tired and she sent them home to sleep. A few mistook her services and laid out their whole experiences with the Diamond Dog invasion, expecting therapy. With how many versions of the story she'd heard, Whisper felt certain she could write a book with multiple points of view and perhaps even a sequel or two. The pair of ponies in front of her now sat in stone silence on her shredded overstuffed couch. Her magic was starting to fail as she grew more exhausted... and more frustrated... with each passing moment. "If you're finished, I'd like to go home now." The ponies blinked at her as if they'd forgotten she was there. With a pop, Whisper's magic cut off and the silver calming mist evaporated into the fading sunlight. With a sigh, Whisper collected her things, checked the bow in her mane, and headed out the door without a further word. The ponies knew her magic had run out. They'd probably follow her lead after a moment or two. Whisper made her way out of the building and into the street, stopping to look at a few of the rebuilding crews at work. She wished somepony would help her with her home. She was a little tired of sleeping on a mattress that had been ripped open. Adding the fact that those idiot mongrels had taken her sheets and blankets made Whisper feel downright irritable. That's what she got for having some of the softest bedding in Manehatten, though. Taking a deep breath, Whisper trudged toward home. It was getting dark and she didn't want to be out and about at night.

"Okay, okay. Calm down Coal Dust, you've done more difficult things than this."
Coal Dust was trying (partially in vain) to keep his irritation to a reasonable level. It would do him no good to lose his temper. He was tipped off by one of his informants that somepony in manehatten had collected first hand accounts of the Diamond dog raids, and there was a lot of potential use for info like that, namely among guards and ponies wishing to defend themselves from another raid. May even pay well, too. But finding a single mare in such a large city was difficult... especially considering the fact that it's been years since he was last in this city, and he was currently lost. In an attempt to take his mind off the situation, he went over the list of things he brought in his head. 'Okay, matches, iron oxide, water, phosphorus, Poison joke extract, black powder, Dragonbreath... I didn't forget the coffee, did I?'
He checks the leftmost pocket of his ever-present jacket... 'Forgot the coffee. Again. Forget it, maybe I can ask somepony for directions.'
He spots a somewhat smaller mare on the streets with a gray coat and brown and mint mane. Maybe she knew where this mare was. Or at least, where the nearest functioning hotel was. "Excuse me, miss?" he starts, his polite mannerisms returning to him. "I'm terribly sorry to inconvenience you, but I'm looking for somepony. Do you know a mare by the name of Whisper? I've been meaning to ask her something, and it appears I've gotten myself lost in the process." he explains, thanking his dark coat so she couldn't see his embarrassment.

Whisper stared at the stallion in front of her, taking a moment to process what he'd said. She knew she moved and spoke slowly on the best of days. Having not slept for 24 hours made it even worse. Taking a deep breath and releasing it, Whisper took on a patient smile. "I'm Whisper, but I'm afraid you've come too late if you're looking for a peace session. My magic ran out not fifteen minutes ago helping another couple of ponies. Perhaps if you met me at my office tomorrow morning? Just ask for Whisper's Peaceful Moments at the hotel lobby, their staff are frequent clients of mine." The stallion was tall and Whisper found herself straightening up standing next to him. She was slightly taller than the average mare and tended to slouch so others felt more comfortable around her. Whisper shook her name to wake herself a little more. "Sorry, welcome to Manehatten, um... What was your name again?" Curse this sleep fog! Her memory was shot, too!

"Ah, forgive me. Where are my manners?" He smiles pleasantly. "My name is Coal Dust. I've just arrived here from Canterlot. Truth be told, I wasn't going to ask about your Peaceful Moment, though I'll keep that in mind." 'Especially if this little trip goes flank up.' he adds mentally. Then his features alight with an idea, his sharp golden eyes visible through his messy black mane. "Actually, would you mind if I joined you tomorrow during this Peaceful Moment?"

Tired as she was, Whisper giggled. "It isn't A peaceful moment, it's the name of my business. Yes, you can reserve a time slot there. It will certainly be a nice break from all of the walk-ins I get. Meet me around noon at my office, second floor of the brick building next to the school for foals..." Whisper frowned. "You do have a place to stay, right? The hotel might be full of refugees after that battle..." She didn't know how else the stallion would be comfortable, unless... "Of course, I have a comfortable couch at my office if you need it." She stifled a yawn. "It has a small kitchen for my lunch break as well. It would do for a makeshift hotel room." She gave a soft blue colored business card to the stallion and bid farewell. She needed sleep... Soon.
The sun from her windows shone bright in her apartment the next morning as Whisper bustled about her kitchen putting together a quick breakfast. Today was usually her day off, but the stallion she'd met the evening before seemed to want to talk about something other than some sort of argument or disagreement he'd had with an ssociate and that intrigued her. Brushing her mane and tieing in her bow while still munching on a scone, Whisper tested her magic, her horn glowing powder blue. Good, a good night's rest had done the trick. With a flick of her very long tail and turning about to close and lock the door behind her, Whisper began the familiar walk to her office, humming an old song to herself.
