But something moved behind Sandro's eyes... maybe it was those bird eyes, but it looked almost as if he was scanning her when she answered that. His pupils dilated and then shrunk, his head tilted slightly as he examined her for a moment. "Good." He said after a moment, without explaining what was going on.
"Now then, where would you like to go next? I'll take you anywhere so long as there are no settlements there. Don't want to attract any unwanted attention."

The dragon pondered this and frowned, "So a place with no settlements...Hmm...You know the area better than I do." She chuckled, "Why don't you surprise me?" She was a bit disturbed by his strange reaction to her question, and she knew she was going to have to keep a close eye on him for any other suspicious activity. She didn't wish to be on edge, but now knowing what she did about him not being with the true griffon kingdom, she wanted to be sure she could trust him.

The griffon swiftly dived into the clouds, signalling Sylvia to follow. "We have been trying for many years to convince the Griffon Kingdom of the undead's true motivation. We have seen them stalking the battlefields and cemeteries at night, we have seen the smashed coffins and broken mausoleums, the empty catacombs. The government would have us believe it is simple acts of grave robbing, monsters feeding, scavengers... no, we no all too well why deserted battlefields and cemeteries are being violated. You will too once you meet a loved one staring at you with hollow, hateful eyes!"
"They will try to convince you, both the Griffons and the Dragon Council, they will try to persuade you that we are insane, criminals, bent on obtaining power for our own ends. Yes, we are bent on obtaining power, both political and military, not for some crazy uprising, not for violence..." Sandro explained loudly, "Violence among the living only creates more soldiers for The Dead March, which is why dragons with their all incinerating fire breath are so important to our cause. Leave nothing behind to be raised, nothing that can come back and try to kill us." The old griffon moved with surprising agility for his age, bobbing in and out of the clouds, each time revealing a new view for the amazed Sylvia, until he abruptly stopped, hovering slightly below the clouds, where the ground was almost invisible.
"Your mental fortitude is just as important as anything else for us, Sylvia, this is why we have been testing it so much before. Allowing yourself to be persuaded that the undead are harmless and mind their own business will be detrimental to both you and us. You are one glimmer of greater hope, with a dragon on our side our odds grew so much more! I put my full trust in you, told you everything truthfully and straightforwardly. I have no motives other than what I've already stated, I, like the others in the Tempest Triad left my life and my own desires far behind when I joined. I'm not asking you to do the same, only to assist those of us who has so that no one else is forced to do so. With backing by the Council, Equestria and the Griffon Kingdom will be forced to give us a voice. So what do you say Sylvia? Will you stand with us despite all I've told you? Will you help us aspire for a world not threatened by The Dead March?"

Sylvia took in his words. They really were relying on her to get the aid of the dragons...but how was she to convince them? The thought of it made her nervous. The only dragon she spoke to was her father, and he was intimidating enough as it was...would she be able to speak up to the council, and convince them that there was a threat?
"I will gladly help stop this Dead March you speak of...I don't know if I'll really be of much help, I'm not the most convincing of dragons, but I will certainly give it a try." She said nervously. The thought of a horde of undead creatures made her extremely nervous. It was better to be safe than sorry she felt, and if these creatures were lying to her, well, it really wouldn't affect her all that much. But if they were speaking the truth, and the dead did rise up against the living, than the whole world would be doomed.
She would take humiliation over being killed and raised from the dead any day.
"Count me in." She finished.

Sandro smiled with relief, "Good! Then I daresay you have much to study before we present you. Ready to head back yet, or do you want to keep flying around a bit more? Time may be short, but not too short." The griffon said, hanging upside down on a cloud to rest his wings.
Judging by the sun's position, it was already late noon by now, they have been flying for quite a while, not long enough to tire Sylvia, but maybe a little to tire the old griffon. If it did, he made quite the effort to hide it from her, wanting to let her have the freedom to decide for herself what to do next without considering him. It was still quite warm, but getting slightly chilly out.

She looked up at the open sky one last time before looking at him, "I think I'm ready to head back. There's a lot to take in...and I guess I should really prepare myself mentally for what I have to do." She looked nervous. She felt she was still young yet, and having such a big responsibility was something she wasn't used to. "I'll definitely need to learn a lot...I'm afraid of messing up." She stated quietly as she stood up on the cloud, her claws pulling up from the fluffy air.
"But I'm sure with your guidance, I'll be able to handle this. I'll try my best to help you out." She said, "For the good of us, and the entire world."

"Good, it's important that you trust my knowledge." He said with a nod, "It's hard to teach someone if they think they know more than you do. Not that I'm saying you don't, I'm sure we both have much to teach each other. But a healthy respect for one's knowledge is a good start for a student teacher relationship." The griffon said, "After all we share a purpose here, a lasting treaty with the dragons will allow us, beyond their physical aid, access to their vast amount of knowledge of the world." The griffon stated excitedly.
"Now then, if we're already here there's something already I'd like to teach you. I'd like to tell you a little bit of history." He said, "In the past there was a hive of Changelings in the Griffon Kingdom. Changelings are beings that can change their shape at will to anything they can imagine. In Equestria they rely on cunning and subterfuge, but over here in the Griffon Kingdom they relied on strength in number and conducted raids on small towns, quarries, mines, villages, they eventually became so large they threatened the entire Kingdom. So they were wiped out to the last one by the Griffon Kingdom, bombarded from the sky by the Griffon Armada until none remained. I was there, on one of the battleships. I saw the tides of changelings rising up against us. I knew it had to be done yet when it happened it was horrible to behold the extinction of an entire race of Changelings... You may feel it's shocking now, but that is exactly what we are facing at the claws of the undead, complete annihilation of all life until the last of us is no longer breathing. Remember this, the worst thing my people has ever done pale in comparison to the Necropolis' plans."

She could feel the weight of the words as he spoke. The dragon bit her brilliantine lip, looking a bit silly in the process. She didn't wish to imagine a horde of undead creatures rising from their graves, killing and raising everything they touched.
She recalled how they tested her to make sure she wasn't a changeling, and wondered, if they destroyed a whole race of them, how many others were out there? She had never seen a changeling herself, and was glad that that was the case. The thought of another stealing her identity, pretending to be her with cruel intentions, it made her shudder as well.
When did the world become so cruel, she wondered? All she knew of was the safety in her cave, and the occasional battle with any large prey that came stalking her father's mountain. Now, she found out there was much more to the world than living under a literal rock all her life.
"Your history sounds like war may have been prominent, is that true?" She asked him after he finished speaking about the past event.

"There was a time when war was all Griffons knew, back then we were all scattered in clans which fought each other, some even fought for the Equiterian Empire, but since we became a kingdom we've only had two great wars. The Dragon Wars, which I am sure you are intimately familiar with, being a dragon and the Prism Wars. The two of which nearly drove your species to extinction. Other than those there wasn't a real war in the last millennium."
"I would like to hear however, if we are already on the subject, your opinion of the Dragon Wars. The Dragon point of view."

Sylvia closed her eyes. She had heard about the Dragon Wars, her father mentioned them quite a few times, mainly when she asked why there weren't many other dragons in the area. It was the reason that their kind had dwindled over the years. Every time her father mentioned the Wars, he would gain an angry look in his eye, almost as if he were thinking of what if...what if they never started?
Snapping out of her thoughts, Sylvia spoke up once more, "Well, it's sad to think that a mere accident could've started a war as catastrophic as that." She murmured softly, releasing a sigh, "I mean, I could understand how both sides felt threatened, but to start a war over it? It seems preposterous. But then again, how would the world be if us dragons haven't been taken down a peg? Perhaps we would be better off, but other races not so much? What happened happened, and, well, as long as I'm still alive today, I can't really complain of the past." She said, gazing into his eyes as she did so.

"I'll be honest, despite the history books claiming it was an accident, I wouldn't have put it past King Whitefeather the 1st to try and collapse the mountain tunnels on the dragons to try and get rid of them for the rich iron veins." Sandro said, "He died in that war, along with is first born, Severus Whitefeather - the greatest Griffon Warrior that ever lived. Took down three adult dragons at once before he fell and apparently he's still alive today, word has it he was the one who had orchestrated the recent change in rule. Though I myself have yet to look deep into the matter. It would be a refreshing change to speak to someone who's been around for over a thousand years."

"A thousand years, that's a long time." The dragon commented, pondering these historical figures for the Griffons. She almost wondered what her ancestors were like during the great war, wondering if perhaps one of them was a great warrior as well. The thought of it made her heart race. "Well, hopefully we can learn from our mistakes of the past, and look towards a brighter future." She stated as she gazed at him, "Perhaps with dragons and griffons working together now, we can stop any evil threat that wants to take over this world." She smiled a toothy smile, working together seemed like a good plan.
