Boy, did it feel good to stretch her wings after being cooped up for so long. Her vision was hampered by the blindfold that she had around her eyes, but it didn't stop her from using her other senses to feel her way around the wide blue sky.
Sylvia enjoyed the feeling of the wind against her scales as she soared through the sky, her powerful wings beating at the air around her. She twisted and dove through the air, performing flips and tricks that would put larger dragons to shame. She wasn't the quickest flier, but she preferred elaborate tricks to quick maneuvers. She almost looked as if she were dancing, the sun glancing off of her red scales. When it looked as though she woudl bump into one of her griffon guides, she would veer off, her senses fine tuned to flying without her sense of sight. It felt fantastic, and she loved being able to be in her element once more. Though she didn't mind being within the buildings of the griffons, she preferred the open air over anything else.

"Alright now," Sandro said, signalling the two griffons guiding Sylvia to remove her blindfold and break off. "Do you know where we are now Sylvia?" He asked, slowing down to land on a nearby cloud.
"We're in the Wild Blue, above the clouds over the Griffon Kingdom. Usually these skies are full of air ships and transports... But now it seems we've hit a time where it's relatively free. Beneath us are the Red Plains, a great battle was fought here in the Dragon Wars, it is said that the blood spilled here made the ground red. However, in truth, it's the rich iron deposits from Ironside Mountain that give the soil its red color." Sandro looked at Sylvia for her reaction before continuing.
"Many of your kind and hours died here fighting each other, I find it terrific that you and I can just fly here and talk, as friends do. This once seemed to be an impossibility and here we are, doing it. How does that make you feel?"

Sylvia was glad to be able to see again. as she looked down and rested on the cloud as well, her claws sinking into the fluffy accumulation of water and air, she gazed down at the red earth below. As he spoke of the Dragon Wars, she could almost see armies of griffons and dragons facing off...to think that their kind warred against one another, it was a strange and sad thought.
But at his last words, she smiled and gave a nod of agreement, "Yes...it's very terrific. It makes me feel great, knowing that I wasn't part of such a cruel time in our history." She gave a sad smile, "I just hope that things will stay good. Perhaps us being here is a sign of good times to come, maybe our races can resolve their differences and get along better than they ever had."

"I spent my whole life studying Dragons and Equiterians... Did you know Dragons made the Equiterian language? The same language that evolved into the common language we speak now. Dragons created many life forms in the world, among those the Diamond Dogs, made in order to find gems for dragon hoards. It's funny to think how the Diamond Dogs are now an entire people, don't you think so?"
"Dragons live for so long, learn, see and experience so much in their life times... You will live long after my grand children pass away... Should I envy you for that? I don't know. You are stronger and far more magical than I am. Does that make a reason for me to fear you? Maybe. I think the most important thing the wars of the past teach us, is that there is no one who gains from fear and war... Well... there is ONE who does..." The griffon said mysteriously.

"Diamond dogs, now them I have heard of." She stated. Her father had told her that diamond dogs were responsible for digging up much of the treasure that he had in his horde. To think that the dragons were capable of creating such a race, it was amazing to think of.
As for how long she lived, it was a bit daunting. Perhaps that is why her father seemed so distant from her. She didn't know much about him, perhaps he had friends back when he was young, and couldn't handle losing them? Or maybe he was just always that way? Unfortunately she would never know, and as Sandro trailed off, Sylvia raised an eyeridge at his statement, "There is...and who is that?" She asked, a bit nervous to find out who that may be.

"The Necrolord. Harvester of corpses." Sandro said darkly, "No one knows who the Necrolord really is. It is known he lives underneath Equestria and that he has an army of the undead. We suspect he is Ouroboros the Eternal, a fearsome dragon. But there has never been a way to truly prove it one way or the other. But there is one thing we do know for sure. He benefits from war, he robs graves, he reanimates corpses to serve him and perhaps one day... to fight for him..."

At his words, a slight shiver ran down Sylvia's entire spine. The thought of a creature, possibly a dragon raising the dead...it sent a slight fear running through her. Though she never really had to deal with many dangerous situations, she had instincts that had kept her alive thus far, but to think of battling with a horde of raised corpses...it was quite a horrifying thought.
"Has...has he ever attacked anyone before?" She asked nervously, "This is the first time I've heard of such a being...the thought of it frightens me."

"You must have heard of him, dragons fear him the most. Depends on when they get to you, they might trap your soul in your undead body forever." Sandro said solemnly, "Has he been known to attack? Yes. Just recently it was reported that the undead devastated a hive of Changelings in Equestria. Not many years before that one of your own Dragon Councillors has been found to have been cooperating with the Necrolord in exchange for undeath, it seems even his long years were not enough. Fortunately he was struck down by the Equestrian Field Marshal." The wise griffon said, "They have made an army of the undead. It is called The Dead March. Each undead, regardless of intelligence is filled with a hatred towards all living things... an urge to snuff the life out of all it sees and bring it back as an undead like itself. They have no fear and no mercy."
Sandro stopped to let this information sink with Sylvia, before turning back to her, "Sylvia, it is our sworn duty to fight the undead and prepare for the day they come to attack us. Everyone else in the world seems content on leaving them be in the hopes they'll never launch an invasion against us. But with each passing day more living things perish as the cycle of life wills and they gain more and more soldiers for their undead army. I'm sure a dragon like you and you have proven to be very intelligent, can understand this as well as I do. Anything that is filled with hatred towards all life will not sit still for eternity as life evolves around it. We need to be prepared when the attack comes... or better... be able to eliminate the threat altogether."

As he spoke about this threat, she realized that he was really asking for her help. At the thought of having her soul trapped for all eternity within an undead body...she couldn't help but have a feeling of deep fear rising within her.
"So...so you think we can put a stop to this...this Necrolord?" She asked. The word itself gave her the creeps, but she tried her best not to show her fear. She hoped she would never have to serve the likes of him..."Well, I only know so much about fighting, but if you need my assistance to stop this threat, then I swear I will do my best to protect the world that I've grown fond of." she gazed down at the red earth below. It was one of so many placed she wished to discover and see for herself. The thought of losing it all filled her with fear...as well as anger. "If this creature is as deadly as he sounds, then if we don't stop him, everything I wish to learn about will be destroyed...I can't have that happen."

Sandro's face brightened, "I knew I could count on you. But you don't have to worry about fighting yet. What I had in mind is far more diplomatic. Royal Rocks, the Griffon Capitol, has been trying to make a channel to the Dragon Council for a long time. We recently had a change in rule. No longer is the Griffon Kingdom under the sole leadership of a Whitefeather, the line of kings the dragons bear a grudge against is now just a formal mention in the history books rather than a name to bow to. So now would be the opportune time to initiate diplomacy and as fate would have it, you flew in right then. With your help, I believe we could bring the dragons to our side, convince them of the threat the Necrolord poses and there is so much we could learn from each other. The tear we will atone for together may be thousands of years old, but if we put our minds to it, I know we can make a bridge between the dragons and griffons." He gave Sylvia a warm, genuine smile of appreciation.
"So what do you say? Will you help us?" He asked.

"A bridge between Dragons and Griffons..." She pondered this. Would her kind be so inviting after a war had broken out ages ago between the two races? She looked at Sandro and pondered for a moment. She hadn't met many of her kind...so convincing them to make a pact with the griffons would be tricky, but then again, if she could learn so much, perhaps the others would be willing to learn as well.
"Of course, I will do anything I can to help out." She said, "If the dragons and griffons work together, well, there's not a whole lot we wouldn't be able to do!" She exclaimed with a happy grin.

Sandro smiled and said nothing for a while. "Thank you Sylvia. However there is one thing I must reveal to you. Though we never pretended to be, I must make it clear we do not belong to the Griffon Government. We are an organization which has been outlawed. Forced to go to extreme methods of obtaining resources and information in order to be able to prepare for the undead invasion. We are considered a criminal organization by the Government, though they know not who we are. But it is our duty to suffer the slings and arrows against our moral compass because in the end what matters is the greater good and not our standing in society. We may walk freely among others, but should we be discovered for who we are and what organization we serve, we will be branded outlaws."
"We will do a great many deal of incredible things, you and I. I can't wait."

She was a bit taken aback by his statement. She assumed that they were part of the main griffon government. She wasn't sure what to think on this matter...but as she thought of it, she realized it didn't really matter. They were very hospitable to her, and their cause seemed to be a good one, so she allowed this bit of information to go without thinking too much on it.
"I sure hope so...I just hope the other dragons will be more willing to listen. And there's the matter of finding them as well." She stated with a sigh, "I'm not even sure where many of them are."

"All we need is the Dragon Council's approval. They hold the power in the dragon society. If we can get them on our side, besides the amazing benefits for science and advancement of almost every aspect of our lives, we'll also have very powerful allies to fight with against the undead. Don't worry, we will prepare you, we will teach you of us and we will teach you what we know of them. Fortunately for me, I know quite a lot."
The griffon then stood up from the cloud and flew towards Sylvia's cloud, landing in front of her. "Now I want you to be truthful Sylvia, what do you think of me?" He asked strangely.

As he spoke of helping her, she was quite relieved. Alone, she would've been overwhelmed, but with his help...as he spoke his next question, she was a bit taken aback and she looked him in the eye, trying to get a read off of him.
"Well, you seem very wise and knowledgeable about the world. But I've only known you for a day, if that...so it's a bit hard to say." She stated, not quite sure how to respond to such a question.
