Sylvia took in all this information. So their culture seemed clan-based. Almost like miniature kingdoms at first. But then they came together. She could imagine rivalries still existing, and wondered if they had any problems.
Though, as she thought of the clans, she wondered, "So...how is family life in griffon culture? Are families close? Or distant?" Her own family wasn't the greatest, her mother having left when she was very young and her father not caring to raise her on his own. She always wanted a loving family, but never really had one.

"Depends on the family, like everywhere else." Sandro said with a shrug, "I'd love to say griffon families are closer than most, but I can't say that's all true. I happen to know a certain brother and sister who don't get along at all, or a father and daughter who felt disappointed in each other and had a distant relationship. It happens everywhere. I know my family was close enough, though I hardly have anything to compare it to by dragon standards."

"I see, well, from my experience, it doesn't seem adult dragons are very loving. Though, I'm not entirely sure if all dragons are like that or if I was just unlucky." She shrugged and tried thinking of something else to ask.
"So...I wanted to know, what about current events? Are the griffons involved in any wars? Or are things peaceful?"

"I'm afraid I'm more of a historian, I deal with the past, not the present." Sandro said, "Perhaps if you should ask me in a few days, when the present became the past, I shall have more answers for you." He smiled mysteriously, it was obvious that getting any current affairs out of him would be hard. She had to wonder whether or not he even really knew about anything. Did anyone get to leave this place often?

She frowned, realizing she wasn't going to get much information on current events, at least not from him, "Well...I'm not sure what else I could ask you." She yawned widely, "I'm sure I'll learn more myself as time goes on. There's only so much you can learn by being told or by reading. Perhaps I'll be able to explore this place some more eventually and see with my own eyes." She said, giving him a happy smile. "I appreciate your company. Thank you for teaching me about this wonderful culture you have."

"I'm happy to help Sylvia. I won't bother you for your after lunch nap. You'll need it to keep your brain sharp. Later in the day we'll have some simple tests, reaction tests and psychological tests, very basic things just wanting to see a dragon's point of view on things. You know? I'm terribly sorry if we seem so inquisitive of you, it's just that you're fascinating, truly, we want to learn as much as we can as fast as we can so that we can let you loose to learn and experience things for yourself. So I'll come pick you up in a few hours, alright? Try and get some rest dear." Sandro gave her a warm smile as he took his journal and turned to leave.
"Oh and I'll have a gramophone sent up to you with some soothing music, I'm sure you'd love it." He said finally and left.

Sylvia positively beamed at his response. They found her fascinating? Really? The thought of it made her feel warm inside. It was her who was completely enthralled by the griffons themselves. They seemed like an interesting race, and already she could see that each griffon had so many differences. Half-bird, half-cat, she tried imagining how many combinations were out there.
She was excited too to see the Royal Rocks. All of the tests they performed on her were nothing compared to her eagerness to get out and see the griffon kingdom for herself. As she curled up and closed her eyes, she had a hard time sleeping despite her drowsiness from the wonderful meal she ate. Her excitement was too great, but finally, during her daydreams, she stated to doze off.

Sylvia woke up to the pleasant harmonies of a violin and a piano playing simultaneously, apparently the griffons had already installed the gramophone while she was asleep and had begun playing it to wake her up. She found Sandro waiting for her, writing more in his journal. Sandro smiled when he noticed she was up, "Did you have a good rest? I tried to sneak this in without waking you up. What do you think?" The music gave the room a very LIVE feeling, she felt almost as though she was out in the free air again, with the wind whistling through treetops and the soft splashing of waves against the shore.
"The composition was made by a famous griffon artist so long ago yet it remains with us still. A true piece of art for the ages." He said, "Sadly it seems that newer music seems to be more active and encouraging of action, rather than soothing and pleasant such as this. The young generations have lost their patience." He said, "Is it the same with the dragons? I've had the pleasure of meeting a dragon councillor, at least, a former one. He seemed very calm, even in great duress. I could never have guessed what happened to him."

The music was very soothing, and Sylvia longed to stretch her wings and fly around outside. But she knew patience was key, and as Sandro spoke, she politely listened and responded, "A dragon councilor? I didn't realize we had one of those." She chuckled softly, "Well, if he was calm, than maybe that's a good thing for us dragons! Unfortunately I haven't met many myself...my father and I pretty much stuck to our own. I lived a rather...sheltered life." She murmured, a tiny bit of bitterness in her voice.
"But this music is fantastic. It's so soothing and calming, perfect rest for weary bones." She said with a toothy grin. "And I guess as time goes on, younger generations have different interests. I can see how it would affect the style of music or anything in general."

Sandro shook his head, "The young are only interested in the now anymore... they don't think about the ages. That's why they can't create masterpieces like these. Why their steel doesn't last. For a griffon, this is a great downfall." He said calmly, "What about you Sylvia, do you think about the now, or about the future? The self, or the collective? Which is the thing that beckons to you?"
There was something highly inquisitive about that question, of course it was a simple question and a simple choice, but somehow, the way Sandro had said it, the way he was looking at her with anticipation made it seem more like a test than sheer curiosity. It was almost as though his bird eyes could discern the answer from her soul, almost as though he was just waiting for her to say it. Despite that, he remained comfortable and pleasant. His fascination with her must have spread beyond the physical. He didn't just want to study a dragon, he wanted to study a dragon's soul.

Sylvia thought of the question carefully, what did she truly care about? Lately, she was finding that finding out the past of different creatures was a fascinating thought, but she still cared about the present, and as for the future, well, it wasn't set in stone, so she would follow it wherever it led her.
"I seem to care much about the past, but I also care about what's going on in the present. I want to learn more, but I also want to be of some help during whatever's going on in the now." She stated, tapping her chin with her claw. "I'm unsure of what the future holds for me, so I will just wait and see where events take me, but I believe the now is what's truly important."

Sandro smiled, "Good an answer as any." He said, "Are you ready for a bit more testing?" He asked, "I promise it'll be the last for today." At that, they began the intellectual and psychological tests. Which took a log time. Sylvia had to solve problems, pick answers in multiple choice questions and look at ink blots. In the end after what felt like hours of further testing Sandro finally relented.
"That's it for today," He said, "Would you like some more conversation, or would you rather I leave you alone to your books and music?"

After the brain training, Sylvia was exhausted, and at his comment she shook her head, "I'm afraid I'm all conversed out today. I think a bit of rest will do me some good after the long day." She yawned widely and stretched her forelegs before her, her sharp claws tapping on the ground. "Thank you, though. I appreciate all you've told me, and I hope soon I'll be able to see the Griffon Kingdoms for myself."

"We've done all of the tests we wanted to for now." Sandro smiled at her, "Tomorrow is your day. I'll take you flying in the morning, outside, while we fly I will give you a bird's eye view of the important landmarks in the kingdom. I'm sure you'll appreciate it. Of course I'll be glad to discuss more of our arts and music with you then." The griffon, stood from his seat, "After that, we'll see how we can help each other." He said, giving the dragonness a courteous bow, apparently he knew somewhat of dragon mannerisms, as he inclined his head completely downwards, indicating trust.
He smiled at her again and left the room, leaving Sylvia alone with her thoughts.

As he bowed, she grinned happily and bowed back, glad to have met such an honorable griffon. As he left, she felt her excitement bubble within her. She would see the kingdoms for herself in the morning. As she closed her eyes, she began to drift away, her dreams filled with herself flying through wonderful scenery and exploring new places that she had never seen before. She finally felt like she was getting somewhere. Befriending the griffons was one of the best things she could do, and she hoped that it would take her down a path of learning and excitement.
