The journey to Dragon Mountain had proven to be unfruitful, at least for its original purpose. Zecora cursed herself for not being able to push further to confirm the meaning behind the foreboding feeling. At least she still had the vial of blood she had collected from the strange, burning timberwolf, so it had not been complete misadventure.
Even as Zecora tried to keep her eyes on the future, she still found herself looking back on the past. It had been weeks since the Ponyville evacuation and yet this had been her first time in Canterlot since then. Her expedition to Dragon Mountain had taken a decent amount of time and the zebra had spent many days in the Everfree contemplating what she would do next before then. The vast forest had become a home for her, but with the quaint town now razed to the ground, the feeling of comfort had become tarnished. Maybe she had been foolish to think that she could stay in one place for long. She had the soul of a nomad, which had brought her first to the Everfree, and was now bound to bring her elsewhere. The people of Ponyville were still very dear to the zebra, though. Canterlot was not a terrible distance from the mountain, so Zecora decided that this was a decent opportunity to reconnect with the ponies.
She didn't notice any familiar faces among the crowd as she strolled into the city, so her gaze went upwards towards the architecture. The towering and opulent structures were impressive, but their appeal was hardly lasting. They were sterile, orderly and expected. Zecora couldn't imagine herself living in such a place.

((Going to assume Zecora has saddlebags with that vial in it for this. If this is completely wrong, shoot me a pm.))
"Move it or lose it, stripy!" Exclaimed the voice of a young mare behind Zecora, as the owner of said voice pushes past the zebra, bumping into her and knocking her saddle bag against her ribs. As she skirted by, Zecora, the in-tune zebra that she is, would easily pick up the static in the air and how dry the area had just become. Little sparks from the unicorn's horn spurted out uncontrollably, easily licking at the zebra's mane as she continued past.
Once a few hoof steps in front of Zecora, the young mare turned around and showed off a familiar vial wrapped in her magic - the timberwolf blood. She snickered and bolted, darting into a nearby alley.

But just as she was about to enter the alley she collided into something very large and very hard, something that she hadn't quite noticed. Perhaps because the color of its coat matched the darkness in the alley, or perhaps because it simply knew how to avoid being seen.
She was now staring up into the eyes of a large charcoal coated pegasus, with long raven black mane and very pale yellow eyes, like a pair of glittering stars. "And where would you be going with that stolen property?" Asked the Pegasus. A step into the light revealed him to be wearing armor of the Equestrian Army, possibly a nocturnal unit of some sort.
"You'd best return that, miss, or there could be trouble." The stallion said casually but commandingly.

As she continued to scan the crowd, a sudden cry caught her attention. Before Zecora could even turn around though, the filly had already rammed into her, leaving a brief shock in her wake. Zebra gave the young mare a stern look, ready to scold her. That was until she saw the vial levitating near her. “That isn't yours, return it at once! For little thieves I have no patience!” she called. To her disdain, the unicorn scampered off instead.
She wasn't just going to give up that blood! Zecora gave chase to the crook, following her into an alley. The pursuit didn't last long though, as something seemed to cut the filly off. That something, however, turned out to be a large, dark stallion, displaying a clear insignia of the Equestria Army. She stopped on the other side of the unicorn, cutting her only other exit off. “There's nowhere to go, just return what you took. You were foolish to think you would get off the hook.”

The electrical filly's jaw dropped. This was complete cow-pucky, her friends were suppose to be here to back her up - this was their meal ticket tonight, or so they hoped. Dumb pegasus, where did he come from, she thought to herself. No use running, with a pegasus at her front and the zebra behind her, she was royally in a bind.
Defeated, she slumped her head sadly. "Fine... probably junk anyway." She said as she floated the vial back to the zebra. In its passing, she actually caught a glance at what it was. She had just snagged the first thing she could feel for with her magic, the thing that registered. Unusual that a liquid would be detectable by the pony's electrical field but then it dawned on her. Blood, salty iron. Gross! She shot it back to Zecora, wanting it away from herself. "That's nasty! See that mister!?" She asked, giving the Zebra a suspicious glance. "Who carries around blood on them? Seriously, I feel really icky right now so if you can let me go, I'll be on my way to find a bath and we can forget all about Miss Stripes and her blood in vials." She awkwardly and innocently smiled as she tried to slink around Zecora and out of the alley.

The stallion bopped Livewire on the head, "You're not going anywhere. Apologize." He commanded pointing at Zecora, He dipped his head slightly towards Zecora, "Darkness Reins." He introduced himself, "If you don't mind me asking, why are you carrying a vial of... well blood around?" He asked, "Could be misinterpreted by the less enlightened folk, what with us being in a war and all." The large stallion prodded Live Wire again, "Didn't I tell you to apologize? Don't make me bop you again."

Zecora snatched the vial from the air and promptly stored it back into her satchel. Her preciously displeased expression was replaced with an appreciative smile. “Thank you mister...Darkness Reigns,” the zebra began, pausing for the stallion's introduction. “I'm glad, with you, this conflict wanes.”
Was the blood vial really so strange? It was just another resource , like the sap from trees or iron from the earth. As much as she had grown to enjoy the company of ponies, they could be so peculiar sometimes. Zecora returned both of their speculation with a soft laugh. “I can assure you that this is no innocent pony's blood, but rather a strange creature's which was brought down with a thud. A blazing timberwolf is from where this sample came, though this draugt may bring light upon the source of its flame,” the shaman chimed.

Defeated and utterly surrounded by both a menacing looking Pegasus with a name that could make lesser ponies shake in their horse-shoes and a creepy Zebra hanging around with vials of blood in her pack. "Ahh... fine..." She hated apologizing. "I'm sorry creepy blood carrying zebra mare." She said, with her ears flat and looking embarrassed. "But why would you really think that was cool to keep that in a perfectly good place to swipe from!? That's weird, you're weird."
She sheepishly keeps try to back away, finagling around the alley trying to find an opening. "Can I go now, mister? I have to go electrocute my friends for bailing on me." She sparked up as she spoke of zapping her friends, quite sadistically. "You didn't kill them did you? You look like the type of pony that kills other ponies; I mean, they're jerks but not really jerky enough to be stamped to death."

"I tossed 'em away to the guards, they'll spend a night in the brig, maybe that'll teach them some manners." Darkness said, glowering at Live Wire, "I think maybe you should too, learn some manners. We have ways of teaching you know, oh yes... so many ways." He grinned at her evilly. "But I'll be with you in a second, don't try to run, I'll catch you."
"What's this blood of? A blazing timberwolf? Timberwolves don't bleed though, nor are they blazing..." The pegasus stated blankly, "What are you going to do with this?"

Zecora nodded sagely to the stallion's comment. “Indeed, for those reasons, the finding was quite queer. Still, the blood was found across its hide with a smear.” She paused for a moment, eyeing the vial and considering his question. “Although there's not much to use, I'll try to test its properties. Perhaps it will explain the reason for this fiery species.”
What an unruly child! Zecora couldn't agree more with Reign's sentiment! Respect for others was clearly lacking with the young unicorn. However, she had apologized and no real harm had been done, so there was no need to chastise her further. It didn't mean she couldn't torment her a bit too! “I believe the filly has had enough punishment, although a 'volunteer' would be useful for my experiment," she said in a light-hearted, though foreboding, tone.

Live Wire's eyes lit up like the fire of Celestia's sun the moment the zebra suggested she be used as an experiment. "Oh no! I ain't no guinea pig! I'm not even pork for cripes sake!" She protested, "I just wanted something to sell for a daffodil sandwich, never asked for no experimentation! You'all crazy, ya hear. Crazy!"
Live Wire backed up into the wall, feeling threatened, her horn flared with electrical magic. "I'm not above tasering you both, they don't call me Live Wire for nothing ya' know. So how about we just let by gones be by gones and I get out of here? Manners or not." The filly was serious, her horn alight with electrical energy that she obviously was unable to completely control. She was dangerous, not only to others but herself as well. Sparks flew and arches of electricity snapped between her horn and body. She was ready to fight to the death if it came down to it - though her youth made it more of a threat than a certainty.

The pegasus chuckled, "Really, you're going to try and shock a pegasus? My dear, now you're threatening an officer of the kingdom." Darkness said, hardly fazed by her threats, "Look, there's the easy way, or the hard way to do this. Now, either you give yourself in, I'll even get you that sandwich, or we do this the easy way."
"As for you, no experimenting on live ponies, in fact, I think you should turn that blood in to the proper authority, if it belongs to what you say it does, it is invaluable. How did you stop that Timber Wolf?" He asked, not moving his eyes off of Live Wire.

Zecora stood her ground as the electricity wildly licked the air. She could feel the nip of the sparks that strayed dangerously close to her. It was such an untamed exhibition of magic; the zebra couldn't help but briefly relish in the display. However, it was clearly a reckless move as well. If things escalated any further, someone was going to get hurt. She just wasn't sure who.
“It was merely a joke, there is no need for alarm. If you go with Darkness Reigns, you should not expect harm,” Zecora insisted, looking to the officer for confirmation.
Proper authority? There was definitely was some value in exploring the mystery behind those flames. While she was confident in her training, there wasn't much room for error, given the small sample collected. She recalled how studious Twilight was. Perhaps she had another reason for seeing her friend. Zecora gave a firm nod to the recommendation and moved to his next question.
“It was my pegasus companion who vanished the beast. With a cloud he doused it and with a swift kick, it was deceased.”

Still defeated and her bluff completely foiled, what more could the filly do. "Ughhhh fine." She groaned. "Long as there is food, I don't care what happens. I'm at your mercy..."
The unicorn had perked her ears up, listening curiously to the Pegasus and Zebra exchange about the blood and its origins. She, supposed, it was cool that she seemed so able to help take down a monster and act like it was nothing. That did not dismiss her uneasy vibe the zebra gave her. And the rather unsettling joke didn't help her feel any better. "Right.... joke... haha..." She awkwardly scraped the ground with her hoof, then turned to Darkness Reigns and tugged at his side/ "She's weird, please say I don't have to go with her?"

"She means you no harm." The pegasus said firmly, "Now if you two will come with me, we'll get this blood vial thing sorted out and you can be free to go about your business, zebra." He hasn't caught neither of their names and honestly was not overly keen to get it. Knowing names means he'd probably have to go look them up and see if they were trouble, well the filly was going to get it anyway, but the zebra would probably be a fuss to handle if anything bad turned out. Best to leave her alone unless she was actually doing something wrong.
He shoved the teen pony with a hoof and as an afterthought put a daisy chain on her ankle and his, that way she can't run and her electrical magic won't help her. "Go on then, to the District Watch, I'm sure you know the way." He said to Live Wire.
