A dark gray unicorn sighed as she pulled up the shutters to the new shop. The evacuation of Ponyville was quick and confusing. Bellows her father had fallen into a deep depression since leaving there home to whatever catastrophe awaited it. Tongs however knew that their services were desperate needed for the kingdom and did her best to pull together a proper Forge. It was slapdash forge but it would suit her needs at least for now. A couple unicorns speaking as they cantered by paused as they saw her face.
They medical ponies had said she would be able to be healed from the battle but she liked having a constant reminder if anything just to keep the pretty ponies shocked. She chuckled to herself as she light the fire and began heating up the coals.

To her rag-tag forge entered a pony wearing a rather ragged cloak and carrying a large bundle of metal on his back. He wasn't trying to conceal his identity, but was actually covering up the recent treatment he got for his wounds fighting Iron Shoes. Now it was time to straighten up his armor from the dent it recieved and of course to wash the blood off the inner side and oil it up. The hydraulics needed some work as well.
Field Marshal Starling, undeterred by Tongs' scars, approached her. "Heya, heard you were in one of the strike teams back in the Eclipse Crisis, so I thought you could help me out with my armor here?" He asked directly, surveying her scarred face with mild interest.

Tongs eyed his armor with a practiced gaze. She struggled to place the design of the armor, it must be from another kingdom that Equestria had begun an alliance with. Her crimson eyes flicked up to see Starling studying her carefully. "Thunderbird, looks like you fared better than we did if all you have is the dent." She gave a small chuckle out of nervousness. Her new clientele was much more intimidating than the ponies back home. "I'll see what I can do with it." Her horn glowed as it unfastened the armor and placed onto the anvil. "Where'd you get these? It is some type I have never seen, certainly not pony made."

"Griffon made, actually worked it myself when I was serving there. Took the time to study the hydraulics and smithing from a few of their more talented crafters. As for the dent, that was a scrape from Iron Shoes, wasn't pleasant I'll tell you that. But we got him." He explained, "Also be careful on the hydraulics, they're important."
He nodded at her face and asked, "You got that during Thunderbird? I saw Whitefire in action... kind of scary what unicorns can do when they're really ticked off."

"Especially Unicorns with a screw loose..." Tong's ears flattened as she inspected the armor closer. "The dent shouldn't be that hard to kick back in, I don't think." she lifted the plate in the forging and began pumping the bellows with her hind leg as the fire grew bright and hotter.
"The hydraulics will be tricky and I may need a day or so just to make sure I don't ruin them" She spoke over her shoulder while keeping an eye on the glowing metal.

"A day or two? I don't have time to wait a day or two. The hydraulics don't even have a problem. I just need you to wash and oil them up." He argued, "Look, all I need is that dent fixed and some wash and polish, that's all." He continued, "I'm positive you can do it quicker than that."

Tong's crimson eyes narrowed in annoyance, "You were in the bog as long as the rest of us, probably longer by the looks of you." She flung the glowing armor to the anvil and began beating the underside of the dent with a levitated hammer as she turned her gaze to Starling. Her mane tinkling with the metal trinkets. "Either you want done right or a hurried job and they seize in the middle of a battle all for a poor rush job." The pounding of the hammer grew louder echoing around the shop.

"I wasn't in the bloody bog. I just came back from being on a mission in the Everfree for over a year." Starling said, "All my armor has is ONE little dent and a bit of blood on the inside. If you can't even fix that in an hour or so, then really I should not be entrusting you with it at all. Thank you for your time." Starling said, gathering up the bundle of metal again, annoyed at Tongs' lack of attentiveness to what he was saying.
He'd just have to wait until evening and use the palace forges himself and do it. As annoying as that was.

The hammer paused and fell to the floor. "I-um..." Her horn continued to glow as she slid it into the water with a great hiss of steam 'Great going Tongs' she muttered under her breath 'let attack our first customer...'
As she pulled the cooled metal from the water, she turned back to Starling, "I apologize, I've been just a bit on edge lately and because of that I didn't want to damage your property." Her eye lowered down, as she wiped the metal, it would need at least a another go around before it would be completely gone. "Give me until this evening free of charge and I promise I will have it ready."

"That's more reasonable." Starling said, "It's the middle of a war out there, and as a Field Marshal, I'm pretty much needed right now. This is both my armor and weapon. I need it as fast as can be, alright? What's your name, beautiful?" He asked, not at all joking or making fun of Tongs' scars.

Tong's mouth fell open, in her mind her voice raced of what an idiot she was. "Tongs.." She stammered and she went back to the forge.
She turned and saluted"I apologize sir. I will have it tonight even hoof deliver if need be."

Starling chuckled, "Don't be like that. I didn't go to a military smith for a reason." He said, "Although seeing you in the evening does sound lovely. How about eight, my barracks are on the left side of the palace, hope you like cider." He said, brushing her as he turned to leave, "I'll pay you when I see the results." He commented, then left.

The grey unicorn hung her head hiding herself beneath her tangled mane. " At eight, see you then." her words muffled.
As he exited the shop her legs seemed to give way. "Oh for Celestia's sake Tong's what on Equestria is wrong with you?!" she squealed thunking her face onto the ground. It took only a moment before she went back to work her face hot not from the forge but her own embarassment.
