The Shadow aimed Gilda at the edge of the forest far from the mill, where the Rainlock forces probably were, once they were on the edge he had Gilda set him down. As soon as she landed, he jumped her.
"You'll forgive me for this, trust me." He said, jamming Gilda's real eye back into her socket, now absorbed by the Eye of Cassius, the eye quickly reattached itself to its owner with a sharp, albeit momentary pain.
"There you go," The Shadow said, hopping off Gilda, "You're now the proud bearer of the Eye of Cassius. Rainlock can try as hard as she wants, the Eye isn't going to break off from your real eye until it feels like it." He grinned at Gilda, helping her back to her talons.
"And oh don't worry, we'll definitely be seeing each other again. Now that I don't have anything that wench wants, I'll lay low for a bit, but I'll be back for you yet." He said, "Keep that mic, if you're ever in dire need, feel free to call." The shadow winked at her. "Now if the good lady doesn't mind to cuddle up for the fireworks show..." The pony said, wrapping the griffon in a one armed embrace, the other pointing in the direction they just came from.
The explosion that occurred was nothing short of fantastic, though she was sure the eco-dweebs would disagree with that, a fantastic neon flash followed by mushroom cloud flaming in all spectrums possible, so bright it lit up the night sky as though it was the middle of the day, but not only in bright blue but in several other psychedelic color combinations as well. Even as far as they were, they could still feel the massive gust of wind from the explosion nearly throw them off and the shockwave was soon to follow, stopping only several hooves from where they stood. Needless to say the sound of the explosion rang out throughout all of Equestria, even the dorks at Canterlot should have been able to see and hear this light show.
The Grey Shadow grinned at Gilda, "Well that's all for today." He said stretching and preparing to move into the shadows again. "I'll catch you around... what's your name again?"

The Shadow's brashness took Gilda by surprised, pinned underneath, she wasn't sure what to expect - and when the eye came into play, she was apprehensive. "Wait!? What!?" She didn't resist but she was taken back, surprised by the sudden sharp spike of pain to rattle her brain follow by the odd feeling of her nerves, muscles, and veins reconnecting to the odd magical device now firmly situated in her skull. It was peculiar, slightly warm and overall actually quite pleasant and in a few moments her eye sight begun to come back, like a steady trickle. First simple light and darkness, next shadows and shapes, then a rough focusing like cataracts, till finally, it was clear as it ever was. She gasped, she never thought, not for once, she would be able to see again.
As Shadow embraced her in a cuddle to watch the show unfold, he reciprocated in kind. It was 'nice', warm, and just perhaps he wasn't such a dweeb after all. He did give her sight back and for that, alone, she felt indebted. It was, of course, made all that much more awesome by the explosion that followed. The intense heat, the wave of sound and air that washed over them, it was exhilarating beyond measure. She wanted to watch, but the intense light forced her to divert her eyes, covering them with her talons - in the chaos of that scene, she sneaked a little kiss onto Shadows cheek, pretending it was just her avoiding the shock wave against him.
As the eerie clam befell the land, she rose with him, her talons running over the microphone in them. "Gilda... Whitefeather. And yours Shadow!?" She called back at him, she only knew him as Grey Shadow but she wanted to know so much more about him. Where he came from, who he was, what he wanted. She was captivated by that thief in the night and felt nothing but the tinge of emptiness when he departed.

It wasn't long before the Rainlock squads rushed to Gilda's position to inspect where the explosion came from, and soon enough Rainlock's squad came out of the forest as well. Gilda had absolutely no idea how Rainlock managed to keep her squad alive in that explosion, but they didn't have a speck of dust on them.
Rainlock made a very surprised noise, which Gilda would notice with triumph, when she saw that Gilda now possessed the Eye of Cassius. A scowl crossed her face as she stared into Gilda's unnaturally gleaming eye. The neon fuchsia color of her new or rather old eye was very obvious.
"So I take it you got the eye back from Coyote..." She said in a grave whisper, "That was the Shadow's handiwork?" She nodded at the explosion site.

Gilda stood before Rainlock and her goons stoically, feeling a rush of confidence. Rainlock kept information, made her life hard and probably intended to see her dead to accomplish some sort of goal, and yet Gilda triumphed over it all. Griffons rules, ponies drooled, least rich mares.
"Yeah well, we both did it. Also Coyote is dead and I got my eye back. So I say that's a pretty good day overall - wouldn't you agree?" She tapped the side of her head with a talon, "If you don't mind, going to borrow this for a little bit since it was mostly mine in the first place. I'll even cut you a deal on payment, hoof over some bits for a nice meal and enough for something fun after all that trouble and we'll call ourselves even? How does that sound?" She offered her talon for a shake, in her opinion it was a fair bargain.

Rainlock shrugged, "That was a pretty rad explosion." She said with a nod, "Give the griffon some dough." She said to one of her guards, "I'm satisfied as long as the eye is not going to get in the wrong hooves. If you killed Coyote in the process, all the better." She said, shaking Gilda's talon. "I don't have anything else for you right now. But if you find yourself in need of employment in the future, drop by." She said hopping into the air and flying off with her squad.
"Oh and don't worry about all the mess, I'll make sure Coyote gets all the blame for that." She waved a hoof at the wrecked section of the forest. One of the captains of Rainlock's force produced a sackful of bits, more than enough for a comfortable stay even in the most exclusive places in Manehattan.

Gilda was taken back by how cool Rainlock was about this whole thing, she coined her for being a stuck up mare, but heck, not too shabby. She responded to her shake in kind, smirking with delight. "Hey, you're cooler than I'd have thought; I appreciate somepony who can enjoy an awesome explosion like the rest of us proletarians." She said with a cheeky smirk before taking her bits from the goon. "And I will, you certainly know how to keep a girl on her wings, that's for sure, not going to turn up another opportunity like that." With her bits in talon she turn to leave, "Oh, one last thing. Grey Shadow, cut him a break will you? Like you said, Coyote was behind all this... Oh and if a kelpie comes by with some information for you, he's from me. Little something for you from the underground - bring an air freshener." She winked her new eye and took to the sky - she was going to have an amazing few days. She deserved it after all, time to treat herself for losing an eye, kissing a fish-pony, being tied up, knocked out and rocking an incredible explosion. All in all, best night ever.
Rainbow Dash, eat your heart out.
