"Mmm, well if it's only going to be two days, you'll probably have Peach and Breeze to keep you company. If they don't sleep the entire time, that is."
"Heard that," said the female unicorn. Indeed, Peach had set down her book and looked to be resting her eyes. And Breeze Chaser, of course, was still asleep.
"Yeah, just give Shade something to do other than watch you read. Anyways, in a day or two I probably head back to Equestria. Thing's have gotten busier now that the war's picking up, what with the Fifth Fleet switching sides and all. They want me to see if I can get a comment on it from the Council or the Navy, and if not go back home. Right now they want all the reporters they can get covering the war, so the paper's relocating some of us correspondents back to Equestria."
The nurse had finished wrapping up Shade's leg, and left the ponies to themselves in the room. "So yeah, out of one frying pan and into another I guess," Ink continued. "And you? You said you were leaving once you could move again. Where to?"

Well he wouldn't be entirely alone at the very least, though from the looks of things he would lose the only one who would bother talking to him. Well better quiet then alone. He folded his hooves together once he managed to get the icepack to sit over his eye and not move, letting himself lay back, "Probably the same place you'll be goin, friend.", a shrug left Shade's weary shoulders, "Equestria soil's probly lots less dangerous for me... I don't seem to be the most liked amongst our feathered friends here.", he gestured around and gave a soft sight, "Might see what kinda work I could find in Canterlot... Maybe I might go back to Trottingham and make a name for myself in that swell harbor city, ah?"
That was only two of the many things he could do with the amount of time he had on his hooves. But would the world permit it? Probably not in this case but it was always worth a shot.
He scratched his chest, and turned his eye in Peach's direction, "So what'ya been readin if ya don't mind my askin?", hey anything to start conversation... with a few sentences maybe he'd unlike the opprotunity to chat with her the rest of the time Ink Slinger wasn't around. And of course he stayed loud enough to be heard... but not loud enough to wake the sleeping pegasus.

"The Incredible Adventures of Derby McRedmane," Peach answered, keeping her eyes closed. "It's on okay book. Kind of drags at the beginning."
Ink looked over at Peach while several seconds of silence filled the room. "Yeah, real interesting. Well, Shade; Canterlot, Trottingham, wherever you end up going, I hope things work out for you." The pegasus leaned back in his bed, folding his arms behind his head. "Yep. After a week in here, I'm definitely ready for a change in scenery."
The rest of the day passed mostly uneventfully. Shade and the rest of the patients were brought their meals, then left alone for the night until the next day. The doctor didn't reappear until the next morning to check up on a drowsy Breeze Chaser, and then a few hours later to get new X-Rays of Peach's rib cage. He didn't show himself again until a good while after midday, at which point he released Ink Slinger. "Keep the bandages on for another three days. The sight in that eye's not going to be perfect, but if it's gone entirely or whatever else, come and see me or a doctor in Equestria."
"Got it. Thanks, Doc. Later everybody," the pegasi hopped down from his bed, trotting out of the pony ward and back into the city of Royal Rocks. The doctor then made his way over to Shade's bed, bringing a box along with him.
"Your cast came in earlier than I thought. Should only take us a few minutes to put it on." Without even needing to wheel Shade out of the room, the doctor took off the bandage wrapped around Shade's leg, replacing it with his new cast.
The cast was fairly light weight and flexible, open on two ends and fastened tightly with three straps. It was clearly designed to keep the leg in place rather than offer protection. It even looked like it could be easily removed by loosening the straps, though Shade's doctor made it clear he was to keep it as it was for the next several weeks. "And like I said, be very sure not to let that leg get damaged. If you fall on it or it gets a hard hit with something, your leg's going to be in worse condition than when you came in here. Now, in about an hour or so I'll have one of the nurses walk you around the hospital, up and down the stairs and what-not, to see how well the cast works for you. Unless there's any glaring issues, we'll plan on keeping you over night and releasing you tomorrow morning."
"Also, this came for you." The doctor reached into the box and handed Shade a folded piece of paper, closed with the official seal of the Griffon Military Council. It read as follows:
Shadestride Scythe,
It has come to the attention of this council that as of two days ago, you were apprehended under charges of trespassing, resisting arrest, and destroying public property, being released with bail the following day. It is also reported that you were seen the day of your arrest consorting with Filcher Snowpath, a griffon suspected of dealings with the former royal advisor Loci Silverbeak. This, alongside you having been brought to Royal Rocks under the request of the deceased Mr. Silverbeak, has raised concerns as to your allegiance.
Under a six-tenths majority vote, it has been decided that you be formally asked to leave the city of Royal Rocks as soon as you are recovered, and escorted if necessary. Your citizenship and award for meritorious service have been stripped. Your hospital bills and flight to Equestria will be paid in full.
Royal Rocks thanks you for your service and wishes you the best.
"Oh, we were able to find a chess set by the way. Lucky you."
