There were few who dared to go alone to the Red Plains at night. The site, besides the rumors of being haunted by the spirits of the many, many casualties whose blood reddened the soils of the land, was also a the nesting grounds for more than several types of monsters. The Griffon Kingdom has been driving them out every once in a while, but they have not in the past year or so.
With all of that in mind, it was more than surprising that a lone griffon allowed herself to stand there near the shadow of the monument of the Battle of the Red Plains.
"If what you say is true," Said the griffon, tapping her golden gauntlets on her beak, "Then they have been weakened considerably." Tempest, leader of the Tempest Triad, the largest outlaw organization in the Griffon Kingdom was the daring griffon who had braved the plains at night. But she was not alone, a figurfe hidden in the shadow of the monument stirred.
"Quite a bit." A male voice replied from beneath the shadows. The griffon bowed and displayed her new golden gauntlets, cackling with electricity and wind power.
"Well, if you're done talking..." The griffoness said at last, "As you see I've finally managed to get these... lost a good number of griffons to do so, however. Thanks for getting Gregoros off my wings. I was afraid he wouldn't stop."
"Make no mistake, he's not on our side, he's just not going to go out of his way to stop us. So long as you don't go after any more civilians."
"It was a necessary act." Tempest defended, "If not for that meddling soldier, it would have ended much differently."
The hidden figure did not reply for a while, eventually Tempest lowered her eyes.
"Anyway, with these I'm one step closer. The new Military Council is also going to be great boon. Maybe they'll listen to reason more. I'm sure Stygg can understand us, maybe you should talk to her."
"She'll come to me when it's time, she'll want to build back all the kingdom's lost and she'll find no sympathy elsewhere."
Tempest blinked, "Well if you have it all figured out... I guess there is one more thing I wanted to say... Thank you. I... don't think I would have been able to get as far as I have without your help. Sometimes I feel like we're the only sane beings in the world." The former Air Marshal confessed.
"It's only a matter of time before others realize what we already have. They're already starting to realize it, not just here but all over." The figure said, walking out of the shadows to start its trek back to where it came from, his armor shun brightly in the moonlight, he looked just like a fairy-tale knight... though in Tempest's minds, most fairy tales written about him did not give justice to how much he actually did for this world.
Tempest waited a moment and then hopped forwards, "Starling!" She called, "I... If we live through this in the end... maybe we could... get back-"
"I am absolutely certain that's impossible, Tempest." Starling cut across her before she could finish her thought, "But what we had was good while it lasted. You knew your choice to break off from the Aer Force had consequences..." and then, with a nod of his head, he continued on, leaving Tempest disappointed and beginning his journey back to Equestria.
However, Tempest was known for her ability to look at the silver lining in the darkest situations, if what he had told her was true, then there was still hope...
