Character Personality: Viper Strike would best be described as the strong, silent type. He doesn't make friends easily, and has trust issues dating back to his yearling years (for you that don't know horse terms, this is basically the teenage life) when he was involved in a terrifying experiment. Regardless of how others have treated him, he still stands for what is right and will not stand by if the innocent are being harmed.
Bio (optional) : When he was younger, Viper Strike was hoof-selected to be a part of a government condemned experiment concocted to create the perfect soldier. Already being one of the night guards, he had proven what his learning and fighting capabilities would be worth, and, being so young, was perfect for the experiment. The idea was to fuse his DNA with that of a deadly viper, using the stored venom that the laboratory stocked in case of a snake bite wound. What the scientist were trying to achieve was a thicker hide, quick reflexes, a sharp bite, night vision as well as daytime, and sensitive hearing.
The first part of the transformation involved being painfully injected with the altered snake venom infused with his own white blood cells, like an anti-venom. The result was a sickness that left the stallion in a cold sweat, and barely able to rise from his knees. The scientists then threw him in what looked like a large glass box and shut the single metal door. Barely conscious, he was instantly given radioactive exposure which made him feel like his skin was burning off.
Viper was left in that treatment room for several days while his skin healed. He felt burned inside and out. After the fourth day in there, he was found huddled in the corner, trying to cover his head in protection from all of the bright lights. The experiment backfired, leaving him almost blind in the light. His skin was fur-less, burned and scarred from the unnatural treatment. A nurse was sent in to apply a salve, accompanied by a guard in case of any aggressive recoil. The stallion sat there calmly, head still covered by his long mane that had managed to hang on. The nurse screamed in shock as she saw the scaly, fur-free skin that she was expected to apply the salve to. His newly sensitive ears flattened to muffle the sound and the guard braced himself for an attack, but nothing happened. Viper Strike was showing no signs of aggression. Once the mare regained her composure, she continued to rub the salve gently into his hide, focusing on the patches that seemed greatly affected. The burning skin slowly changed to a tingly sensation, and then all-together, went away.
Shortly after this, the pegasus was relocated to a room with only a red light bulb as to not bother his eyes. His large, muscled body was regrowing some fur, but not retaining much body heat, so that bulb was soon replaced by a large heat lamp that was originally used for the reptiles kept in the Canterlot Zoo.
Once the experiment was discovered by Equestria royalty, it was shut down so as to never create any more "monsters" or harm any other equine. Viper Strike was condemned to spend the rest of his life in solitude.
