Rainbow Ranch, one of the classiest places in Cloudsdale, all served in a good old fashion ranch style. Meant huge delicious mouth watering dishes and good entertainment. Great food and big plates, what else could a pony want? It's no wonder then that the place was nearly always booked.
Whisper Wind walked up to the restaurant, he had a date here with a filly he met the other day, who nearly ran him over. Was rather cute too. He wasn't early, he was right on time, so he approached the host, looking around to see if she was already there.

But in typical Rebel Yell style, she was running late.
The midnight blue pegasus dabbed as much mascara as she could to her lashes, even though the bottle kept slipping in her hooves. Once she was satisfied, she placed the bottle down gently and backed up. She looked at her hair and eyes from different angles in the mirror before she nodded. Quickly, she walked from her house and into the street, heading for Rainbow Ranch.

After having secured a table by a window overlooking the valley of Equestria, Whisper Wind waited outside to greet Rebel Yell as she came. Of course, late. He greeted her with a warm smile and said, "You know, Stars or no Stars, they do have a strict policy about arriving on time." and winked at her.
He led her to their table where they both sat down on some very comfortable cushions, the view to the dusk-lit valley below was incredible and Whisper Wind was watching it with a smile, before a rather plump waiter came to hand them their menus and a complimentary bottle of vintage apple cider.
After the waiter left, Whisper asked, "What does your cutie mark stand for?" He asked politely.

Rebel smiled at him, a smile which made her look like a totally different pony to the one he'd met at the station.
"Actin', and writin'," she said warmly. She gave a loving little glance at her cutie mark. "It took me so long to get it," She cast her lilac eyes back to the pony in front of her. "What 'bout yours?"

Whisper Wind looked at his cutie mark, a brilliant ethereal wing with wisps of air coming off it. "I'm a very quiet pony. I fly and walk without a sound, and I love it. I love being free to fly without being bothered, I love being able to go into dangerous places to think and not be heard by anyone, or be able to avoid confrontations. It's just... being free you know? Not being forced to any situation." The stallion smiled at her, "Comes from growing up with a whole bunch of brothers always trying to pull pranks and pounce on me."
"An actress eh? How does it make you feel when you're on stage?" He asked, performing in front of everypony was the opposite of what he did. He always imagined what it would be like.

"Maybe you could give me some lessons on how to be quiet, then," Rebel giggled softly, sounding very unlike herself. "I don't usually like flyin', unless it's absolutely necessary," She fluttered her wings a little, for extra measure.
"Oh, acting? It is a little dauntin' at first, but as the play goes on, you lose yourself in the character..." Rebel smiled appreciativly.

"If you want to take a swoop around the valley later, we could definitely do that." Whisper Wind smiled at her, as the plump waiter returned for their orders.
"I'll have the seared tofu fillet with the sauteed hay on the side." Whisper Wind ordered, and then said to Rebel, "Feel free to order anything you want." He grinned.

All the fancy food didn't make an inch of sense to the blue pegasus. She looked up and smiled at the waiter.
"I'll have the same, thank you," she said kindly. As he walked away, she cast her eyes back to Whisper Wind. "I would love to..."

"You're on then." He beamed at her, leaning closer on the table, "I must say you look great, the mascara really brings out your eyes, and I like them." He complimented sincerely. "How about we skip the desserts, and after the main course we go fly? Don't want to be too full when we have our fun do we?"
Something about the mare's demeanor was certainly appealing. Easy going, relaxed, and very responsive. My, he might have found something with her. Who would have thunk it?

Rebel blushed, and looked down. Was he... Flirting with her? She scuffed her hoof against the ground, a little embarrassed.
"Skip dessert? Um, sure..." she said, her voice dropping an octave. A spark flickered in the pony's heart. Had she found a connection with this colt?

As the food began to arrive at their table, Whisper Wind began to discuss local news. He mentioned that the Field Marshal finally came back from Everfree, that the Winter Ferals have finally been driven out of Equestria, and then wondering how she felt about all of these.
"I mean, it's big news, but I wonder if everyone agrees if it's good news." He said between bites, looking curiously over at the mare.

Rebel Yell nodded. She wasn't really up to date with the news; well, to be honest, she didn't really care. She munched slowly on her meal, trying not to stare at the colt in front of her.
"I guess it could be good news, but with all the pros and cons flittin' through Ponyville, I can't make up my mind..." she said thruthfully.

"Well I think getting rid of the Winter Ferals has to be good. They were really making a mess, and they were making the regular ferals much more aggressive. It'll also be the last thing that the dragons influenced gone. After this, the only proof Dragons ever invaded Equestria is the history books." Whisper Wind mentioned, "I still think it's for the best."
"About Field Marshal Starling, well, he's supposed to be the best Equestria has. After all, there's only been two Field Marshals in history, and both have done amazing things. Even the Stars founder was never a Field Marshal." He said, "Feels just a bit safer finally having him back."

Rebel smiled lightly.
"Sorry, never paid any attention in school or to the news... Oh, that makes me sound terrible..." The mare flushed with embarrassment again. "But by the sound of it, it'sa good thing."

The rest of the meal went rather pleasantly, with a few sips of the last of the cider, Whisper called the waiter for their checks, and soon they were already out in the open air above the valley, Cloudsdale slowly growing distant behind them as they flew, the soft spring breeze in their face.
Rebel could notice that Whisper was not kidding, not a hoof or a wing made a single noise as he was flying. His style of flying was more like gliding than anything, like an owl. He gracefully circled in the air, diving through cloud tips and just enjoying the flight.
