“Again, colt… I won’t be needing you to rush into things just yet,” Crystal groaned after a brief sigh of annoyance. Clearly this new recruit was not aware of all paperwork that she would have to complete just to assign such a promotion like this. She would quite possibly spend the rest of the entire day notifying his current commanding officers of the change. A pegasus being brought into Crystal Lance’s magic division was certainly not something that happened every day. Now was not the time for the two ponies to be getting ahead of themselves on this.
And besides… it appeared the two of them had been making quite the scene. Just scanning the area around her, it looked as if almost every single soldier in the mess hall had been giving their conversation a look. She could barely pick up faint whispers of gossip. It seemed she had by now overstayed her welcome.
“To put it simply, I’m going to have to go through a lot just change your position. And it will likely take me the majority of the day,” Crystal began to explain to Cloudfall, her eyes turning away from the eavesdropping crowds of recruits. “Anyway, I’ll need you to meet me in my office later tonight. Is that understood, Cloudfall?”

"Oh. R-right... Of course." Cloudfall said slowly, and nodded. Paperwork. Right. That made sense. Of course he wouldn't just start working for her, there was a bunch of red tape first. He was just getting ahead of himself, which was unlike himself. Hay, this whole thing was unlike him. He should be napping on a cloud somewhere...
He noticed Crystal's eyes look around, and that's when he felt it. All the eyes looking at them. It made him want to curl up and hide in a dark corner, just so they wouldn't see him and stop staring. But he had to force himself to stay put and stand tall the best he could.
"Right. Yes, Ma'am." Cloudfall nodded. Again, that made sense. This was not the place to be talking about something like this in detail. Not with all the eyes... Her office would be best.

“Well then, I guess I should begin in taking my leave…” Crystal muttered lightly to Cloudfall, hoping the words wouldn’t be overheard. It wasn’t that she felt she had anything to hide. Crystal simply hated the company of eavesdroppers. She let out an intense glare toward one crowd of soldier ponies. As they slowly began to scurry away from the mess hall, the other soldiers slowly began to do the same. Crystal Lance’s commanding eye was certainly not something to be taken lightly.
With that, the interior of the mess hall gradually began to grow less and less crowded. The other ponies had been leaving and it had been the time for Crystal Lance to do the same. She began to build up a relaxingly paced trot, slowly moving away from the dark pegasus Cloudfall. She abruptly came to a halt as she remembered she had something else to say.
“Oh… And I almost forgot…” Crystal Lance mentioned as she turned her neck back around toward the direction of Cloudfall. “I might have a surprise prepared for you later tonight. Something for you to look forward to, I assume.”
And with that final word, the military mare had left the scene.

Cloudfall stared blankly at Crystal Lance as she left. She.. had a surprise for him? For some reason, that thought scared him more then the idea of the other ponies in the staring at him. Crystal seemed nice enough, but he just had the feeling that he would not like her version of a surprise.
With a shutter, Cloudfall shook himself out of his shocked state and glanced around the Hall. It seemed most of the ponies had left, which was fine by him. He glanced back at his table, but he wasn't feeling hungry any more at the moment. Instead, he flipped up his hood and trotted out. He had until nightfall... maybe he would get some flying in until then. Stretch his wings and get a look at the city some more.
