((Ugh...I'm so unreliable, gotta stop having blocks))
All of Cosmos' doubts were washed away in a millisecond. This was Rainbow Dash, right in front of her, performing the very stunt that made her famous at the Young Flyers Competition. She raised her front hooves, posed together, to the base of her head in admiration. A stunned silence came over her, knowing full well that Rainbow Dash had to concentrate, rushing faster and faster, reaching that ever-crucial moment...

Sky Rocket watched in awe as Rainbow Dash began accelerating across the sky. He admired her concentration, her constant practicing, and especially her will to never give up. For once in his life, all he could do is stand there silent, watching what would be unfolding before his and the other ponies' eyes.

Just when she reached the crucial point, Rainbow Dash realized she wasn't going to make it. She was as determined as ever to do the Sonic Rainboom again - something she hadn't managed since the Best Young Flyer Competition - but something was missing. The fire inside her, the little voice telling her to give that extra bit it would take... it wasn't there. This time she was prepared for the compressed air's backlash, she had learned from her errors in countless hours of training. She kicked her hind hooves forward just in time to be propelled face-first into the opposite direction like a crossbow bolt. As she was flung back towards the little cloud, she got ready for the jeer the other ponies would no doubt toss at her. What was I thinking, trying that on some random occasion?? She redirected her momentum with a routined somersault and landed on the cloud. An inner voice told her to just fly away, but she was aware that if she did that, she could never again show her face in Cloudsdale, and plus, she was way to exhausted to even move right now. So she just stood there, heavily breathing, waiting for the other pegasi to say something.

Tailwind witnessed rainbow dash as he could see the Mach cone forming in front of her but it just wasnt right. Just as dash bounced off the wind tailwind sighed in contentment. He landed next to dash and smiled. He didn't need to see a sonic rainboom to know his idol still had her prowess. She was still a legendary Pegasus and she was ready to deliver "now that's the rainbow dash I idolized back at the young fliers competition" he patted her back and clopped his hooves in approval.

Witnessing Dash's use of the wind to fling her back to the cloud made her think for a bit. Whilst she expected the Sonic Rainboom that she remembered hearing pegasi everywhere cheer about, she noted how useful using the wind as a launcher could be. If only she was as fast as Rainbow Dash was. Then maybe she could dart to the ground at her fastest speed, then use the wind to spring her high into the air, and then she wouldn't need more crazy contraptions. Less work on Gloria's end for sure, and maybe she could frequent Ponyville less.
She wolf-whistled and clapped her hooves. "Good one, Rainbow Dash! You need to teach me how to do that!" she cried out sincerely.

Sky was saddened by the fact that Rainbow Dash could not complete her Sonic Rainboom. He could only imagine how tough a move it was to pull off. Nevertheless he still admired her willingness to try. Sky saw that Rainbow Dash was breathing heavily and was worried she was going to pass out and flew over to her. "Hey, are you ok, Rainbow Dash? You were amazing out there! You know, I didn't want to tell you before, but when you saw me on the cloud earlier, I was thinking about looking for a pony to be friends with, an I wondered if a pony with skills like yours would be a friend with somepony like me." His face then became flushed in embarrassment, as he spilled his thoughts to Rainbow Dash.

It took Rainbow Dash a couple of seconds to realize what was happening. They're making fun of me. She expected jeers or taunts, but the bitter sarcasm the pegasi were giving her hit her right in the stomach. "Yeah, that's it, go ahead. Make fun of Rainbow Crash, the lame-winged pegasus. Just tell me when it's over." She pushed Tailwind's hoof off her back and trotted over to the edge of the cloud. She sat down, looking at the sky roads of Cloudsdale, and waited for another wave of sarcastic compliments. They'll get bored of it eventually... I hope.

Tailwinds face fell in sorrow as he looped around in front of rainbow dash to make her look him in the eye. "Rainbow, your the reason I became a stunt flyer. I always thought some giant hippo with wings like me would never be able to do anything besides be some weather pony. But seeing you at the competition last year inspired me. I've spent the last year of my life training, getting stronger, and perfecting my abilities so that I could become a wonderbolt too. I've worked this hard all so that one day maybe you would notice me like I've noticed you. Your my hero dash" tailwind spilled his guts and immediately felt ashamed and vulnerable. He had never told anypony the reasons for his year of driven training. And now he was telling the very pony who started it all right in front of him. Tailwinds neck hung low as his forelegs came close to his chest. He was visibly embarrassed.

But I was cheering for her! How could something like that be taken to something so bad? Cosmos pondered. Maybe it was the fact that she had said it moments after "Show us a real trick, you feeble-winged pony!" and the fact that she went silent since then, but had a change of heart and decided to cheer her on just to spare the blue pegasus' feelings, when in reality, she had been on her side all along. At first, she was disappointed because Dash was so much better than what she put out, but the wind-catapult gave her a thousand new ideas that she wanted to posess for herself.
Cosmos flew down a few feet from Rainbow Dash. She was already getting comforted by Tailwind, so she thought she should wait her turn. Inside, her heart was eating at her for bringing it down, and unlike Sky and Tailwind, she had no interest in becoming more than Dash's friend, especially seeing as how her barn door didn't swing that way. Friendship would've been a nice thing too, but what she really wanted was Rainbow Dash to help her with her space explorations. The sudden realisation of this made her selfish, and at her inner most core, she really wanted to be the legendary pony's friend.
To make her point that she wanted to talk, she would approach them slowly, hoof by hoof, until someone took notice of her. She thought it was rude to interrupt, unless it was Gloria, then by all means, she could be interrupted all she liked, but that was only because they grew up joined at the hip. Just a foot away from the two pegasi, she stopped and sat on the cloud. She stared at Rainbow Dash, sincere hurt in her eyes. Or at least she thought she was putting on. Or maybe not. Cosmos tended to confuse herself sometimes.

Sky couldn't take it any longer. He flew towards the edge of the cloud where Rainbow Dash and the rest of the ponies were, almost knocking the others off the cloud in the process. "Rainbow Dash, look at me," Sky said with a voice that was very blunt and laced with frustration and saddness. "Look at me and listen, because if I have to say it again it will be too much. First, I truly appreciate who you are, not just the way you fly, but your never-give-up attitude and your loyalty. Second, I never try to hurt them with sarcasm and lies! Third, when I said I wanted to be your friend earlier, I meant it! Not one of your drooling fans! Not some love sick pony looking for a significant other! Not some pony to just practice with! A true friend. You think that I want you to be a hero. All I want is a friend!"
This was getting too much for Sky! Tears began flowing from his eyes which he made no attempt to hide. He didn't care that the others saw him as not the tough pony he appeared. He felt his face burning with anger and frustration. "But now Rainbow Dash I'm hurt. I'm hurt that you didn't listen to me! I'm especially crushed that you though that everything I said was a lie or to hurt you! I would NEVER do that, EVER! Look, if you don't want to be my friend, if anypony doesn't want to be my friend, all they have to do is say it, JUST SAY IT!"
He stared into Rainbow Dash's eyes, trying to not say anything stupid or hurtful. Finally, fearing that even looking at the rainbow pegasus might set his anger off, he turned and flew back to the other side of the cloud and sat with his head in his front hooves, crying bitter tears. It seemed like to Sky, everything was back to the beginning when he first sat on the cloud, thinking about lonlieness and the need for friends.

To say Rainbow Dash was confused after the two confessions would have been an understatement. "So, wait... You... you mean it?" She asked, looking at Tailwind and the female pegasus. She got back up on her hooves and looked at Sky Rocket, who had sat down on the other end of the cloud. "Really? You do?" She added while trotting towards him. She had no idea what she had to do or say now, but she felt she was responsible for making Sky Rocket cry and had to cheer him up... somehow.

Tailwind nodded "with every feather on my wings dash, you've been my hero and...even more for this past year. Your why I want to be a wonderbolt too.." tailwind looked deep into dash's eyes to show his sincerity as all the passion and drive of this last year burned within him. He then sat on a cloud just a few feet over to give rocket his space. Despite the fact that tailwind was in love with dash he didn't want to be rude or demanding to anyone. Especially not a crying Pegasus. If doing the right thing meant backing off then he would do it. Dash would always be his hero and inspiration even if she never returned his feelings

As Sky flew off depressed and distraught, Cosmos' heart sank rock hard back to Equestria. Both of these male pegasi were much more than what she first thought. They weren't just a bunch of love-sick horses, but were incredibly moved by Dash, and would stick by her side even if she failed, just as long as they were friends by the end of the day. And poor Sky was taking it hard. She couldn't mock him at all right now.
Jumping up and flapping her wings, Cosmos felt torn. Should she comfort Sky, or let Dash try to fix it? I mean, it was her he was interested in hearing kind words from after all. But maybe, if she went in to help him, he might think that she was on Dash's side, so anything she said wasn't an attack towards him.
In what seemed like eternity to the pegasus with mane of brown and pink, she chose to fly away now and wait with Tailwind until Sky felt better. She kicked the cloud a bit as she settled down near him and fixed her wings.
"Um..." Cosmos muttered before coughing. "You've got really good tricks, pal. I wish I knew a trick I could show you, but alas, I'm too wrapped up in my studies." Upon realising how stupid that sentence sounded, she immediately facehoofed. Idiot! That is not what you say to a pegasus who does awesome tricks!

Sky didn't recognize Tail Wind or Shinging Cosmos approaching, partly because he had his head down, but mainly he was too distraught to think about anything else. Even Princess Luna could have appeared and he probably wouldn't take heed.
He then heard Shining Cosmos mutter something, and Sky turned and gave her a look that he was not amused at what she said. He then turned back to his original sulking position, wondering if it was better to be alone than misunderstood.

Rainbow Dash took all her courage together and trotted up next to the crying pegasus. "Sky Rocket? I- I had no idea you... Look, I'm sorry. I'd like to be your friend. And... I'm sure they would, too." She pointed her hoof at Tailwind and the mare next to Sky Rocket. "It's just that I don't really know you yet and I thought you..." Finally, she found the words to convey what she wanted to tell the frustrated pegasus "You know what? Let's start with that; Getting to know each other. I guess we were off to a bit of a bad start..." She nervously scratched the back of her head with one hoof "How about we all just sit down and get to know each other a bit? It's the first step to friendship anyway!"
