The dappled pegasus pony stomped a hoof impatiently against a cloud. She'd gone up to Cloudsdale today for an assignment today from the weather planning ponies and... Nothing. Nada. Zip. For the third day on the trot, barely a cloud was to be planted in the sky,no whistling wind to be whipped up. Not even a light shower of lunch, or a drizzle at dinner. And definitely no soaking at supper.
And so, the mare had spent her day in the weather factory with the other cloud ponies, complaining loud and long to anypony who cared to listen for a minute. She'd specified the clouds she'd need and hung around the cloud inspectors all day, steely tail flicking away.
In the end, they'd thrown her out. She'd been getting under the hooves of every pony in the factory, and now she was wandering around Cloudsdale. "I can't believe there's no rain," Dappled Wings grumbled, "Darned ponies wanting sun."
Unhappy, the mare snorted, and kicked a cloud, frowning when her hoof hurt. "Rain is so much better." As she rounded a corner, she was staring down at the cloud, liable to bump into, well, anything.

Cloudfall lazily hovered along the fluffy streets, he still had some time to kill before having to check in to see if he would be needed at all for tonight's weather. He sighed out loud, "It has been a slow couple days...." He let that thought bounce around in his head for a moment, then smiled to himself, "Well, that's not all bad. More time to sight see." he chuckled lightly. He worked late shifts for the weather ponies, but on calm nights he would just relax and watch the night sky.
The dark pegasus let his mind wander, to think back to the beauties of Luna's night sky. How the stars danced across the deep, dark sea, or shot across the endless void. All while being guided by their pale mistress.
Cloudfall was too lost in thought that he didn't notice as another winged pony rounded a corner in front of him, who also wasn't watching where she was going. He bumped into her and, because he was hovering, spun over her and landed on the cloudwalk behind her. He blinked, confused as to what just happened, as he was jarred from his daydreaming. He looked behind him to see what he tripped over and saw a grey, spotted pegasus. He hopped up, "O-oh! S-sorry..." he said quickly, his wings folded back nervously and his head lowered, "I wasn't watching where I was going... Are you okay?"

A hoof smacked poor Dappled Wings right in the face. Right in the face. The stumped mare sat down abruptly, before she heard the crash behind her. Her steely tail twitched as she shuffled around quickly, to face the pegasus that had fallen over her. She was still stuck on one little thing though...
"My face..." Her slightly horrified voice was accompanied by a wide eyed blink. "This is almost as bad as not having any rain!" Swinging back to authoritative in tone, she climbed to her hooves. "In future you should! Watch where you're going, I mean!" Her wings swung out to allow her to levitate, before she eyed him up. "What were you doing here anyway, you look like you should be in the dark." Her hoof pointed at his cutie mark as she nodded, self-satisfactory. Yes, that'd tell him, she thought smugly, coming round here during the day! Of course, the pegasus would never realise that her comment would more than likely miss the mark by far and have little to no effect. But she wouldn't realise that.
Then her mind switched to clouds again. "Can you believe we won't have rain today?" Many ponies would pity the poor dark pegasus, though Dappled Wings certainly wasn't one of them. In fact, many would pity im because he was stuck talking to her now. "After a few days, you'd think the ponies in ponyville would want rain," she continued, feeling entirely righteous.

And moments like this reminded Cloudfall of the other reason why he liked working nights. He got to be alone, it was quiet, and there were no crazy ponies yelling at him. But then, he did just effectively kick her in the face. He shut his eyes and sighed inwardly as the grey mare did her little rant, letting it flow over him. He was used to most of what she was saying, after all this wasn't the first time he bumped into someone while not paying attention, or having jokes made about his colouring. So he sat on the clouds and let her finish.
Cloudfall reopened his eyes as the other pegasus suddenly changed topics and blinked at her a few times. "No rain today? Tonight as well?" he perked up a little. Maybe he would get another calm night to relax in. Things were looking up. He felt like he should answer her question, even if it did seem rhetorical,"We did just have that storm not long ago... They don't need too much rain." he started, but she did have a point, "But we should probably have one tomorrow, or the day after..." He glanced at her, but avoided eye contact.

Tilting her head, the dappled pegasus fluttered a little higher. "Well, you must be the night team, the day team had briefing long ago." Settling her hooves back on a cloud, she stomped a front one lightly. "Anyway! You heard what I said! They won't let us take even a single cloud out of the factory!" Her indignancy was no longer about the hoof to the face, but weather. "Not one tiny cirrus! Not a single wispy one, or anything else like it! We can't make mist or fog either!"
Leaning towards him, her wide eyes were riled and angry and she stepped closer. "It isn't fair! All those ponies will be baking hot down there! We need more clouds!" Her steely tail whipped back and forth in her anger, and it was only when the tip smacked against her skin that she startled, suddenly backing away and calming down. "We always need more rain! And clouds!"
Scuffing a hoof against the cloud, Dappled Wings complained. "And those darned weather ponies think we should have a heatwave!" Turning her attention back to the dark stallion, she blinked at him dully. "What were you saying again?" Her silvery eyes bored into the other pegasus, as she tried to catch his eyes.

Cloudfall continued to shrink back from the enraged Mare to the point where he was laying down on the clouds, with his tail wrapped around him, his ears back and his eyes wide. The spotted Pegasus towered over him, ranting away about her lack of clouds and rain. Cloudfall couldn't think of anything to say at all, this whole event completely took him by surprise. When he crashed into her, he had hopped it would have been a simple apology and he would be on his way, but instead he was stuck hear listening to troubled weather pony.
When she moved in closer, Cloudfall could only give a little squeak in return to her outraged statements. Luckily, she backed off and seemed to calm down some. He allowed himself to sit up and relax a little as well. The next thing surprised Cloud a little, she asked him an actual question.
"Um... there was a storm, and... uh..." he stuttered, trying to recall what he had been saying before. "Sorry about crashing into you...."

Swishing her tail, the mare stared blankly at him. She had been oblivious to his intimidated behaviour and was apparently surprised that he'd stutter like that. Stumped, she took another step back, and sat down. "There was no storm in the last couple of days..." She sounded puzzled, not realising what he meant. "If there was, I'd know!"
Suddenly, as soon as he mentioned crashing into her, the dappled pegasus' hoof flew up to the mark his hoof had left. With a dazed voice, she uttered, "Oh yeah. That." Her stare went vacant as she tried to figure out how to react. "Well, I guess it doesn't hurt anymore." Dropping onto her haunches, she stared at him some more. "You won't crash into me again, will you? If you will, you aren't forgiven."

Cloudfall's eyes went wide and he shook his head back and forth quickly, "N-no! Of course not..!" he said just as quickly, "I didn't even mean to bump into you this time. It... it was an accident. I swear!" he averted his gaze from the mare once more. She was staring at him, still staring at him. He fidgeted a little under her gaze and started thinking up possible ways to escape from the gray pegasus. If only it was darker, that would have made it easier.
"S-so, y-yeah... I'm really sorry, a-and I'll try to p-pay more attention to where I'm g-going..." he apologized once more, trying to appease and stop her from staring at him more.

Dangit, dangit, dangit. Rainbow Dash wasn't just late for work, she had practically slept through half of her shift - not that it was her mistake, she thought, that clouds had to be such comfortable beds. As she hurriedly flew through the roads of Cloudsdale, pegasus after pegasus blocked her way. I'm not getting anywhere like this... she thought to herself. I'm in a hurry! I should get the right of way! That was a great idea! She'd just bolt through the streets and make everyone jump aside! "Out of the way!" she shouted as she dashed through the streets with her head lowered. Everypony jolted out of her intended path as she had expected, and everything was going fine until she stumbled over something dark blue. For a split second she thought she was falling over a rock protruding from the ground, but a sharp pain in her face and the onset of her common sense that rocks weren't all too common inside of clouds reminded her that she more likely hit a pegasus sitting in the street for whatever reason and got awarded with a hoof to the head. Rainbow Dash made an involuntary frontflip and landed, chin first, on the - luckily very soft - road.

There was something to be said about Cloudsdale, it certainly made one remember how much more reassuring it was to have solid ground under ones feet. Sure, these clouds were stable for now but Fluttershy had never been able to feel quite as much at home as the other pegasi up here.
Trotting along on the roads rather than flying, Fluttershy tried not to think about what was beneath her hooves. Instead, she reminisced about an eagle nest she had just been visiting. The baby eagles had been so cute! She had barely been able to stand it. That had been just as the sun was breaking over the horizon, now it was a bit later in the morning, and the parent eagles had been off to feed. With time to spare, Fluttershy had had an idea to stroll through Cloudsdale on her way home.
She was regretting that decision a little bit, when something whizzed over her head. Fluttershy had a brief impression of a rainbow streak before she heard a familiar voice shouting "Out of the way!"
"Rainbow Dash?" Fluttershy turned to see her friend tumble into another poor pegasus. Forgetting her feelings of unease in an instant at the sight of her friend crashing, Fluttershy rushed over.
"Oh my! Are you all right!"

Rainbow Dash lifted her head out of the dent it had created in the road and turned her still hurting face towards Fluttershy's voice. "Yeah, I just-" In a moment she mentally recapped the events leading up to her situation and promptly bolted up straight onto her hooves. "Oh gosh, I'm late for work! They'll schedule me for cloudmaking overtime!" Just as she wanted to turn around and rush away, she noticed the dark blue bump she had stumbled over before, sitting on the floor in the form of a pegasus. "Oh, right... About that..." Her mouth shaped into a nervous smile, but her eyes rolled in annoyance. She simply didn't have time for this, she needed to get her daily cloudmaking quota at the weather factory, as much as she disliked that job.

The mare fluttered her wings and a few centimeters into the air. "Well! That's sorted then. You aren't to go round cra--" She was cut off by a streak of rainbow coloured mane and tail flipping over and around, landing flat out on the clouds. The spotted mare snickered at the crash. She hadn't been involved. It was fine. And payback! "Now you know how it feels to be crashed into!" Tossing her mane, she didn't even think to check if the other pegasi were alright.
Dappled Wings' interest piqued by the words 'cloud making', and she immediately landed beside the sky blue pony. "Cloud making?! Are they planning a storm soon? Are they making storm clouds? Aren't they just the best type of clouds, not like those white and wispy ones. Give me a good Culmulus over a Stratus any day!" Ignoring any responses the pegasus could make, she carried on. "The only good typeof cloud, is a rain cloud. Don't you agree?" Tilting her head expectantly at the mare, Dappled listened for the response now. When it suited her. Of course.

Cloudfall allowed himself a small smile. It looked like Dappled was about to let him leave. Finally, he would be allowed to continue on his way. He sat up straighter, nodding at the spotted pegasus when a sound caught his attention. He started to turn to look for the source, but then his world turned tie dye, then black.
He awoke a moment later with a groan and a sharp pain running through his head when he tried to sit up, "Oooow...." he whined, a lifting a hoof to hold his head, "What hit me....?" He glanced around a little, slowly, trying to find what hit him. There were ponies talking around him, loudly. The spotted one and a blue and rainbow one mainly. There was a quieter yellow one off to the side a little. Wait, rainbow? He looked up at Rainbow Dash. He had heard a lot about her. Best young flier, only pony ever to do a Sonic Rainboom, and his daytime counterpart for watching Ponyville's skies. But even as cool as she sounded, he had to frown at her now, "...I'm not a 'that'..." he muttered.

Things seemed to be taking a turn for the chaotic. Rainbow Dash was clearly itching to get somewhere... work apparently, and then the spotted pegasus started happily chattering about how great rain clouds were.
It's nice that she's so passionate, Fluttershy thought, but I'm not sure that I understand her enthusiasm.
Noting that the other strange pegasus was on the ground and seemed a little worse for the wear... and was rather miffed at Rainbow Dash's somewhat unsympathetic apology, Fluttershy bit the bullet and spoke to him.
"I'm sure Rainbow Dash didn't mean to crash into you- she's a very good flier normally- and I don't think she meant to call you a that..." She tried speaking up, but even then, her words were only barely audible. Why was it so hard to speak to strange ponies?

Rainbow Dash took a step back from the rambling pegasus. She had already forgotten about apologizing to the dark blue pony she crashed into and was trying to figure out the fastest way to get rid of the noisy grey one. "Uh, yeah, sure, rainclouds are... really... cool and all. No idea about the weather this week though, I don't really read the work plans. Or look at them." But if there is a storm scheduled anytime soon, I won't get any time off from the factory to practice my moves...
