FROZEN FERAL
The monster, hearing the new threat long before arriving it, whirled mid air, landing a powerful bite right on Ruby's back, freezing her spine, and ferociously throwing her aside. Ruby's frozen spine would definitely impair her movements, and the bite wound itself was quite the trouble. The monster turned to Corsair once more, snarling at him.
It already had a prey, it didn't matter if Corsair stayed or left anymore. But until the area was clear of possible intruders, the monster would keep its guard.

"I told her to leave..." Corsair mumbled under his breath. He spun around and landed, sliding along the dirt several feet as he came to a halt. He took flight again, keeping a line of trees between himself and the feral, plus several feet of height above it; Corsair sped to Ruby's side, not caring what she was anymore so much as how hurt she was now. Corsair weighed his options as quickly as he could:
Fight off the monster. That was a valid solution. No monster: no problem. His armor would at least partially protect him. What if it went after Ruby now, though? He didn't really know her... No, that wasn't an option.
He could try to fly, carrying her. She was probably light enough that he'd manage to get off the ground at least slightly, but he doubted he could move fast enough to get away from the feral before it was ready to attack again.
Corsair didn't even let himself consider leaving her behind. She had come back to help him despite their battle. He leaned down and nudged his snout under Ruby until her body was resting against his neck. He stood up slowly and carefully opened his wings. Ruby was now cradled on his back, his armored wings on either side of her for protection, and to keep her from falling. He tested his wounded leg, setting it on the ground and adjusting his weight evenly on all four hooves. It stung, but he could maintain his stance without any extra stress. He leaned down once more and picked up her dagger in his mouth, deciding he should have a weapon if his wings were now Ruby's shield.
Not wanted to wait long enough for the feral to attack again, Corsair started to trot toward Ponyville. Now sure that Ruby was secure on his back, he turned his trot into a fierce gallop, as fast as his injury would let him move. He'd seen the beast bite her back; he knew this was serious. The feral could wait, or be fought by another pony group - Ruby couldn't wait. She needed medical aid.
He shifted the dagger to the corner of his mouth and bit the handle hard with his teeth. "Hey! Can you hear me? Stay with me. I'm getting you out of here," Corsair said, his voice shaking from the running.

She had seen true danger, but the utter fear and helplessness Ruby felt in that moment was an entirely new concept to her. Hiding? Fighting? Fleeing? All impossible. Frozen and injured in the face of the beast, the mare had been left with not a single viable option. Emotions of panic she never felt before began to rise up within her. In just seconds, Ruby had lost all consciousness.
Her tired eyes soon awoke upon a familiar suit of armor. Though her body had been numb from the Frozen Feral's bite, she still feel the cold steel beneath her rising up and down in motion. She had been rescued by the pegasus that fought her.
Ruby could hear the pegasus saying something, failing to make out his exact words in her present condition. But his exact words were of little very importance to her. In that moment, she was simply happy to have been saved.
"You... you actually came back..." the mare mumbled to the pegasus before fainting once again.

FROZEN FERAL
The monster gave chase, its meal hijacked by the meddling pegasus. It will feast tonight, it did not matter on who. As it leapt one final leap to grab the pegasus with its claws, it was suddenly snatched in the air. Whirling around to face the new threat, it was met with a wall of searing flame, as the green dragon cooked its meal, flying back towards its recently robbed cave, uncaring towards the two, non gem carrying ponies fleeing the scene.

Corsair looked back toward Ruby momentarily and also took the time to see how close the feral was to their position. His body tried to instinctively freeze when he saw the dragon, but he willed himself forward, keeping an even pacing in his gallop and trying his best not to knock Ruby off of his back. "You came back, too," he responded to the pony that rested across his back. "Just returning the favor." His concern grew as she lost consciousness again. He turned and headed in a straight line for the edge of Everfree, where it met the borders of Ponyville. They had been incredibly lucky to have survived, though Corsair hated now owing his life to a dragon. He made a mental note to find Ranger and explain how close the creature had been to the border of the forest. Something would have to be done about the monsters to keep the peace. But that could wait for later; Ruby was now Corsair's only concern as the dragon whisked the feral away and the cover of the trees made him feel more certain that it would not return for the ponies. Ruby's added weight made Corsair's leg burn painfully with each stride in his gallop, but he refused to slow down until he had, at least, reached Ponyville. Corsair soon burst through the trees and into the outskirts of town. He stopped and looked back to calm his fears that they might have been followed by something even worse. Seeing nothing but darkness, he started galloping through fields, toward Ponyville's more populated areas. He needed to find a hospital, and hoped the doctor was still there so late at night. He didn't quite know where to go, as he was still new to the area, but he knew he could find it, either by asking someone or searching.
