"Excellent," The Zebracorn said jubilantly, "That was a binding contract by the way. So no backsies!" He said sing song, producing a few magical streamers from his horn which vanished after shooting out in the air.
"So what I really need is a personal attendant and or test subject. Which basically means you're gonna really have to WORK your debt off. Don't worry though, there might be great side effects, like increased strength," He flexed a hoof, "Toughness," He put on a tough pose, "Resistance to poisons and venoms," One of his water golems turned into a water snake and bit the zebracorn's leg. "Of course, there might be other, negative side effects too. Not death or anything, but you know, hair and eye changes in texture and color, thought pattern scrambling, I've even seen gender changes, though to be fair that wasn't my potion or spell that made that happen. In short, keep in mind your mind and body might suffer some alterations, usually of the more aesthetic nature, but you never know. Oh well, you already agreed so its a moot point really."
He hopped around and began throwing more stuff in the cauldron. "Finally my own servant, oh things are going to be so much easier now!"

Instantly he regretted everything as his eye twitched looking at the Zebracorn then continued to stare forward as his head slammed into the table his eyes still twitching. He listened to the cons and pros of being Watermark's assistant or test subject and rose his head with a sigh. Well he did ask for it and even if he was regretting it all right now he was stuck in this agreement. He looked at the Zebracorn unamused as he was jubilant as he watched him.
Still kicking himself he thought that at least they would only be aesthitic changes if it did come done to gender change then he would have the rights to beat the Zebracorn up. However Watermark was still in his little fantasy Nul made up a note and crumpled it throwing it at the zebracorn's head "Yea I get the point now, now our agreement?" the note said "And how long would i be indebted to you?"

"Oh, well, as long as you still want to use your voice of course. Of course, I'm no meanie, after your 'initiation period' I'll let you go and only call you back when I REALLY need you." He said. "And don't give me that look, we'll have lots of fun together." The Zebracorn continued to brew whatever it was he was trying to make, smiling all the while.
"It'll probably take me a few days to work out a counter to your situation, so in the meanwhile feel free to start by cleaning the floors. If you get tired of that, let me know, I have more fun stuff you could do. I'll be here if you need me." He flashed him another grin, "Oh and wear this." He said, tossing him a pin with his face on it, "That way people will know you're working for me and won't hassle you."

He caught the pin inn the claw gauntlet as he looked at it his eyes still twitching at the pin. He felt like he was being mocked some how and he knew the guards would be giggling behind his back. Looking at Watermark he growled at a golem that came too close and went grabbing a broom. Using his magic he began to clean. At first he started with the floors but making it bare of any dust or trash he began to work on the cobwebs in the ceiling.
When he saw a horrible mutated spider that was just minding its own business he put it in a jar and poked a hole in the far for it to breathe then finished the ceiling.
As the hours passed Nul had managed to clean the whole base top to bottom and with a sigh he threw the last of the trash out and sat down for a moment closing his eyes. The pin had been attached to his cloak and he was resting reflecting on the terrible mistake he had made today.

"Tough day kid?" The blacksmith woman asked, carrying some suits of armor and some weapons into the armory, arranging them neatly on racks.
"Gotta pony up, you're not a filly are you?" She asked, continuing her work.
She noticed his pin and smiled to herself, "So you're Watermark's new helper huh? Lucky bastard." She continued to arrange the pieces in the armory, which was far too well stocked for such a small village. Which makes one wonder if Watermark was expecting more ponies to move in here any time soon.
Of course, the refugees, some might rather move to somewhere safer than Ponyville after all that's happened there. Looks like Watermark was counting on it.

He turned to the blacksmith woman listening to her and chuckled as he produced a note "We'll I'm just realizing the mistake I made today" his head perked up and he looked at her and revised his note "Wait lucky" the note ended and he was raising a brow at her words. In what way was that lucky for him to be this crazy pony's assistant.
He looked at her stacking the armor as the thought had crossed his mind. Ponyville wasn't as safe as many ponies had originally thought so he kinda figured the refugees from the war would migrate someplace else if not Ponyville. He produced a new note and it posed a simple question "Hey your a blacksmith? Could you take a look at these" he said as he used his magic to widened the bracers on his wrist and extended them into the claws. They looked worn and well used as he held them to her.

"Sorry Kid, I got a quota to meet and I'm nowhere near it. Watermark wants some heavy armor for his golems and I got my hooves full." She finished stacking the items on the racks and sighed.
"Man, Watermark really turned this place around let me tell you. Probably the safest place there is right now." She stretched and popped her joints loudly. "Just stay on his good side kid, he'll take care of ya, trust me, bizarre though they may get, most of his requests have a reason. Most of them, others are just for fun." She smirks and chuckles to herself.
"When you're done resting feel free to come clean the forge, it's filthy and I just can't spare the time to clean it up."

He let out a disappointed sigh, he would get a blacksmith to fix them up sooner or later as he listened to her speak about Watermark. All his request had reasons, he had thought this absurd but he himself had only just met the zebracorn. With a sigh he rose himself up and made his way to the forge walking with a tiered and annoyed look. Coming to the forge he opened the door and his eye twitched, it wasnt filthy it was a mess.
With a groan he set out to work, working around the mare who had asked him to help clean the forge. His bracers clinked as he worked. As he worked he looked over the quality of the weapons and armors that had been made. These had been commissioned by Watermark? It looked like he was raising a whole new army of anything.

The scarred mare continued to work around Nul, now hammering out a massive steel plate, humming a tune to herself.
The work was horrible, the vast amounts of dirt, metal shavings, coal and filth that littered the forge, in addition to the other scrap and debris made Nul's back ache terribly, by the time he was done he was completely exhausted.
A little water golem snuck up on him and tugged at his leg, meaning for him to follow, so he didn't even have time to rest after the grueling labor.

Exhausted he had just sat down for a moments rest when the golem had appeared. With a groan he got back up and bid the blacksmith goodbye following the golem swaying a little in exhuastion. Opening the door to the building he swayed in and sat down with a sigh closing his eyes for a moment but shot them open as he was about to fall asleep.
He looked at the room a little more trying to see what the golem wanted him for or rather what Watermark needed him for.

Some golems hurriedly brought him a large canister of oil and directed him at the suits of armor on racks in the armory. Of course, he had to now oil all of the suits of armor in the armory... of course...
As he worked, the sun began to set outside, the work was relentless, mostly because Watermark's golems had no mercy and whenever he'd stop even for a moment they'd whip him right back into it. It went on for hours, with the water golems breathing over his shoulder at all times. They were not gonna let him sit down on the job, that much was clear.
The oil itself was nothing like Nul's seen before and apparently was a concoction by Watermark himself. It was smooth and always produced a fine even coat on the armor. His horn's tingling also indicated it had magical ingredients as well. Perhaps to improve the protection the suits offered? Or increase durability? Could havebeen both really.

He looked at the oil and golems with a slight growl as he got up, he was no strange to hard work but this was just ridiculous. Nonetheless he got up and began to polish the armor and weapons, working well after sundown his body ached and he had trouble keeping his eyes open. The weapons came next as he worked on those as well ignoring the golems under hoof. It eventually came to the point where he was too exhausted to use magic and began to hoof polish the armor and weapons. However eventually he was finished applying the magical oil to the armor and weapons.
With a sigh he sat the canister aside and put a lid on it. Ignoring any of the golems protest he made his way to the sleeping quarters. Inside there were other ponies sleeping, guards of the city. Looking about he found a opened bed. Setting his cloak on the bed post he fell in and closed his eyes letting sleep overtake him.

Nul woke up late that night with a water golem tugging on his dangling hoof. After failing to make the unicorn move the golem stopped to call some of its buddies, they banded together into a larger golem and *thunk* pulled him off the bed by his rear hoof, dragging him into the unknown.
The golems dragged him outside of the keep, which was quite cold, Nul could see the guard golems look down on him as the water golems dragged him off the path and towards a quaint little house at the edge of the town. No protests or resistance was tolerated and the medium sized golem did not seem ready to let Nul go at all before they reached their destination, not even to let him walk.
The house's door opened by itself for the golem, and Nul was dragged inside, banging his head against the wooden deck unceremoniously and then down a flight of steps into the basement. Newly caused headache aside, the room was completely empty. At least it looked that way. But when Nul looked up at the ceiling, he could see Watermark staring at him, upside down, on the ceiling, next to a big cauldron and alchemic table.
"Why are you upside down?" Watermark asked him and at once, the room's gravity seemed to have flipped, with Nul finding himself on the ceiling and Watermark on the floor. The unicorn fell right into a stack of ingrediant bags.
"Oh right, I forgot to disable my protective spells. Ah well, hey, buddy good to see you again. I heard you did some bang up job at the keep yesterday and thought I would reward you!"

As soon as Nul was woken up he gave a low growl but then a gasp of surprise as he was forced off the bed and dragged away. He tried to struggle as best as he could but to no avail and outside he just shivered and an notion of being sleepy vanished. He was dragged on the ground for what seemed like hours to him and he made a grumble, it wasn't like he had already taken a bath already. Grumbling aside and annoyed he managed to flip on his back so his belly was able to not take the brunt of the dragging. Looking at where he was being dragged to he just gave a loud groan.
His head hit the deck and he thought he saw stars, however when the stairs came he could see stars and probable the sun. He rubbed his head carefully already feeling the large bump on his head as he looked around and saw nothing. He then tilted his head to look up. Hearing Watermark talk, his eye twitched as he fell down to the actual ground. Lucky his landing was cushioned which he thanked his luck for. Standing up and shooting him a dark look he walked over to him. "What is this reward and he'd better not treat me like a dog" he thought

Watermark grinned at him in a very unsettling way, "Well first thing is to toughen you up a bit. I mean, don't get me wrong, you're tasty looking, but if you're gonna help out you need some macho in you. I was able to create a certain concoction with Terragon blood that should help make you just a tiny bit more hardy and after the big battle, I got that by the box-load, so I've been experimenting and wasted it all. HOWEVER." He holds up a flask, "This last batch I gave to the Shield Walls, but I have one left over. Just for you." He said, floating a vial over towards Nul.
"Drink this and you'll be permanently enhanced, that means, forever. It's not that much of a difference, but it might just save your life some day. What do you think?" He asked, still not giving Nul the vial, but rather floating it in the air in front of him. The refinements Watermark made to the formula gave the potion a pleasing blue color with a somewhat purplish tint. It bubbled softly in the vial and steamed with a pleasant if somewhat coppery aroma. It was definitely the clearest potion Nul ever did see, one of the hallmarks of a master alchemist.
Watermark was grinning at him, waiting for his answer of whether or not he wanted it, still holding on to the vial with his magic.
