"If you really want meat or protein that bad, I'm sure we can find something for you." He winked, "Also I wouldn't quite agree, some mares around here can kick serious flank. Though I can't say I would find it disagreeable to see if you could take them on, nothing's ever wrong with some female on female action."
He cracked his neck, "I'm thinking I could give you a workout, I promise a healthy dose of protein at the end. Then you can go and rest before they call you for questioning too? Also your great cousin is here, maybe you two should catch up after."

The griffoness grinned after Starling suggested a brawl with the mares, he was such a colt. "Find the right mare and you might get to see that. Might." She coyly teased.
Gilda couldn't help but roll her eyes at Starlings suggestion, the stallion was a insatiable fitness freak - not that she terribly minded it but, sometimes it felt inappropriate. Though, she could certainly use some exercise and, most importantly, a distraction. "Oh, I bet you could." She said as she poked Starling's side with a wing tip. "But you still think you can keep up with me? I won't hold back, not like last time." She suggested with a grin, flicking her talons against one another both in a tease and threat.
Though after she processed what Starling had said a 'great cousin', she slammed her talon down against the floor, "That uptight wad is here? Don't make me gag, last griffon I want to see right now." She then stood, bumping into Starling as she did. "So workout time?"
A significant time later, Gilda emerged from the secluded mansion appearing strained and tired. She quickly fixed her feathers, making herself moderately presentable to the public. Once finished, to kicked off the ground and took the air, once more scanning the ground for a particular pony. She circled the perimeter a few times, settling over the Medical Pavilion after a few other locations failed to turn up any signs of Red Charge. After speaking with Starling, and deciding she's not going to be chicken about this whole 'vision' thing and just go straight to the source. Not like she really cared she hurt somepony's feelings, long as they didn't fry her with their magic or try to stomp her out with hooves, she would be golden. Least she was in good with Mrs. Rainlock, hopefully her father respected that.
She descended into a soft hover over the Pavilion, and using her talons around her beak to radiate her voice, she called, "Red Charge! Hey, anypony see Red Charge around here. You there-" She asked as she pointed to a nurse mare below. "See Red Charge around here, we got something to discuss." She looked around as she scanned the crowd. "Hey, Big Red, it's Gilda! Need to speak with you, bit important. It's about your mom!" She hoped, between her squawking and that proclamation, would grab his attention if he happened to be there somewhere.

"Ey! Cut the racket! There's patients sleeping here!" A royal guard called, waving a hoof at the Griffon. "No yelling near hospitals or... medical tents!" A couple of ponies stopped to observe what was going on and a couple of nurses immediately went out of the tent shushing the guard.
Red Charge poked his head out of the second story of the pavilion and craned his neck to look up at the griffon. "Ms. Gilda?" He asked simply.

Gilda lit-up, pleased with herself. Nothing like being a loud pest to get some attention from a crowd, especially uptight ponies. She darted over to Red Charge and descended down to meet with him, fluttering just outside and eye level with the stallion.
"Good, was about to give up. Have someplace private to speak? Think I know something you may want to hear." The griffon inquired, "And for the love- drop the 'Ms.' bit, Gilda is fine. Making me sound old or something." She protested.

"Actually Mrs. Gilda would make you sound old. Ms. Is common for young, unmarried ladies." Red Charge corrected her, "I'll be right down." He said, disappearing inside and reappearing on ground level moments later. He led her down the street to a secluded corner on the Canterlot cliffside.
"What is it?" The Royal Advisor asked, "You said something about my mother, but I'm not sure whether you were just doing that to get attention or not."

Gilda rolled her eyes, technicalities were not her forte and she was in no mood to argue them. Either way, in her opinion, Gilda was perfectly suitable. She waited impatiently for Red to reemerge and followed him towards the spot by the cliffside. She glanced around once as she checked for any curious ears on them - ponies were such gossips.
She then landed, catching herself from a slight pain in her hip. "Yea, a little bit of both. Anyway, ok, do you know about the Eye of Cassius?" Pointing to her off-colored eye, she then went onto explain the same thing she had to Starling, about the visions before starting on what she brought him here for. "Did Destrier ever tell you what exactly happened to your mother back in the day?" She asked coyly, as if trying to judge the best course to ask this and her subsequent questions.

"Nothing much other than it was a powerful Equiterian artifact. According to several scripts possessing it allows for true sight, but other than that it's mostly the typical mystical abilities that categorize legends of the Equiterian Era." Red Charge answered briefly.
"My mother?" Red Charge asked, "She died in the Dragon Wars. Destrier adopted me after. She was a soldier in the same squad as my father and they were ambushed." He answered, again briefly, "Quite a personal question. I suppose you have a reason to ask?"

"Yeah... I was afraid you'd say that." She skittishly replied coupled with an exacerbated sigh. She hemmed and hawed to herself, figuring how to ask this next part - right now, she thought, she must appear to be slightly crazy. "So, you and Luna's Moonbird? Ever notice the thing acting... odd around you? Dunno, maybe really clingy? Something like that, ever, perhaps?"
She had clearly begun to grow agitated with herself, fidgety in her toes and tail, wings shuffling as she stood before him. What she intended to ask was clearly bothering her and she was not subtle in showing it. "What... I'm trying to say is... I think your mother might not have died in the ambush, not exactly." She grimaced as she stumbled and strained to speak. "My eye, may have, not saying it's true, showed me something. Something bad."

"And you think that has something to do with the Moonbird?" Red Charge asked, eyebrows rising. His posture became somewhat tense, unsure what Gilda was going for here.

Gilda ground her beak together, if Red was tense from this conversation, Gilda was an uptight statue compared to her normal cavalier attitude about most everything under Celestia's sun.
The griffon skirted back a step from Red, afraid how he might react to what she was about to say next. "Ok, how to say this..." She was bemused, trying to wrap her head around her next words. She had run the thought through her mind a few times while searching for Red but, now with him before her, she found herself floundering. "I, uh, oh ITHINKTHEMOONBIRDISYOURMOM." She shot out like a cannon barrage. When she caught her breath, and tried to relax, she explained, "I heard Destrier and your mom after the ambush. She was injured badly but, alive. There were other ponies there, in a pyre, dying I think from the sounds. He watched, she talked about you, Destrier asked questions. He said he'd take you in. Then, 'The King and Queen call upon you one last time for their service. Forgive me'," She reiterated in her best impression of Destrier's voice she could manage. "Then screams, sounds of magic, then silence." She took a deep breath, "Right before that vision, I had another, with the Golem Maker and Destrier, they were talking about a living golem for a sick Princess Luna and 'the price' it would cost to make."
She skirted a few more paces back as she finished, tense, watching Red for any sudden movements. She half expected to be struck for this accusation, "I'm sorry, I can't prove it but, I had to get it off my chest."

"So you are saying the Moonbird is akin to your great uncle Severus? A soul bound to a golem? Only where Severus can talk, the Moonbird cannot?" Red asked curiously. The change in his expression was clear, but it was not anger she saw in him.
"You shouldn't be afraid, I'm no young bronco." Red Charge said. "I am not angry with Destrier. He took me in, raised me like I was his own. I'm sad for him. You'd have to have known him to know how he despised hurting others. He certainly had his fair share of that in the Equiterian Empire, it was a large part of the reason he left it."
"It was a different time." He explained to Gilda, "Equestria was facing an existential crisis. The well being of the kingdom took precedence over the life of any pony. I suppose, that does explain some things." He said, looking down at his hooves. "I suppose I must relay this to the Princess. After the war. She has enough on her mind right now. Thank you Gilda, I appreciate that it wasn't easy coming forwards with this information."
He hesitated for a moment, "Is there... is there anything else you've seen?"

Gilda finally let herself breathe once more, relieved he was as as calm and collected as he was. Suppose after all the time he's been alive, you aren't as easily angered or prone outbursts. She was abundantly grateful for that, though she cursed herself for not factoring that as a possible outcome. She figured at best he'd storm off or tell her off, maybe threaten to institutionalize her.
"Yea, maybe like that. I really don't understand all that stuff or how it works." She said, feeling a little silly for being so tense about this, "And, if it means anything, your mom's last words and thoughts were about you." She awkwardly scratched the feathers on the back of her head, uncomfortable about this sentimental stuff.
She took another calm breath, "Yeah, lot's of things with Dreadwing, Silverback, Destrier and Adversary." She then went into explaining some few highlights about her visions she has had over the last few weeks. The battle with the Changelings and the Equiterians, the Golem army at the Northern Barrens, even the little secret about Silverback she had been keeping from Bowie. Ending with the the hero's deaths at the maw and claws of Adversary. It was a short version, not that she could probably articulate everything she saw and heard and she figured Red Charge would only be moderately interested in old history after what she had just revealed and, perhaps, it wasn't really important but, least it may add facticity to what she had said about Red Charge's mother.
"That's about the short of it."

Red Charge listened intently to what Gilda was saying. He nodded at some points and seemed very curious at others. He interrupted her with questions now and then to try and clarify the image. When she told of Destrier and Silverback's Equiterian adventures Red Charge seemed most interested. Asking about the tiniest of details. He seemed very interested that Silverback, Destrier and Dreadwing knew each other before Equestria was founded.
"These are astounding discoveries. Very significant ones too. So far it's been assumed that the Equiterian Infantry was composed entirely of golems and undead. Now you say it was composed of Diamond Dogs? What an incredible discovery. This will change the history books." He said, "I'll have to send a message to Gale about this." the Royal Advisor made a mental note to do so as soon as possible.
"But hearing about it is not enough Gilda, I would like... if possible, can I see it? There's a spell that will allow me to see those visions from your memory, much like you saw them. This is important, I can help you understand. I will not go anywhere other than where you allow me."

Gilda withdrew herself back a step from Red Charge, both skeptical and a little perplexed by this revelation he had just uttered. The notion also filled her with an unsettled twist in her stomach, knowing that unicorn magic was likely to leave her writhed with pain and nausea, likely a mess for an hour or two; she had been unsure why the Eye hadn't continually caused her such suffering, as it had to be magic, though perhaps, she figured the powerful headaches were the side-effect.
”Here, now? Yea, I dunno about that.” She motioned with her talons a 'no', ”I'm not big on being some test-rat for weird unicorn magic, specially when it involves my head; sounds like a ticket to Vomitville for me.” Then her aghast expression fell away to a more contemplative one, as she weighed the idea of finally making some sense of what is going on with her eye and the visions. There could be some benefit to all this, besides, she considered herself a tough bird, what was a little nausea to someone like her? Nothing, that's what. ”But, you think it can do something to sort out the mess in my head; and isn't some weird unicorn dating game?” She accused with a single out-stretched talon, ”My personal memories are my own, understand. You probably couldn't handle them, would blow your pony brain.” She refuted proudly. ”So... if we're doing this, what do I need to do?”
