The drake could not keep ahead of the dragon, finding itself sat upon, its tail rendered immobilized by the dragon's powerful jaw. It only had time to glance back at the enraged dragon before Sylvia's breath vaporized the beast till not but smoke and carbon were left to be caught in the wind. With the last one dead, the skies appeared, once again, clear. None of the drakes that had attacked were alive to call for reinforcements, nor could the dragon sense any waiting for another opportune moment to attack.
Back on the ground, some of the foals had scampered from their carts to watch the aerial show, cheering on Syliva, while the adults were quickly collecting some more of the things they had lost. Some of the stallions had taken it upon themselves to make sure the bodies of the fallen drakes were, in-fact, dead. Beating the corpses with hooves and iron skillets, the ponies were terribly ruthless – releasing the stress of the war and displacement with a few crude whacks with pans and their own hooves.

Sylvia watched as the drake fell to the ground and she circled back, her wings straining to keep her aloft as she began to glide towards the safety of the earth below. Her claws met the grass and she folded her wounded wings over her back, taking a few breaths to calm down. She watched as the ponies seemed occupied with making sure the drakes were dead, and a smile came to her face. They sure were brave when whatever was attacking them wasn't moving anymore.
She sniffed the air. The charred drake that had fallen nearby smelled awfully like chicken. Her mouth watered, and she contemplated eating it, but was afraid to frighten the ponies even more. With as much self control as she could muster, she crawled towards the caravan, picking up a few more items and holding them out once more.
"I'm sorry once more for startling you. I promise I won't harm any of you ponies. You should be on your way, though. This place obviously isn't safe. I've never seen creatures like these before." She kicked the nearest drake with her hind claw rather awkwardly.

The ponies were still skittish about Sylvia, but no longer terrified of being eaten after she saved them from a pack of drakes. The foals, on the other hoof, were rather ecstatic to be this close to a dragon – especially now they weren't afraid of being eaten. A group of them kept circling around Sylvia, looking her over as only children can obnoxiously do so. A mare and stallion kept trying to corral them but were having trouble getting their attention.
The maroon stallion from earlier approached Sylvia and accepted the odd assortment of things from her, passing them to the others. "It's alright. We... uh, never expected to see a dragon and a friendly one too.” Said the maroon stallion, gratefully. When Sylvia mentioned she had no idea about the drakes, it struck him curious as he tilted his head and cocked an ear up, "Really? Been sleeping or something? Those are drakes, the sky has been full of them since the invasion. Their numbers have thinned-out some recently, we figured it was our chance to make a break for it. You see, the other ponies and I are all refugees from Fillydelphia, on our way back. The army just pushed the diamond dogs out and we're hoping to get back on with our lives – pick up the pieces, ya'know. Though perhaps bit too eager to get back,” He said with a gulp, glancing up at the sky. ”Thank you for getting rid of those drakes, we'd been avoiding them pretty well up until now. Suppose with you in the area, they'd think twice now before starting something. Where you heading anyway, not much back there now that Canterlot has been destroyed.”

"Not really sleeping. I've lived in a cave most of my life, though." Sylvia stated nervously, shuffling on all four claws. "I have heard there was some sort of war going on, but I didn't quite catch a lot of the details."
She continued to listen, genuinely curious about these ponies. Though she had caught glimpses of them before, and heard about them from the griffons, she never had been this close to one before, let alone a whole group of them. "It's not a problem. They attacked me first, and I wasn't going to let them terrorize your group. You all don't deserve to be eaten, that's for sure." With a flick of her tail on her paws, she raised a scaly brow, "As for where I'm going, I'm not quite sure. I was just going to see where the wind took me. I was just at-" She clamped her jaws shut. The less she spoke about the strange group of griffons she was with, the better, "I had just seen some Kelpies before after leaving my home. Other than that, I've been exploring, trying to learn more about the world."

The stallion nodded to Sylvia's explanation, it was as good as any excuse for a dragon. Far the ponies knew, with the exception of a very few baby dragons, they were a reclusive bunch. Not likely to concern themselves with matters of pony or griffon.
”Well no better time to learn about the world than when it's at its worst – I suppose.” Said the stallion, ”Anyway, we be best getting onto Fillydelphia while the going is good. Don't know when more drakes may come, or some stray Diamond Dogs. Name's Loose Brick, by the way, and this is the rest of the Brick and Stone family clan.” He said, motioning with a hoof to the caravan. Now that Sylvia would have a chance to notice, the ponies all did seem to share similar cutie-marks, mostly related to stone-work, masonry, and like the crumbled brick wall on Loose Brick's flank, bricks. ”If you happen by Fillydelphia sometime, find our workshops – eh just look for the reddish smoke from the kilns. Can't miss it. We'll be sure to welcome you, miss... 'fraid I never caught your name.”

"Sylvia." She stated, bowing her head in respect to the group of ponies, "And I'm pleased to meet you all as well. I'm sorry for scaring you earlier. I hope that we may meet again. I'm not sure how well your city will take to a dragon visiting, but perhaps I will stop by sometime in the future." With a wave of her wing, she stated, "Have save travels, Loose Brick and clan."
She turned away from them and waited for the group to get a good distance away before she carved out two of the cooked legs on one of the creatures, sniffing it curiously and wondering if it were indeed edible. She would find out soon as she held the drumsticks in her claws and took off into the air, deciding to eat and fly as she tore a piece of the meat from the bone and started to chew it curiously. It was quite amazing, really. A bit tough, but it tasted a lot like chicken.
"Fascinating." She murmured as she licked her chops, keeping high in the air and scanning the skies for any signs of more of the creatures. She was amazed she managed to fight so many of them off, and didn't wish to be ambushed again. "What kind of state is this world in where so many ponies are cast from their homes? They mentioned Diamond Dogs." She murmured, knowing full well the relationship that Diamond dogs and Dragons have had in the past. She angled her wings in order to fly above the caravan, keeping a close eye on them as they walked below. They were certainly a cowardly lot, so she figured if she would give them protection, they would make it safely to their destination. Perhaps she could learn more of their culture? The thought of it made her excited and there was a new spring to her wingbeats as she began to glide among the clouds.
