Sharp's reinforcements turning out to be changelings was a massive relief. What with the makeup of forces on either side, I was pretty solidly doubting Equestria's capability in such a conventional military confrontation, pitting forces directly against one another on a literal battlefield. Plus, if the ground war goes well, that means more attention can be given to the sudden appearance of Core Hounds at Hydra's position. Not much to say on Celestia, other than it's great to see her again after so long and thumbs up on Spike making the villain eat their words in record time. Hopefully she'll wake up in time to help against the Adversary. Three princesses plus Red versus this legendary dragon of yore would make for one monumental brawl. I wouldn't put it past him to burn the Red Plains and both sides' forces to cinders first, though. Wanton destruction is a recurring theme for the big bads on CD.
I assume once the jig was up with the changelings that the Equestrians charged right in, leveraging their full force against the now scattered and off-balance forces of Sharp. I do have one question though, when was the changeling reveal in relation to the rest of the battle? Like, is the griffon fleet engaging the drakes and Firebird as this is going on? Have the events in the strike team threads not yet begun, going off the fact that we could hear the battle from where our thread was taking place, and in this plot post it hasn't exactly started yet?

House Sparkle badass family tag-team time! Finally they get their due, no surprise that vast magical prowess and power runs in the family. With Twilight being the quintessential canon character, I'm just really glad we're seeing her again. The Mane 6 and every other interesting character we know and love from the show still exist in this universe, and it's great to see their own stories not just falling by the wayside. I feel like I'm forgetting some familial connection what was mentioned years ago, like with Trixie.
Core Hounds suck. I mean, they really suck, especially since now they've got some sense of self preservation. Which I'm actually wondering why they have in the first place? They're cursed to endure and fight forever, right? Just like the Oathbreakers from LotR. You'd find reason behind their suicidal charges and reckless advances- every armor broken means another dog freed from their living death. So why now, of all times, do they choose to start acting like they care about casualties? Something's fishy, and if they end up not engaging Sharp and his dogs with equal hostility, then it'll get a whole lot fishier.
Also thank you for elucidating the timing of events. Love seeing how things fit together and reading the results of player actions impacting the broader plot posts.

I agree with Selenia whenever an attitude changes something is going on or they are planning something, however I can kinda see why as they are feeling like that way now, they maybe realizing that their people are on the losing end and with the weaknesses exposed it may make them more desperate. In the long run I see alot of Diamond Dog casualties probable to the point of near extinction. Another thing is how are those who were not aware of Celestia's situation will react to her return after they save her

Well let's see how they get out of this one. That is an enemy of epic proportions and most likely equally strong. Can they even manage a foe such as this? Or is it going to be ancient artefacts to the rescue? The scale is truly massive. Makes one feel rather insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Of course we have seen that actions matter, but pitched against such a monster, what little ground we gained is useless compared to the absurd might of The Adversary.

>It's not actually the Adversary cucked hard
Now that that's settled and the dream team of the CD universe's resident badasses (barring celestia) is assembled and ready to go, I guess it's time to fight an eons old dragon with power rivaling that of a god. Just another regular thursday, I'm at the edge of my seat.
And remember, it's always been the Equiterians' fault.

So the truth finally comes tumbling out, about time it was revealed how it interconnected and went down back in the day. I mean, I knew, but figured you losers couldn't have handle it. You ponies are fickle, easily frightened creatures, after all, fainting like goats every time a flower get's its stem broke, 'The horror!'.
Guess it's gonna be down to me to beat the ever-loving scales out of this overgrown gecko - annnd I suppose the others can have a whack or two at it... whatever. He might be gigantic, all powerful, and beyond the scope of anything imaginable since the eons, but maybe he'll eat the Blue-Annoying-One so I won't have to listen to her blabber on in the third-person anymore. Oh, and Bowie can like, I dunno, hit it with his sword - guess he's pretty good with it. Spike will probably run back to the Purple Book Horse before the first swing though; I mean really, who brings a baby, dragon or not, to a battlefield? Ponies are weird.

Dismemberment is always a good time, especially when your enemy can just regenerate limbs on a whim. I feel like they should go find some industrial coagulants or something, snake venom for the hemotoxins maybe, even benzene if they want to wait out the marrow failure. The dude's put all his cards on his blood, and can use it even when subjected to a literal orbital bombardment. Finding out a way to counter that advantage of his in particular is tip top priority.
Sharp getting skewered Boromir-style felt kinda cheap, but I didn't expect to see a reconciliation for him, successful or otherwise. Either way, it opens up the position of pack leader, so we'll see where that goes. I'm rooting for Malachite, since having badass ladies in positions of power is A+.

I did not see that ending coming, to be honest. Not only is Sharp dead but alot of the ponies are ganna feel Shining's death and it's going to hit hard. I couldn't imagine how his family is going to handle this let alone Cadence.

Very interesting ending. The Adversary's punishment is fittingly ironic I suppose, though I do wonder if this is going to bite them.
I will miss Shining. He was one of my favourites and I hope Cadence and the Sparkle Family won't descent into madness next with that blow.
Fighting against Twilight would leave a bad taste in my mouth I think.

Wow. That sure was an ending.
Leave it to Spike to end up being the most important character, and to defeat such a monstrous enemy so thoroughly without actually killing them. I expect great things for Spike in the coming plotlines, or at least more digging into the history of the CD world since it's been leaking through more and more as the story has progressed.
Sharp's plowing through the troops (after he got impaled last update no less!) gave me feels from the Battle of the Hornburg from lotr, with Bitter as Aragorn recognizing the threat of this one individual and hollering for them to be stopped at any cost. At least it didn't end with most of those under the shield getting cut down afterwards, credit to Spike for being so timely with Adversary. Sharp's hopefully gone for good now, as are the Silver Core that were under Adversary's control. Shiny will be sorely missed though, I'd like Selenia to participate in some funeral thread or something for him- he was a captain of the guard and a prince after all.
But, gosh, that sure was a war, and one that lasted years as a matter of fact. I feel like a veteran. Big bad's gone, forces on both sides have been shattered, there's lots of rebuilding to do and wounds to heal, some more permanent than others. I wonder what kind of changes Equestria's gonna experience in the postwar era.

I'm really excited to see where we continue on from here. I think spike learned a lot and im sure there will be quite a bit a time for repairs and grieving. That was a long war and I don't think I was here for most of it. Many lives ere lost in the process. Sad to see Shining go too he was always a favorite of mine!
