Trixie noticed Mystic's approving smile of the theory that Muse had put on the table. "You're probably right about that... I doubt any creature that chooses to live deep in these woods could band together any real form of followers unless they were directly related or family." She nodded toward Muse at the mention of family, crediting her theory again.
"I doubt the spiders would like light either, they tend to be nocturnal creatures. If things get a little hairy, no pun intended, then Willow should really try to brighten up the place. It will definitely blow what stealth we may have, but if things get that bad, stealth shouldn't even be our first priority. I don't want any casualties on this first assignment." She shook her head, now imagining that as a possible outcome should her leadership falter. "If that would happen, Watermark would string me up in a gibbet and sing endlessly... So it's definitely better to be safe than sorry."

Wagon hung back watching Ranger venture deeper into the forest away from the group. His fear was certainly gripping now.
He looked around the other ponies in the fading light, there was little comfort to be had from the other ponies. Each face looked worried or as scared as Wagon was feeling. Riot seemed a little more confident but Wagon wasn't sure if that was true or not. He really hoped Ranger came back soon, he regretted spotting those silly lights now. The one pony he knew would know what was going on was now not there.
He didn't know what to do, he was lost in an unfamiliar place with rules he didn't understand. He longed to be back home with comfort of his workshop but this was important.
He looked around the other ponies before quietly speaking, a slight shake in his voice.
"Have we got a plan on what we are going to do next?"

SPIDERLINGS
Before any pony in Wagon's group could even respond, a chorus of clicks and cracks were heard from all around them, as dark forms scurried about, inspecting, evaluating. Then at once, what seemed like half a dozen spider-like creatures pounced.
One of them latched on straight to Selenia's back, delivering a cruel bite to her shoulder. While another just barely missed Riot. Another Spider nearly landed on Cloudfall, but the Pegasus managed to avoid it just in time.
None of the group could see much of the details to the spider creature's features due to how dark it was. But it was clear they were NOT friendly. Hisses, cracks and clicks were all they would get from them, for sure.

Cloudfall cursed aloud when he barely managed to avoid the spider. At least, he thought it was a spider. It looked like one and it explains the webs. His eyes narrowed at the dark, multi-legged thing that attacked him. He flared his wings out in reflex, but didn't fly. He instead dropped low and kept himself ready should it try that again so he could dodge again or maybe, Celestia permitting, get a hit in on one.
Cloudfall risked turning his head slightly to try and see how the rest of his group was fairing. Where they as lucky as he was?

Escaping from the spiders, the Equestrians met up with Ranger along the way, while the cultists on the other side encountered no resistance. Ranger offered Selenia a quick field bandage, but they had no time to sit back and relax.
Trixie's group had just arrived to the same clearing they were in. But the problem was not in them, it was in the gigantic creature that had dropped down from above. It was truly horrifying to behold. A spider, connected to a four-armed torso, and the head of a mutation between a pony and a spider.
A sick wave of nausea spread through both groups as they looked on the creature. Ranger himself had to hold back from vomiting. This wasn't a monster... it was an abberation. The creature's claws hands snapped angrily as it scouted around, sensing all of the ponies around it.
This was what they had come here to kill, and by the looks of it, it wasn't going to be easy.
(NOTE: CULTISTS GO FIRST)
SPIDER ABBERATION
Whatever made this creature is unknown, but its size and structure suggests it to be a mutation between a pony and a giant spider. Its back has a distinct red cobweb marking.
Special Abilities: Unknown
Danger Level : Unknown

Muse peered out from under his blindfold, he was wordless for a moment as he looked at the odd creature. "Ok....well lets get this done with...I guess.." at a loss for words thats all he could get out he prepared himself for a battle. "I guess I'm lucky I'm not looking at that.....thing." he laughed for a second then got serious again. "ok Everypony, be careful." He was worried, no idea what this....thing was how were they going take this thing down without somepony getting seriously injured. He took a moment to inspect the area around them "Ok it's minions are inbound so if we have a time to strike it would be right now." he said.

Willow didn't know what she was looking at, and she wasn't sure that she wanted to know; she blinked a little and tried to decide whether she should be afraid or merely cautious. After several moments, she settled on caution rather than outright fear; it'd be harder to work with fear. "Be ready with those darts," she whispered quietly, trying not to draw the attention of the other ponies in the clearing and preparing her spell. "Aim for it before I'm done, and shield your eyes..."
It always took a lot of concentration to make sunlight, even with a small lantern; she was trying to make one the size of a smaller pony. She had figured out how to make larger (and thus brighter) lanterns recently, and while she had been successful at making a few larger ones, they had been easier lights which she was more familiar with. The key was focusing the energy in her horn first, rather than just gathering it at the tip; doing it that way gathered more light.
She edged away from the aberration as she prepped the spell and her horn started growing brighter. Finally she closed her eyes and released the ball of light, casting it in the general direction of the aberration (and the other ponies; with any luck they'd be blinded too). It was smaller than she had hoped, but suddenly the entire area lit up and she had to close her eyes tight and hope the other ponies had taken the opportunity to act. She'd be dizzy for the next several minutes, and have a headache for the rest of the night.
