"You!" Klepto said, catching up with Sea and this Portia. "You're the unicorn who posted all those fliers I had to clean up. And then you hit me in the back of the head. And then the garbage wave. And..." Klepto paused to look over at another unicorn flying into a group of nearby ponies, knocking them down before taking off. "And you probably had something to do with that too. I don't know where you get off with this kind of act, but what you're doin' ain't exactly common courtesy."
A sudden and deafening boom from the next street over, this one significantly louder than the others had been, cut off Klepto's train of thought. He looked off towards the source of the sound, then back at Portia. "Stay here. I ain't done making you feel bad yet." Waiting for a lull in the traffic, Klepto darted across the street, passing through another alley onto the other side. Peeking around the corner, he saw a grey-cloaked pony struggling against a large, moving griffin statue.
...
"What the heck did you do?!" Klepto yelled back through the alley. He then remembered what Sea had told him, that she had seen the Grey Shadow, that he had nearly run her over. Maybe she hadn't been as delirious as he thought. In any case, the cloaked figure was now escaping the statue and making his way onto the roofs. Klepto looked closely at the stallion above him in the distance, then back at Portia through the alley and across the street.
She could wait. In the mean time, he ought to at least be figuring out what was up with this weird cloaked pony, Grey Shadow or not. Hopping up onto a closed dumpster, Klepto quickly pulled himself up onto the first level of the alley's fire escape. He was good at making odd navigations like this, and being fast at it. As long as he didn't have any waves of garbage to deal with, hopefully he would be able to catch up with this cloaked weirdo.
Reaching the end of the platform, he paused a moment to call across the street. "Hey, Sea. Your run-away delivery cart just made his way to the rooftops. And uh... tell Portia that just because I'm investigatin' doesn't mean she's off the hook." He then turned back around, starting up the first of several stairways up the fire escape.

Portia snorted at the insolent little colt as he continued his chase. He was most certainly finished as far as she was concerned.
Since the traffic had slowed now, due to another unicorn's crash, Portia marched across the road and around the corner. So upset was she that the giant, stone griffin didn't even cause her to blink. Stone shattered everywhere as this thief persevered in his escape. Without really thinking of the consequences, Portia sent out a spell she had only ever used on her cousins when they became too rambunctious. Fuschia cords of light sprung from her horn, aimed at the "Shadow's" hind legs.
Hmph. If he got away from that, Portia thought, then he really was legendary.

((OOC: Retconned my last post. I got Red's permission, Sea's back in.))
Sea heard Klepto's tirade toward Portia, but she was barely paying attention to it - instead, she was still trying to figure out a way across the street. It took a moment before Klepto's anger really registered. "Wait, are you upset wit-"
Suddenly, Sea thought she heard her name, and turned to see a white mass bowled over the crowd of ponies in front of her. Then, thinking she might have recognized the thing that just cleared a path for her, she called, "Penn?"
Galloping across the street, Sea turned to see a griffin statue's wings explode. Through the smoke and fire, the Shadow escaped up to the rooftops.
"Dude, I told you! I told you so b-what do ya think you're doin'?!" Sea said as Klepto quickly leapt up onto a dumpster and then onto the building's fire escape. She was impressed - he was pretty nimble for a hobo.
But there was no way Sea was going to hang back. She still had to pay the Grey Shadow back for nearly running her over!
Sea wasn't quite as agile as Klepto, so when she tried the same move he just used, she nearly tripped and fell on her face. "Hey, hol' up!" She regained her balance and decided to try again. But this time, she decided to rely purely on the strength of her legs instead of dexterity. She got a running start and leapt from the ground as hard as she could, and managed to get a grip on the bottom platform of the fire escape.
Suddenly, several beams of fuchsia light flew by, presumably aimed at the Shadow. Sea looked around to look for their source, and noticed it was a spell cast by Portia. "Woo! You go, Portia!" Sea hollered at her friend, as she pulled herself up the fire escape. "Mess that buckin' idiot up!"

Klepto stepped swiftly and lightly as he made his way up the first few flights of stairs on the fire escape. He did his best to keep his momentum up as much as possible, making his turns as sharp as he could at the end of each step. At this rate, he would be at the top in no time.
Klepto stopped as he heard Sea call down to him, and soon felt a small vibration through the metal of the fire escape. Sure enough, looking down revealed Sea Swell pulling herself onto the escape's lower level. He was somewhat surprised she had decided to follow him, but then again, she had been wanting to catch up with this pony too. "C'mon, Sea, Klepto called down to her. "I ain't waitin' for ya."
His attention was diverted to several cords of light emanating from the side of the street. It was Portia again. This time she was trying to cast some spell to "catch" the cloaked stallion. "Whatever," Klepto thought, turning back to the stairs and continuing his ascent. She could do whatever the heck she wanted, as long as it didn't get in his way.

The cloaked pony leapt backward from the fire escape as the spell approached. More quickly than the cloaked pony's pursuers could react, the cords of light tracking him seemed to catch aflame for a brief moment and held still. Then, just as quickly, the fiery tendrils of light seemed to redirect themselves towards the next closest target: the earth pony who came climbing up the fire escape.
Grabbing the pursuing stallion by his hind legs, the light held him about in the air for a second before unceremoniously dropping him into the alley again, right into an open dumpster filled with sacks of garbage. The spell then seemed to become fully engulfed in the fire and evaporated harmlessly into the air.
The cloaked pony landed safely on the adjacent building, and, upon flaming hooves, began to glide softly along the air away from the rest of his pursuers.
