Portia's admitting to falling off the stage, not once, but multiple times made Sea giggle. That was like something straight out of a cartoon!
The theatre's welcoming warmth was a quite the relief. Sea was a bit taken by surprise at Portia's sudden flood of questions, but was glad to hear her eagerness.
"Don't mind getting friendly so fast huh Portia? That's cool, I dig that," Sea said, taking a seat after placing her coat and scarf on a nearby chair to hang and began to think about how to answer Portia's questions. "Well, even when I was just a little filly, I always loved music, of all kinds: pop, rock, house, jazz, folk, metal, whatever I could get my hooves on, really. But hip hop was something special, ya know? Like musical poetry. Something about finding the perfect formation of words that fit was so satisfying - like solving a puzzle, ya know?" Sea said with a slight light-hearted smirk. "I knew what I wanted to be since I was six, and Mom always pushed me to follow my dreams, no matter how big they were. So I moved to Manehattan so I could prove that I could become whatever I wanted to be, and to prove to everyone else that they can too. (And also to make a lot of money!)" Sea chuckled slightly as she avoided telling a completely corny story about herself.
Action seemed somewhat hesitant to tell 'everything' about himself, so Sea was about to encourage him (since everypony was being all super-chummy and all anyway!) when a voice came from the entry doors - something about selling paintings? That seemed incredibly potentially familiar, but she wasn't certain if it was or not.
"Okay, see, this is why everyone should have one of those 'no solicitation' signs. Also, isn't it a bit late and, uh, freezing to be selling stuff?"

Portia grinned as she listened to Sea Swell's story, reminded of herself before she got her own cutie mark. She noticed, but did not comment on, Action's blush. If he didn't want to tell her anything, that was okay, she knew she could be a bit forward sometimes and opened her mouth to tell him so when she heard a tiny voice come from the door. Who in Equestria would be out at this hour and this weather? She grinned. Besides herself and her new friends, anyway. Portia stood and trotted to the door, but her grin wiped away when she saw the little solicitor. "Oh my dear little thing! You come inside this instant before you catch cold!" Portia whisked the filly into her theatre and wrapped her own blanket around the tiny body, lifting her and setting her down on a seat. "Now you sit right there, I'm going to get you a mug of hot chocolate. Do your parents know you're out here? Isn't it a little past your bedtime? My, my, my, what is Equestria coming to these days?" Portia cantered to the kitchen in back and poured some of the cocoa into a mug before pausing. She did have other guests, too, for goodness sake. Portia grabbed three more mugs and filled each of them to the brim, set them on a tray, and floated them in front of her as she trotted back. Not forgetting her manners, she served the filly first, then Sea Swell, then Action and finally, herself. Finally able to relax somewhat, she sat back down in her chair and blew on her cocoa, watching the filly, waiting for her to explain herself. It took a moment for her to remember to warn her guests. "Oh, do be careful, the cocoa's hot."

Splatterpaint stood on the doorstep, feeling discouraged, as she heard the ponies talking inside the theatre. She was about to turn around and walk back home when the door swung open. Light filtered out and onto the snow, and Splatterpaint studies the pony in the doorstep for half a second. She seemed nice, to Splatterpaint's relief. "Hi there! I'm Spla-" she stopped talking midsentence when she was ushered into the theatre. All Splatterpaint could manage to say was a small, protesting squeak when she was lifted into the chair.
Splatterpaint was bombarded with questions, "Umm, thank you Ma'am. Well, my parents know I'm out, but they don't know I'm here. And I don't have a bedtime, I'm not as little as I look, you know. I was born tiny, so I always look younger than I am." Splatterpaint gazed around at the two other ponies, feeling awkward around the two older ponies, and feeling guilty about being welcomed into the theatre so suddenly, and interrupting what may have been an important conversation. One of the ponies looked familiar, but she couldn't quite remember...ah, yes! The brown Pegasus, she has seen her in the streets during the Grey Shadow incident. She snuggled deeper into the blanket gratefully, and when Portia gave her the mug of hot chocolate, she thanked Portia graciously, "Thank you so much Ma'am, it looks really yummy! I'm sorry if I'm interrupting anything important. I'm Splatterpaint, nice to meet you!"Splatterpaint grinned.

Action took the hot chocolate from Portia and nodded in thanks. He blew gently on the rising steam in order to cool it down. He took small sip and the cocoa filled his body with a relaxing sensation of warmth. The taste was quite wholesome as well. The rich, creamy taste of the chocolate reminded Action of the winters with Primo, as he was pretty much reliving those memories. He looked over to the filly who had introduced herself as "Splatterpaint." She was a dainty thing who had a coat as white as the snow outside and her messy, yet colorful mane surely represented her name. He grinned at her amusing squeaks.
The way Portia had picked the little filly up was a sight to see. He had never really had really delved into the world of children, as he was an only child. Action looked up at the stage, triggering the flashbacks in his head about how the only experience he had was through child actors. However, back then, he wasn't too fond of them. But, in Splatterpaint, he did that she was more mature than your average filly.
"It's nice to you meet you Splatterpaint. You're definately an interesting little one, I'll say that much. My name is Action Shot, I run a movie studio here in town. Judging by the sight of your cutie mark, you're a painter?"

Splatterpaint listened to Action Shot introduce himself, studying him with large, inquisitive eyes. He was a big, brown pony with a really long black mane and glasses. Splatter's first impression, which is usually correct, was that he was a friendly,strong-willed, and nice. She hoped that they could be friends.
When Action Shot finished introducing himself, she nodded. "Thank you, you seem very interesting too! You're a filmmaker? Wow, that's super cool, you must be famous! I bet I've seen your work before. And yes, I am a painter! My parents and I run the little art studio a little ways down the street." she gave a little bounce of excitement, and pulled a painting out of her bag. "Sthee?" she asked, her words coming out strange as she tried to talk with the painting being held with her mouth. She placed the painting on the floor so it could still be seen and she could talk. "It's not the kind of painting you usually see, but I paint what I feel. It's called 'expressional art' I think." she looked at Action Shot and the other ponies eagerly, hoping that they thought her painting was good.

Sea smiled appreciatively as Portia handed her a mug of hot chocolate. Nothing like a warm drink after being out in the cold!
The young unicorn filly introduced herself as Splatterpaint. Her short, electric blue mane complemented her pale white coat well, and the mark on her flank suggested her talent toward visual arts.
Sea recognized her from around the time of the whole Grey Shadow debacle. Although for some weird reason, her memories from that whole incident were incredibly hazy, so she couldn't actually recall any specific details other than "oh hey I seen that filly before!" Oh well who cares, Sea just brushed it off as temporary amnesia.
The filly pulled out a painting of hers and placed it on the floor. "Oh hey, that's cool! It's like, uh, abstract, um, like you said, expression... well whatever! It looks sweet. Kind of like that one guy, right? Pollock or whoever?" Sea hardly knew any technical terms regarding visual art, but she could appreciate the style.

Portia studied the painting while taking a sip of her cocoa. Thankfully, it wasn't too hot. She grinned at the filly from behind her mug. A sweet little thing, lots of assertiveness, too. She'd love to teach somepony like that, but it seemed as if her family's financial situation would be unable to cover the cost of tuition. Portia sipped more cocoa and looked back at the painting, an idea forming in the back of her mind. "Splatterpaint, where do you go to school?" Portia grinned as the idea became even bigger. It'd be a win-win for everypony, she was sure. She could use the help and her parents would perhaps pounce on the opportunity it would mean for their foal. Almost unable to contain herself, Portia laid her mug in one of the seat's cupholders and started fiddling with her mane. Oh yes, it was a grand idea. Portia loved being so connected. That part of being part of a noble family at least had its perks.

He laughed at the compliment heartily and smiled.
"Well, little Splatterpaint, I just happen to be in post production for my documentary on the Grey Shadow incident...I'm planning on submitting it to a film festival either in the Spring or the Summer. It all depends on my schedule..." Action saw her excitement rise at his acknowledgement of her job. She bounced with glee as she pulled out one of her paintings from a bag and unrolled a painting that had brilliant colors splotched about it.
He examined the painting with tact. Despite being in a visual art medium, his strength in cinematography and having an eye for the aesthetics was somewhat difficult, as he was mainly a story-teller. As reflective of his documentary, which told about what happened, not exactly caring about the shots other than working with the basics here and there. He took another sip of his cocoa and turned his head sideways.
"Unfortunately, young Splatterpaint, I may be a filmmaker, but atmospherically inclined I am not. But, based on what you said about feeling, I think this painting looks like you were happy or excited? Correct me if I'm wrong, by all means...but to me, based on the array of the spectrum you have gathered to form this piece reminds me of a sonic rainboom...that is, if I ever saw one." Action turned his head back and thought through his analysis. Wow, that's the firs time I've used my passion to think. Perhaps, this is a first step to being a new me as well as gaining some awesome friends!
Upon these reflections he suddenly saw Portia playing with her mane, a hint of realization kicked in. Sea Swell and Splatterpaint, had both told about themselves -- even if the little foal had introduced herself -- Action had not said word about his own past! This rudeness could not be tolerated. He should've spoken when he had the chance, but now Portia's attention was directed at Splatterpaint, so only talking about himself would probably seem egotistical. There could be no harm in asking though, right? Action took a bit of a gulp of his hot cocoa once again, this time to relax. He drew in his breath and presented himself as polite as he could:
"...er, Miss Buckworth, I hate to interrupt a more-than-likely important conversation here, but I was wondering if you still wanted me to tell you a bit about myself?" Action's tone was slightly nervous, partially due to Portia's looks...but Action had to stomach this as best he could.

Splatterpaint beamed at the compliment from Sea Swell. "Uh-huh, it's almost exactly like Pollock. Abstract expressionism. My parents told me about him, and his paintings are what gave me the idea for my work. He's pretty much my inspiration." Splatterpaint studied Sea Swell again, and said, "You're some sort of singer, aren't you? You talk in a singy-song voice." Splatterpaint was being observant again, catching every little detail about these ponies as she could. "If you are, that's so cool! It must be fun to be a singer."
When Portia asked her where she went to school, she tilted her head a bit to the side questioningly. "School? What's school?" Splatterpaint thought for a moment, "School is the place where you learn, right? Well, I don't go. My parents teach me the basic stuff, and I learn quickly. Mostly my parents teach me about art, but I've learned plenty of other things, both educational and artistic, like music. You know, the arts. You must have learned about the arts too, if you're into theatre. You are a director, right?" Splatterpaint asked Portia, "You look like one, and you seem like one. I've done a few little skits here and there with my friends, but never with a big audience. Is it scary? Or super exciting? Are you ever afraid people won't like your work? It must be fun to get to make plays and stuff. Do you come up with the ideas on your own? I bet it's super cool when people like your plays." Splatterpaint could talk for hours, but she didn't want to talk to much and lose her voice, like she had a month ago when she had met another filly on the streets.
The reason Splatterpaint had known she was a director for plays was because this pony was very pretty, and the way she talked and moved made her look as if she was in a play. She could also tell that she was used to being a leader. Splatterpaint could see excitement in Portia's eyes, and since seeing a pony excited always made Splatterpaint's excited, she was ready to burst with happiness.
Her head turned to Action Shot, and when she heard him talk about his filming, she widened her eyes even more, "Wow, you're making a film about the Grey Shadow scandal? That must be fun! I bet it'll be really popular!" When he asked if he should tell about his past, she felt both intrigued and a little awkward. Had he been talking about it before she had arrived? Did that mean she had interrupted an important conversation? Oh dear, she hoped no pony was mad at her.

Well, this Splatterpaint was certainly perceptive! Sea was surprised at how she noted details about both her and Portia, and guessed with relative accuracy about themselves. Sea was also unprepared for how much and how fast she was talking. But it was also nice to see that a young filly could get so excited about something!
"Almost right," Sea said with a friendly smile. "I sing sometimes. But most of the time I rap."
When Action mentioned telling some things about himself, Sea was suddenly reminded about them going out to become friends. Oh, yeah, that WAS what we were trying to do in the first place, right?, she thought. Like, getting to know each other and stuff? Can't believe all these things happened since then. Though she didn't mind at all the extra distractions - meeting more people meant making more friends after all!
"Sheesh, took us a minute to get back to that, huh?" Sea joked.

Portia snapped out of her thoughts as Action reminded her of what they had been talking about beforehoof. "Oh! Of course, Action! I'm sorry, my brain is a bit scattered right now..." She giggled. "Actually, I think my brain's scattered all the time, but please do tell us about yourself. I am most interested to hear about the stallion that saved my life." She added a smile here to help encourage her new friend to open up. She didn't want him to feel nervous around her.

"Thanks Splatter! Although, to be honest, I'm not that famous, it's probably more-or-less just word around town of 'oh, he makes movies,' nothin' big. The documentary is actually probably one of my biggest projects yet. I'm hoping that the editing goes smoothly so when it's completed, I can ship the documentary to Canterlot so it can be reviewed for historical archiving. I see this as being the ideal solution at the moment for me to share my movies with everypony," Action stated boldly.
During his monologue, Action had looked to the snow outside a nearby window. When he moved onto the subject about talking about himself further, he looked back and saw Splatterpaint's look of disdain, as he if she had felt out of place. You probably should apologize to her before you explain yourself to Portia...that may be an ideal solution...
"Are you okay, Splatterpaint? You look a little uncomfortable...I apologize once again for being a little rude...however, Portia just wanted to know a little bit about me. I was a little afraid at first, but I just felt like I should say what I have to say now before we move on with more important matters at hoof," Action stated as he gave her a reassuring smile. He made eye contact with Portia and swallowed hard.
"Well, Miss Buckworth, I would first like to say that I am most grateful for saving your life...er, you're quite a catch -- I ME-an -- you're one of the most interesting ponies I've ever met..." Action trailed off momentarily as another blush rose before continuing.
"ANY-way...ahem. Excuse me. Um...I used to be a theatre pony, such as yourself. Not so much an director, but an actor. This also has to do with the reason of why I acted rather hastily when you mentioned you were in theatre. See, I used to be one of the top dogs in the former company called the Manehattan Players," Action curled his lip slightly before he ventured further. He drew a deep breath and looked at both Sea Swell and Portia.
"....I apologize for stopping so much...it's just been a while since I've told this story -- Well, I was known to be one of the strongest thespians in the crew, so I was cast in Shakespony's Hamlet and during opening night, I got really nervous and let out a belch that sounded like a mule...so I was dubbed the 'Manehattan Mule.' I became the laughing stock of the city...as for the Players..." Action's passion built as his legs began to lock up.
"Their reputation as one of the more prestigious companies plummeted and I did my best to try to make it up by starring in play after play, but alas, it was futile. The Manehattan Players went out of business and I hid my face from public. In fact, I hadn't earned my cutie mark yet...this was only a couple years ago. I joined Bits and Brags productions as a P.A. The owner died and passed the business to me after training me. I changed it to 'Revelations Primo' and then I earned my cutie mark after making my first film." Action took a rather large gulp of his cocoa and set the mug down. He was flustered at this point and he tried to hold his passion in, causing his body to shake.
"That's pretty much it...asi-de f-from my athletic-ism...that was a mix of thea-tre f-ighting and film stunt tra-ining..." His tone was somber, his voice quivering.
Wow, I've forgotten how much of let-down my past is. I hope Portia doesn't find me depressing. I don't want to lose such a beautiful mare for a friend. Not to mention, Sea Swell and Splatters...

Splatterpaint was surprised when Action Shot addressed her before telling his story, "Oh, no, I'm sorry! I'm fine, just worried that I had interrupted something important by coming here, that's all. I didn't mean to be rude." Action's smile reassured her a bit, and she listened intently to the story that Action began to tell. How fascinating, he had been an actor first! Cool! As she continued to listen, she began to feel really sorry for him. It must have stunk to get dubbed with such a name, and then have the people you work for get shut down. He must have felt so awful... Splatterpaint listened to the end of his story. It was interesting to her about how passionate he was about this. It must have been really emotional for him. She paused for a moment before speaking, "I'm sorry Mr. Action Shot! It must have really stunk for that to have happened. Not to mention having people call you such an awful name! But all the same, it is sort of a good thing that it happened. If it hadn't you may have never become a director, and then you would have never earned your cutie mark!" Splatterpaint was trying to find the bright side of a bad situation. But what she said was what she believed, so hopefully no pony would think she was crazy for thinking it.

Sea frowned ever so slightly as she listened to Action’s story, noting the apparent nervousness in his voice. She could sympathize. It’s not easy going into detail about one’s past, and Action certainly didn’t seem to be any exception.
’Manehattan Mule,’ huh? That kind of senseless and stupid name-calling sounds too familiar, she thought to herself.
When Action Shot mentioned the death of his mentor, however, Sea began to reinterpret the quirky behaviors Action sometimes showed: his awkward speech, some of the weird twitches he had, his strange control of the volume of his voice. After all that's happened to him, it's no wonder he's so passionate about his work, she thought. It's the same passion I have for music... But what about all that awkward stuff he does?
She thought back to earlier that night, when Action told her that his eye-twitch was just the build-up of his passion. That eye-twitch from earlier tonight... when he told me that it was his passion building up, he really meant it, didn't he? she thought. And how did I react? I just became annoyed and judged him for it, like a jerk... It made her feel incredibly uncomfortable to think that she had been silently judging Action Shot ever since they first met. And the thought that she had been doing so so unfairly made it even worse.
Silently sipping her drink, Sea turned to Splatterpaint as she talked, mulling over both what she was saying and what Action just said. When she finished, Sea turned back to Action and chimed in, ”Splatter’s kinda right, you know? I mean, I’m sorry about what happened to your friend, the old owner of your company. That… really bites.” Her eyes glanced away momentarily during her apology. She wasn’t used to talking about serious subjects like this, and her guilt about judging Action certainly didn't help, but her concern was sincere. ”But, you know, in spite of all that, you took what you had and you’re making yourself stronger for it. That’s really admirable. I mean, I really admire that.”
”And, I mean, you’re the head of your own company and making your own films and everything? Sounds to me like you’re just about ready to blow up in the movie scene.” In an attempt to lighten up the mood, she also joked, ”Hey, when you blow up, maybe I should start calling you ‘Big Shot’ instead, huh?”
