Shortly after ten, Sea woke up well rested and focused on the day ahead. There would probably a lot of things to sort out about the band, things to talk through. Noticing her mess of a mane in the mirror, though, she grabbed a brush from her bag and took the time to sort it out. Her appearance was something she prided herself in - after all, an artist should always look her best - so even though she was eager to get the day started, she took a few moments to take care of her mane.
Sea then recalled how, just a few hours ago, she must have looked like a mess when she was knocking on Strings's door. But then, she felt like a mess. In stark contrast, this morning was filled with hope and promise. She felt unbelievably good. And then she remembered that she never thanked Strings. Well, she'd have to do that if he was up already.
...
As the mare descended the stairs, she began to think about the logistics behind this new project. Sea lived in Manehattan, Strings lived, well, here. How to make something like this work? Maybe she could ask her boss for a sabbatical while she worked on this project. Well, she was sure something could be worked out.
Entering the kitchen and noticing that Strings was already up and about, she flashed him a smile and said "Ay, dude. Listen, I never got to say how much I appreciate you hearin' me vent last night, and, well, wantin' to try doin' a project together. It means a lot, so... thanks." She spoke honestly - no one did so much for her ever since she moved out of Fillydelphia. She would have been happy if he had just listened to her rant for a bit, but he did even more. The prospect of a new musical project was exciting. She only hoped that Strings was still as excited for it as much as she was.

Strings smiled as he saw Sea Swell enter the kitchen. Great, she was still here. "Hey Sea Swell! Did you sleep well?" He got up from the stool and walked over to the cupboard and looked through it. "Hey, don't worry about." He got out an array of cereals and smiled at Sea Swell. So, you hungry? I have all different kinds of cereals, or some fruit or whatever. Just ask, and you shall receive."
Strings grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl on the counter and sat back down on his stool. He had so many things he wanted to talk about, he found it hard to decide what to start with. "So, about what I said last night. I hope I didn't freak you out or anything. I was just speaking my mind. I tend to do that a lot more freely when I'm tired." He shot a smile towards Sea Swell, then took a bite out of his apple. He decided to get this subject out of the way first, to clear his mind.

"Yeah, a lot better sleeping in a bed than on a bench," said Sea with a smirk as she sat down across from Strings's seat. "Sure, I could go for a grapefruit."
"Hm? Oh..." A grin slowly spread across Sea's face as she closed her eyes and recalled Strings's final words to her the previous night. "No... you just surprised me, is all," she said, opening her eyes to look at the stallion again, and then gave him a sultry smile. "But y'know, you're pretty cute yourself. If you wanna try to turn this into somethin', that's cool, but..." Both she and Strings were taking a pretty big chance by trying to start a band together so quickly after meeting, but even so, if there was a chance that there could be something more interesting... well, she wanted it to be real, and not just some stupid fling that might end up souring the whole project. "... I think we should just have fun with it, y'know? With the band, I mean, and... y'know, see what happens." Sea spoke casually but earnestly. She was hoping that something could happen between them - Strings was not only cute, but also a great musician after all - but she just wanted to let things go naturally, and hoped Strings felt the same way.

Strings grabbed a grapefruit from the fruit bowl next to him and tossed it handed it to Sea Swell. "Here you go" He said with a smile. He then opened a the draw underneath the sink and pulled out a rather large knife and handed it to the chocolate mare sitting across from him. "Just incase you need to cut it."
"Yeah, I agree" Strings answered. He was glad that Sea Swelll felt the same way more or less, but they did only just meet. And, if they rush into it, it could end up ruining the whole thing. He thought it would probably be best to take it slow. Start up the band and see how things go. "I think we should just start with the band and see where things go from there, sound good?"

"Thanks," said Sea, taking the knife and grapefruit. She sliced it down the center, and began cutting out each wedge with the knife.
"Sure, dude. Sounds great," replied Sea, glad to hear that Strings was cool with taking things as they go. "So, for the band... well, I guess we can try and sort out the, uh, obvious problems first." Sea breathed in deeply and began eating one of the wedges. The mare was certain it could be solved, it was only a matter of how.
She swallowed and continued, "So, I mean, like I said... I'm really only in Cloudsdale on vacation. I live in Manehattan and I got a job at an art supplies store. I can probably ask for a sabbatical - my boss, he knows how important my music is to me - but, well... honestly, I just don't have a whole lotta money." Her eyes shifted away from Strings, her cheeks turning slightly red. Her financial situation was something she wasn't really proud of, being poor for all her life. She found it hard to admit to Strings something like that, but, well, he already listened to her frustrated ambitions at music, so...
"Truth is, I can't afford to stay at a hotel for too many nights, and-" Sea bit her lip. There was no way she could ask Strings to let her stay at his place again - not after all that he did for her already. This was utterly pathetic - how could she seem so weak in front of Strings, and for the second time in a row, too? She wanted to impress him and make him feel like starting a band with her was the right choice. But the more she thought about it, the more it seemed like she was going to be a burden to him, and the more she began to feel like she did the previous night.
Sea stayed silent for a moment, hoping to think of some way around the issue that didn't involve putting more of a burden on Strings, but couldn't come up with an answer. She could only wait and hope that Strings would have one.

Strings was relieved that Sea Swell was on the same page as him. But, he had to focus on the matter at hand. The band. Sea Swell was only in Cloudsdale temporarily, and had to go back to Manehatten soon. But, Strings himself wasn't in Cloudsdale permanently either. "Well, I'm only here visiting my cousin. I actually live in Ponyville." Strings then thought of two options for this situation. "Well, I can think of a couple of ways to get around this. One option is you come live with me in Ponyville. I can get you a job at the music store or something and you can stay at my house free of charge or if you don't feel comfortable with that, you can pay half the rent. Or, I can move to Manhatten with you. I'm good with either. You choose." These were both pretty drastic measures, but Strings thought they were probably the only way.

"You live in Ponyville?" Sea Swell began thinking about her options. Well, there was no way she could ask Strings to move in with her in Manehattan. The only other option was moving to Ponyville with Strings - and there was no way she was going to be freeloading. She was going to get a job and pay her part of rent.
But even after considering all this, it was still a huge step. She only moved to Manehattan the previous year. She could move again - after all, Ponyville was a small town like Fillydelphia, so maybe she could feel right at home - but so soon? It wasn't something that could just be decided so quickly.
"I, um, need to think about it," Sea Swell said finally, and eating the last of the grapefruit. Walking over to the waste bin to throw out the remains, something caught her eye on the counter. Her curiosity getting the better of her, she glanced at the papers. She wasn't ready for what it said, though.
"What... report for training for the upcoming attack on the Cult of Eclipse?" Sea looked over at Strings. "Strings, this isn't yours, is it?"

"Yeah, no worries." Strings said to Sea Swell. None of this would be an easy choice for either of them, so he understood that Sea had to think about it. He was willing to do just about anything to make this band work though. Sea Swell then asked him if a certain note was his. Then he remembered what he had to do at the end of this week...
"Oh no..." Strings said. He had completely forgotten that in a few days he has to leave for training, and then go to war with the Cult of the Eclipse. How on earth did he forget this? And how in the hay was he going to explain this to Sea Swell. He felt horrible. "I totally forgot about this, I am so sorry! But yes, that is mine. At the end of the week I have to report to the Equestrian Army and serve as part of Strike Team Thunderbird." What was Sea going to think? That he just made the band up to get her hopes up, then leave for war and never come back? That couldn't be further from the truth. "Look, Sea. You have to believe me that I completely forgot about this." He grasped the mare's hooves in his own. "And I promise you, I will come back, and we will make this work. I promise."

"W-what? The army? But - how..." Sea Swell hoped that maybe the papers were delivered to the wrong address, and Strings had nothing to do with this craziness. But he just confirmed her worries.
Equestrian Army? Strike Team Thunderbird? War with the Cult of Eclipse? Sea was a mess of confusion - how was she supposed to react? As Strings held her hooves in his own, Sea remained silent for a moment. How could anyone possibly 'forget' something so important? Could he just be playing with her - inviting her to stay in his home, starting a band with her, going to war? If Strings was toying with her, then there was no way Sea could ever forgive him. Not after she poured her heart out to him the previous night.
But there was something in his voice that compelled Sea to believe him. The only thing she could do was trust him. Strings was one of the very few people who actually seemed to care about her, even though it had only been a day. How could she not trust him? But Sea worried about him leaving to going to fight in a war. What if he got hurt? Or worse? "... Just, make sure you come back safe, alright?" Sea asked softly.

As he looked into the mare's eyes, Strings felt really bad. He had just told someone that he had invited into a band that he is going away to war in a few days. And even though it had only been a day, he really did care about her. "Don't worry, I will. I promise you Sea Swell." He just sat their staring into Sea's eyes, hoping that she would not get mad.

It was still a lot to take in. Starting a band. Moving to Ponyville. Strings going to war. But when she heard his promise, Sea believed him. There was something in his voice that convinced her that he actually did care about her. It was something she wanted to hear from someone - anyone - for a long time. She wanted to do something to show how much it meant to her - so she leaned in and kissed him.
It was an action taken out of impulse and instinct, with hardly a thought behind it, but she still wanted to do it. When she pulled back, she looked into Strings's eyes and silently prayed that she didn't just make a mistake.

Strings just sat there for a short while, staring a Sea Swell. He was surprised at Sea's last move, but he thought that, he liked it. So, he smiled and leaned back in for another kiss. He held Sea in his embrace for a good few minutes. When he released her and sat back, he just blushed and looked away shyly. "Well um, that was...um." He laughed slightly as he looked back up at Sea and smiled. "So, um, what should we do when I get back?"

The mare's heart skipped a beat when Strings leaned in for another kiss. It felt awkward for a moment after the fact, but Sea didn't let it bother her. After all, Sea felt unbelievably fortunate to meet someone so kind and generous.
Sea considered Strings's question for a moment. 'I can't really ask Strings to move to Manehattan... can I? It would be asking too much of him - and besides, my apartment would hardly have enough room for the both of us. I mean, there was that time I said Klepto could stay, but I mean, he's a hobo and all... So that really only leaves one other option if there's going to be a chance for this band to get off the ground.'
It was a huge decision either way - something Sea wasn't prepared to make at that time. As impulsive as she had been recently, suddenly ditching the city to go live in a tiny town like Ponyville wasn't something she was ready to do. Or at least, not at that moment.
"Call me when you get back," Sea said finally. "And if you're still up for it, I'll be ready to do whatever it takes to get this band thing working, for both of us." Sea needed to know out what Strings wanted to do when he came back, hopefully safe and sound. Whether that meant that Sea should move out of the city or make room for Strings in Manehattan, she would be ready to do it.

"Yes, of course Sea." He said, still smiling. "When I get home, I will look you up in Manehatten, and we can do whatever you want to get this started." He then just stared at Sea Swell again. He couldn't believe that he already felt this strongly about her when he just met her yesterday. And he just invited her to a band then revealed that his going to war. He felt so stupid. And the worst thing was, he wasn't even sure if he'd make it back. But he had to. For Sea Swell.
