Gear gave a small chuckle. "Yes after many years of intensive training and practice I can use the door now." He said jokingly. "So how have you two been?" he said as he was about to yawn.

As Gear Grinder appeared at the door, Zircon was already sucking down whatever sort of drink Ginger Snap had given him, only offering a subtle wave toward the grey-pony's way as he greeted the pair.
"Dirty farm ponies only called dirty because usually covered in dirt! Yes?" He explained between loud slurps, "But.. Zee will call them FARM ponies from now on.." He grunted, throwing his weight to sit up. Every inch of him was toasty, now, save for a cold draft coming in from behind, from the open door. Zircon paused in his voracious slurping of the tea--despite not liking tea--to fetch the last stale vanilla marzipan cookie he'd hidden in his inner coat pocket, dipping it into the tea before munching it down.

GingerSnap ushered Gear inside and closed the door cutting off the brisk afternoon air. Yes Zee, but if Diamond Dogs are underground they too are dirty also...
Taking her seat next to the stove Ginger sipped her drink. We are doing fine, Gear. How was your morning? Ginger looked around the room peering into the dusty corners. Whoever inhabited the home previously had a mixed taste of decoration, something once she had enough money she would definitely have to change. Zee was now dunking one of her old cookies into his mug, another reminder that she must really replinish her stock.

As he went inside he gave another yawn. "it was alright. Still rather beat though. Thought I was gonna pass out in the garage." he was stretching his hooves as be was still tired. "Maybe I need a break from my project." he said to himself.
He looked over at Zircon. "Hey Zee the caravans coming in a few hours and I need help moving a few things before the shipment comes in. Think you can help me out?"

"Maybe.." Zircon responded, gulping down the rest of the brew, before placing it down and hopping up to his paws, "What will be the reward? Is sounding like very hard work.. In very cold weather!" He mentioned, peering over his shoulder toward Gear Grinder. It was true, though - He might need some hoof-covers or something for his paws if he was going to be working out in the snow..

Gingersnap grabbed Zircon's empty mug and her own and trotted into the kitchen dumping them into the sink with an audible clunk. Returning to the room she smiled Did you happen to get my list of supplies I need, Gear? I have enough bits to place the order. she pulled a small pouch that jingled with her movements.
As she held it out she noticed Zircon flexing his paws slightly,Did you ever look upstairs Zee? There might be something to disguise you while you work? The pony was getting a bit concerned. Maybe old grudges do die hard with some ponies, especially farm ponies. Her brow furrowed deep in worry for her new friend.

Gear looked over at Zircon. "I'll advance your pay and a couple of bonus items on the side. Does that sound like a fair deal?" Gear asked as he looked around the room. 'I think I got a few things they might like at least.' he thought to himself.
He turned his head towards Ginger as she asked about the delivery. "Not yet, the caravan isn't due until another few hours. I just came to see how you were doing and to get assistance from Zee if possible." he said as he started yawning.

At the mention of not only advanced, but BONUS pay, Zircon snapped up to attention as he stood, swirling around to face Gear with a sleek grin present on his mug.
"This is sounding fair, yes! Buy hoof-covers.. Paws will not freeze for Zee, and Zee will help." Zircon's tail was wagging as he walked over to Gear Grinder, albeit for different reasons in his head than what the pair probably thought.
"Boots only, no need for other pony-clothes. Zee does not hide if he is helping pony-friends, does he?" He stated, glancing back at Ginger Snap at this mention.

Ginger tilted her head in consideration and then smiled Yes I suppose you are right. Better to put a best hoof...er PAW forward. She tossed her coin purse in between them. You boys have your fun and keep warm and stay out of trouble! I really need to start getting this place in order! She flicked her green tail, raising a cloud of dust for emphasis. The brown mare grabbed her bag and trotted into the kitchen muttering a list of to-do under her breath. It wasn't long before a small chorus of cupboards being opened and shut and objects clattering on counter tops filled the house.

(sorry for the wait. My Internet hates me -_-)
Gear chuckled as he saw Zircons tail wagging. "Well I'm glad to see you're up for it. When you're ready follow me to the shop." He then turned over to Ginger, "I'll make sure he doesn't get into any trouble. See ya." He trotted over to the door and opened it, he waited outside for Zircon he yawned and rubbed his eyes removing what bit of sleep was left in his eyes.

After that, and after Gear was off to his shop, Zircon was swift to follow him out the door.
Assumedly, Gear had given him the payment advance on the way there. Gleefully, Zircon had taken it down to a pony clothing shop to buy himself the cheapest pair of hoof covers possible.
Granted, he wasn't willing to spew the old 'I'm pro-ponies!' cover right now, he'd been doing it all morning and last night. A soft shudder came over him as he tucked the bits into his pocket, instead sneaking around to the back of the shop after he saw a customer walk inside the front.
Sure enough, he thought right, and there was a box of worn and used clothes resting out back, no doubt waiting there to be taken to some sort of.. charity function. They wouldn't miss a couple of hoof covers, right? Firm in his reasoning, Zircon sniffed around a bit, finally snatching two pairs--one large, one medium--of draw-string hoof covers. He slip them on, grinning quietly to himself as he snuck away, now leaving hoof prints in the snow rather than paw prints.
Eventually, he did show up at Gear's shop, wearing the snow-covered hoof covers. At least his paws were warm, howeer, and he was ready to work.
"Alright, Gear-Pony!" Zircon announced as he entered the shop, "Zee is ready. What is needing to be happening first?"

Ginger poked her head out when she heard the front door closed. Hunching down she tiptoed over to the window, through the dusty glass she saw Gear heading to his shop and Zee heading towards town. When neither were in view she flipped her pack on and quietly exited out the back door.
The sun had taken a little of the bite out of the air, but still Ginger was becoming irritated at the cold. Looking around each corner of the building she made sure neither the pony or dog had returned. She shook her mane and started out towards the path she had traveled last night. As she took her first couple steps, the snow crunching under her feet made her pause. Looking back she could see her tracks. Well that is a problem...she flicked her tail sending snow flying into the hoof prints.
The brown mare chewed her lip having to concentrate on her movements, this was going to take awhile. About twenty minutes later, her red and green tail now hanging limply with ice crystals forming on the ends, she saw an old gnarled oak. Luckily this path had been well traveled and one more pony's tracks wouldn't be noticed. Then wind blew past tree and straight at Ginger. Her nose twitched and a sneeze followed soon after landing her on the edge of the path.
Well ad leasth iths still there She sniffled rubbing her nose. Hopping forwards she bounded towards the tree. On the side facing away from the path was a cavity mostly covered with snow. Plunging her hoof deep into the darkness she pulled back now with a medium size sack. A sprig of Mint attached to the drawstring. She grinned then quickly buried it in her pack as she heard a couple male ponies talking distantly, the sound of a cart groaning under its weight as it made its way down the path. She attempted to silently press herself against the tree the sack's jingling muffled in her pack.
That must be Gear's delivery... she thought waiting for them to pass.

The shop was rather large. It had six shelves with various food, clothes, toys, the works. Behind the shops counter was a variety of gizmos that Gear made. One of them behind the counter wasn't a contraption, it was a black top hat with a white stripe in the center of the hat. Gear walked towards the counter and pulled out a key. He unlocked a small door to get behind the counter and made it towards the back door "Alright. We need to go out back for the job. Follow me." He unlocked the door and walked into the garage. He then pulled a lever and opened a large door to unveil a large backyard with enough land to handle a small farm. The backyard had some green lawn chairs and a couple of plastic tables but in the distance was a large boat, it had a large sail, four large propellers attached to twenty foot poles which were attached to the edges of the boat. On the boats sides were two blue wings with cloth encompassing the majority of the wings with the rest of it is wooden planks and strong string holding the cloth in place. "Zee, say hello to the Archimedes mark 1." he said proudly.
Meanwhile a group of six male ponies were making their way towards Hoofington. From events prior to them getting close to town four of them were frustrated with the trip. They continued on their way in silence. They pass Ginger without them noticing her.

Entering into the shop, Zircon's eyes widened with wonder at the multitude of pawn-able items on the shelves. The more he looked around, the more items he saw - And they all looked positively... valuable!
Well. Until he saw that none of them really contained any gold, silver, or jewels. None that he could see right off the bat anyhow. Zircon's expression of wonder quickly fell flat, nose tweaking as he sniffed here and there for the scent of those ever precious metals he suspected HAD to be around here, somewhere.
As Gear asked Zircon outside, the canine begrudgingly followed behind after placing on a false smile, tail wagging limply as he stepped into the garage.
And then, as the ship was revealed, Zircon's interest was piqued once again. He peered up at the ship, lifting a paw to lightly tap his chin, ears perking a bit as he blinked at it.
"Is very nice, Gear pony! Yes, nice.. Very big, too, yes. Is not finished yet, though, is it?" Zircon asked, tail tapping the ground as the canine peered over at the pony.

Ginger Snap let them pass out of sight. The most important thing was getting her savings back to her new home. With a new spring in her step she decided to take the path the delivery ponies has taken straight through the main road of the small town. If her shop was going to be any type of success she would need to start making contacts more than just with a dog or one strange and clumsy pony.
A bunch of little ponies fresh out of the school house started galloping past. The chocolate brown mare step to the side smiling, wondering how long it had actually been since she had frolicked like these ponies.
"Hey guys! Wait up!" the littlest of the group cried, attempting to keep up. A colt with a light blue pelt and a dark purple mane that stuck up at odd angles slipped on and ice patch front of her. "Oh!" he grunted in frustration falling onto his stomach "Why do they always leave me behind?!"
Ginger tilted her head to the side at the little colt, Are you alright? The little colt jumped, landing on his stomach again. He rolled over and stared at her in terror. "Y-Y-You! I saw you creeping outside the old abandoned house last night!" his voice squeaked.
Ginger blinked at the little colt. Yes, well I was just trying to get out of the cold. She paused then raised an eyebrow staring down the little colt. Wait, a moment, little colt. I arrived here way past a little pony's bedtime. What were you doing awake?
The little colt gasped a look of terror had frozen his face. "I, uh....I"
What's your name little pony? Ginger had to struggle to keep a straight face. The little pony now visibly shaking, "Shift Spur. PLEASE don't tell my mother I-" Ginger put a hoof over the little colt's mouth. My name is Ginger Snap and I'm feeling a bit peckish, Shift. Would you mind giving me a tour of Hoofington and I will treat you to lunch in return? We won't speak of your breaking curfew.
When she removed her hoof the blue colt's mouth hung open in shock. "Sure....I guess." GingerSnap grinned, 'Silly little ponies. Some over terrified at the slightest mention of superstition, but nothing worse the getting in trouble with their parents.' With that they started down the street Shift speaking quietly and keeping out of hoof's reach of the mare.
